  1. It's the glory hole on the left side of the stall. Just another aggy tribute to the military they so wish they could be.
  2. With the 3 cupcakes plus all of the crappy passing teams in conference, top 40 should be a minimum measure of competence.
  3. The beauty of that is 9-4 = "pass the koolaide" for them. Deep down inside they know what's up and every once in a while it leaks out.
  4. Clearly you didn't bother to check before you posted that. No one is making that argument. I guess it's a lot easier to beat up a straw man than deal with reality. Texas was up 19-0 at the half and chose to play ball control. That is why KSU got a whole 4 possessions in the 2nd half. It's the way Tom Herman plays ball with a big lead. He did the same thing against ISU, KU and Baylor. As fans we don't like it; we want to see blowouts. But if the priority is to just win the game it makes sense to minimize the chance of a turnover that would let them back into it. Herman did the same thing against USC up 37-14 in the 3rd Q, against OU up 45-24 in the 3rd and pretty much the entire 2nd half against UGa in the Sugar Bowl. It's not just a tendency; it's his philosophy. In every case there were a lot more points available to the Texas offense. Herman chose to forego them to kill clock. I get that snarky but completely wrong takes are to be expected from fans of other programs that don't follow Texas. Just don't expect for that crap to fly if you post it here.
  5. Earlier in the thread, I alluded to the recruiting rankings of the 2 teams and USC was clearly bringing in more talent. That is where the "better team on paper" comes from. It's a reasonable definition though you may choose to use a different measurement. Your surprise at LSU's poor running game is a very normal reaction. This is where the SECx3 propaganda really skews perceptions of even serious CFB fans unless they dig into the data. They might improve this year but I wouldn't want to count on a true freshman to eclipse Brossette's production by game 2.
  6. According to T'Vondre Sweat's recruiting profile he was 6'3" in HS. If he is 6'5" now he could easily be 25-30 lbs heavier with exactly the same build. If he's also bulking up in the weight room on top of that...
  7. I swear the word sheeple was invented specifically to describe aggy.
  8. See aggy boards from early January. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum.
  9. I think you'd have to count a lot of that as water weight.
  10. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
  11. Since I mentioned LSU's defense as a specific concern, I don't think that take was disingenuous at all. I intended to focus on their offenses since the context was how the Texas defense would fare. Both USC and LSU fielded tremendous talent on paper. They both run pretty outdated offenses. LSU has a more mobile QB who is a below average passer. USC has a non-mobile QB who is a damn good passer but makes mistakes due to youth. But the most important similarity is that neither one can really spread a defense out. They can't stop Orlando from presenting 5/6 in the box then scheming an extra defender in there. I'll cover it more in the LSU offense write up but they were not a good rushing team. USC ran the ball better, quite a bit better if they hadn't had to face Texas (4.3 YPC vs 4.0 YPC for LSU). In terms of run stopping, Texas is better off in 2019 than in 2018. Last season they had to replace Nashon Hughes, Malik Jefferson and most importantly Poona Ford up front. The Horns lost the anchor of their run defense and still showed the ability to shut down old style running games. That tells me that scheme is critical and many of the new starters on the DL showed up big time in the Sugar Bowl. I'd call Mac a concern because there's no proven player there. I'm pretty comfortable otherwise against obsolescent run-heavy offenses.
  12. Fayetteville is "experiencing drastic growth." Sounds exactly like a Syrian refugee camp.
  13. Not really a problem; it's one of Rumsfeld's known unknowns at this point.
  14. Just watched Conner's soph highlights. He impresses in all the usual ways for an OL. He's got quick feet, nasty disposition, puts people on the ground and finishes the play. But if you watch closely you'll see how smart he is taking on smaller defenders in space. Most OL will chase those guys, lunging to try to connect with the block. Hayden will often take up position, wait for them to commit and then cut off their pursuit angle. You'll also see him approach fully on balance using short, choppy steps. He knows he isn't going to out-quick a guy 100 lbs lighter. He uses brains and technique to overcome that.
  15. Definitely against spread teams. Who else remembers the way Orlando used Jason Hall in late 2017? Now picture a bulked up 5* safety playing that position.
  16. I understand where you are coming from. Let me offer a counterpoint. Texas had a ton of question marks on defense going into the 2018 season. Yet in the 3rd game of that season the Horns held one of the most talented teams in the country - USC to NEGATIVE rushing yardage. The Trojans were a better team on paper than LSU. They also run a similarly obsolescent offensive scheme. Todd Orlando feasts on those kinds of offenses, see also Iowa State, TCU, Georgia, Mizzou. What causes Orlando trouble are spread passing teams with really good QBs. Yes, LSU has a better defensive system than USC. That's really the one thing that impresses me and is a genuine cause for concern. Are they so good they can hold the Texas offense under 20 points? It seems unlikely as only KSU managed that last year and the Longhorns' average was over 31 PPG.
  17. So they'll get a whole week of reading the press clippings from their moral victory? That should leave them ripe for a letdown the following week.
  18. Gotta have 'em to compete in the LOS League you stupid sip!
  19. Looking for some blowout wins so the reserves can get some in game PT.
  20. That's great training for taking on Samoans on the DL.
