  1. Sometimes what looks like parody is simply group think.
  2. Awesome. Kid looks like a really good get.
  3. Nope. /applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  4. A lot of the time wIth aggy it's difficult to tell the difference between denial and acceptance.
  5. None of them are strong enough to overcome terminal Tellocity.
  6. You think you've idiot-proofed everything. Then they go and build a better idiot...
  7. Slot WR is the safety blanket for the QB in this offense. Lots of single coverage against LBs and less athletic DBs like nickels and safeties playing off coverage. What you want there is a reliable, veteran player who you can count on to run the right route and catch the ball. Also important for that guy to be smart in order to sight adjust to blitzes and to find the soft spots in the zone. Duvernay is that kind of experienced, smart player. He's supposed to have the best hands of any Texas WR. He won't be as tough as LJH moving the pile downfield after the catch but he's a guy the staff probably trusts to convert 3rd and 5-7 yds. At Z you need a guy fast enough to stretch the field and his hands have to be good enough to credibly threaten the defense deep. Medium fast is good enough if the line can protect against a 4 man rush. Herman and Co have recruited a lot of fast guys and some of them have good size as well. Eagles may not be quick but his top end speed is enough to do that job and he seems to have good hands as well. Lastly if Sam is still working on the accuracy of his deep ball, the bigger catch radium might help and the extra size to basically post up the defender on a back shoulder throw doesn't hurt either.
  8. You're not wrong. I'm just saying that both men knew exactly how to appeal to their respective fan bases and did exactly that.
  9. They don't have slavery in B/CS. Though I'm sure we'd have no trouble finding people who would like to bring slavery back.
  10. If you're talking about Jimbo, I'd guess it was a mashup of rejects from The Matrix and Lord of the Rings at the end of a 3 day bender who really hated him.
  11. Better OL makes for better execution. I've always contended that Beck will get a lot smarter as our OL improves. Herman was determined to RS everyone possible on the line last season. They paid the price in depth but a little luck with health kept that price from being too high. Now we get to see what Okafor and the RS Freshmen can do.
  12. Balls to the Face doesn't just happen randomly. It takes hard work to set things up. Here's Jimbo on the recruiting trail I think this is known as "foreplay." https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DxUdhNHUYAAFKdL.jpg
  13. Taoism is a bit like Existentialism that way. It's kinda hard to get worked up about it.
  14. I enjoy your quibbling at the margin. That tells me I've gotten the big picture right so you need to find small things to argue about. You're already engaging and it's only to nitpick. At no point did I use anything even resembling a superlative to describe Moreau's importance to the team. "A lot of production" isn't a superlative just FYI but I believe he was the only TE to even log a reception. Moreau was in a group of guys behind Jefferson with 22-23 catches. He had few drops and was effective on offense - keeping them ahead of the chains when utilized. The former is a pretty big deal on a team with a lot of drops from the WR position. Sullivan will be more of a downfield threat but less reliable and certainly not an in-line blocker.
  15. I thought Leslie was no longer with us. Guess I was wrong...
  16. I think that perfectly exemplifies the difference between the two schools and fanbases. The LSU dude was a caricature of blind homerism. Just simple assertion based on assumptions he didn't even bother to state - IOW smack talk. Acho was definitely analytical and willing to take a hard look. He was critical of Texas - too critical IMHO. Acho was not lacking in realism, crossing the line (again IMHO) to excessive pessimism. Those 2 guys represented their schools pretty well. In addition their views are probably shaped by the absurd man love for SECx3 led by ESPN. I doubt that LSU homer would say that so blithely if his bias wasn't constantly being confirmed and reinforced.
  17. In general there is a kernel of truth to the idea but I think the majority of this feeling is Charlie PTSD. I would not say that either Caden Stearns or BJ Foster was anything like a liability last season even as true freshmen. Each year that Todd Orlando has been here, multiple players have taken big leaps in performance or come out of nowhere to become stars. Would it be nice to have proven and talented upperclassmen starting at every position? Of course. But with the trend towards more 3rd year players declaring plus the kind of talent Tom Herman is bringing in, that dream just isn't realistic every year.
  18. The aw shucks good ole boy act combined with the fast talking snake oil salesman and the weird peccadilloes reminds me of someone. I know. Jimbo is basically disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker.
  19. Statistically there is very little difference in the QB running workload. Sam had 164 carries out of 1045 offensive snaps or 15.7%. Mond had 149 carries in 980 snaps or 15.2%. Sam scored 16 TDs rushing vs 7 for Mond. Tom Herman could have fixed the problem entirely by calling fewer TD runs from Sam. Or Herman could have fixed the problem and then some by matching aggy in failing to make the conference championship. Think about the "system" bragging rights that would have produced! To be fair Jimbo didn't intend to give his QBs that many carries. Mond just got sacked a bunch. 34 sacks in 13 games vs 26 for Sam in 14 games.
  20. Try all the recent data. 5-7 ===> 7-6 ===> 10-4 looks like a trend doesn't it?
  21. OSU has had very good coaches who where repulsive human beings and dirty as sin for all but one year of this century. I don't see Ryan Day being able to keep up in either of those categories.
  22. If the line can protect for 3 seconds, the safeties covering vertical routes will be 25 yds downfield and running away from the LOS. That leaves a HUGE gap unless the LBs drop at least 12 yards deep. If the underneath zone is 12 yds off and backpedaling there's a ton of space for checkdowns and scrambles. It all starts up front.
