College baseball is one of the best sports in my opinion because of all the different variables there are in getting players. It’s all about who you know or where you’re at and all the coaches use this in some way. I don’t think it hurts them because there are countless DII, DIII, Juco, NAIA ect players that get overlooked and never get the chance to show their talent on the big stage. Theres just too many quality players out there he would need to individually scout but of course he doesn’t have the man power to do. Mlb Pro scouts have trouble seeing and identifying good talent so it’s easy to see how college coaches must use their trusted resources to recruit better players.
One thing from Pierce that I want to see more of, now that he’s shown himself on the big stage, is getting higher rated guys to commit and actually land on the 40. Vandy always seems to get a guy that in reality should be making a couple million as an 18 year old.
