  1. Texas fans were angry that Charlie was screwing up and wanted him gone for his poor performance. Herbstreit called Austin a cesspool because Texas fans were going to get their wish and be happy. IOW Texas fans were upset that Strong was running the program into the ground. Herbie was pissed that the Reign of Error was over.
  2. Great game by Curacao. Uncharacteristic mistakes by Japan cost them the game. First 2 errors of the tournament for them. If Hawaii wins, there will be 2 teams from the islands meeting in the LLWS finals. Curacao used their 3 best pitchers yesterday and today. Profar threw 85 Thursday and is out. Today Martinus threw 50 pitches and Martha >50 so they won't be available tomorrow. Tough choice who they will pitch since those 3 guys have been their best by far. Rosina pitched a complete game against Canada but either US team is a lot better than that. Tromp and Mogen had very short appearances in relief.
  3. Top 100 national player and the top WR in Alabama chooses Clemson: https://247sports.com/college/LSU/Article/Clemson-football-recruiting-EJ-Williams-commitment--134733434/ Dabo is building a ridiculously talented class. https://247sports.com/Player/EJ-Williams-46049986/
  4. That's some serious revisionism there. Herbstreit called Austin a "cesspool" in reaction to reports that Charlie Strong was about to be FIRED.
  5. I find it fascinating that no one at all seems to be thinking about the implications of offensive changes for LSU's defense. Experience in the Big XII has shown that teams can dislocate the opposing defense by using tempo. They can also wear down their own defense when their offense goes tempo. Play counts tend to balloon on both sides and DCs run out of different blitz packages and coverage schemes. LSU of all people should know what that looks like. BOTH defenses looked nearly impotent during the 7 OTs at dead dog field. Using a lot of tempo just means the play counts get into the 80s during regulation. With their Fatball(TM) roster they are either going to rotate a bunch more than they are used to or they will exhaust their own defense as well as the opponent.
  6. I think they're usually referred to by the brand name "Speedo"
  7. There are lies, damn lies and statistics. This article suggests that teams stop throwing the ball to their backs because it's not "efficient." It's stuff like this that gives sports stats such a bad name. Like Bastiat's bad economist, the bad statistician focuses solely on what is directly in front of them rather than looking at the big picture. It starts with the obvious fact that throwing to WRs (mostly downfield) is better than throwing to RBs, mostly short check downs and often behind the LOS. The authors then beat the dead horse with statistical proofs of the obvious. Assuming a competent QB, the throws will be mostly to open receivers so of course going to an open WR downfield ia going to yield better results than going to a RB short on average. And the real question is should the QB throw to a covered WR rather than an open RB? Secondarily does it make the offense better to take away a threat of passing to the backs? They don't address those questions at all. The focus on early downs is particularly disingenuous. Threat of the run will keep the LBs near the LOS and create more room behind them. That definitely favors WR patterns over those typically used by RBs in the crowded short zones that are even more crowded on 1st down. Does anyone really need to be told that a team with Ezekiel Elliot might be better off throwing a PA pass over the LBs than a swing pass when the defense has 9-10 guys line up within 5 yds of the LOS? His other example just reinforce the bias. Neither the NY Giants nor the NE Patriots are teams that spread it out and throw the ball around on early downs. I'd be much more interested to see what the numbers look like for pass heavy teams running spread attacks. I'd bet those numbers look a lot different for the KC Chiefs for example. I would also love to see how the productivity of the offense generally and of the other receivers specifically is affected by incorporating the RBs into the passing game. I have no idea where to even begin with that one though.
  8. In the last few weeks they've "lost" Van Pran, Lindburg and likely Evans to Georgia. Alford, Eaton, Princely and Broughten have chosen the Flagship University of aggy's own state over them. They can't even get their 6th snd 7th choices to give them a commitment. How long before Bilbo starts feeling like this?
  9. To be fair, aggy has plenty of John Rockers.
  10. Clearly he was for the offer before he was against it...
  11. aggy boycott incoming in 3...2...1...
  12. That would be weird. It's also a terrible analogy to the Smith story. Nothing alike at all. You would be an anonymous person either on or off an internet forum. She is a Public Figure through no fault of her own. Her abusive ex-husband has made sure of that. Her privacy has already been destroyed as a result of that same abuser. So the only question is will she allow his PUBLIC lies about her to prevail or will she tell the truth about those already pubic relationships with documentation?
  13. I guarantee you would if she dumped those lies into the public record on a regular basis.
  14. Yep. It's all about context. Zach Smith has ALREADY put her life out there and under a microscope. She is trying to correct the sort of distorted funhouse mirror world that abusers with a victim complex often construct to justify their actions.
  15. "She's TOTALLY into you dude..." That'll be $9.95.
  16. They might have a problem at OG. I presume there is a reason for moving depth guys from OT to OG. It's not as if OT is a tower of strength.
  17. correction: Pascual threw a complete game but not a shutout for Hawaii. Only game 2 was a shutout.
  18. Sure looks likely. Both Virginia and Louisiana have limited pitching depth and pitch count issues. Louisiana burned their ace just to get to the semis. He will only be available if the team beats Virginia and Hawaii to face (probably) Japan. They'll use their #2 pitcher vs Virginia and they only have 1, maybe 2 decent kids behind that. If they win tomorrow they will be starting a #3 or #4 pitcher against Hawaii. Not a good situation. Virginia is in slightly better shape. Their ace, Lee is available tomorrow after being pulled in the 1st against the kids from Maui. #2 pitcher threw 50 today and will likely be their starter in any Hawaii rematch. Their #3 has appeared as a reliever in all 3 games and can pitch tomorrow against Louisiana. The only guys behind them pitched in relief today only. If they win tomorrow they will have their #2 starter and probably not much behind him for Saturday. Hawaii has a wild looking pitching situation. 6 inning complete game shutout for their ace Pascual in game 1. 2 different pitchers: Kuloloia and Iwamura combined for a shutout in game 2. Then they used 3 completely different pitchers today: Miyake-Matsubayashi, Nashiwa and Hong. I have NEVER seen a LLWS where a team went three games without any pitcher making more than a single appearance. It's even odder considering they've used 6 pitchers. Obviously no pitcher availability issues for Hawaii after 2 days rest. Korea could not dominate Japan with their pitching and power hitting. Japan's 2 pitchers gave up only 3 hits. Of course 2 of them were HRs - both on 1-2 counts where the pitcher left one hanging. They couldn't rally because Japan's pitching is both strong and gives up few walks. Korea is down their ace against Curacao but they have their next 3 that can go. Curacao's staff will be at full strength.
  19. Someplace with Ebola, AIDS and civil war would be close enough for government work. I'm gonna go with Congo.
  20. aggy ALWAYS lies, cheats, steals and tolerates those who do.
  21. Pass blocking not as good as his run blocking. edit: now getting beaten by non-bots as well...
