  1. You just have to root for the kid to break the cycle and make something of himself.
  2. If Braun wants to show useful flexibility in position, he should get some snaps at Center, not OT. He is not physically precluded from playing C in the NFL. And as @Machinatorjust pointed out, he needs to show ability as a pass blocker. Braun can have a long career in the NFL as a G/C and Texas can help him get there, especially if the pass pro in 2019 is at or near 2018 levels.
  3. So aggy is planning to lose the in-state battle for Texas recruits this year?
  4. 280 lbs isn't the relevant metric. Braun is listed at 6'3" and might be a bit shorter than that. Since his objective is to GT and show his abilities for the NFL you need to ask how many 6'2 to 6'3" OTs there are in the pros.
  5. I spent 2 years on the DMZ monitoring North Korean propaganda broadcasts. Running this stuff in the background while I do real work isn't all that.
  6. 'shop Looch into that picture of Jimbo feeling up that recruit in a bowling alley who looked like the bad guy from a 1980s martial arts movie.
  7. Don't forget the Nike uniform du jour in a fully gamut of eye searing colors and seizure inducing fonts.
  8. They were all going for the Princess Di look.
  9. He's from Inglewood, CA prior to attending IMG. Plus at least on of the 3 major services rated Radley-Hiles as a 5-star. Unlike the OU homers, I see Grinch as a huge risk. 4 years as a DC. No (positive) impact at tOSU. One good season at WSU which has been severely oversold. Tons of movement along the front. His DL stemmed most of the time, then often ran a slant or stunt post-snap. A lot of times that led to them not being gap sound across the front which was how UW crushed them with the running game. Grinch has said repeatedly that he wants faster guys up front. He used a 250 lb Mata'afa at NT for the Coogs. In that light, the radio silence on Prince Dorbah seems especially weird.
  10. This crowd is well above average but I think the army lawyer at the McCarthy hearings is a bit obscure, even for this group.
  11. Correct. He's listed with Mike Leach and Tom Herman under "offensive genius who has done well as a head coach but hasn't reached the top level" at least not yet. The only other guy that belongs in that conversation right now is Urban Meyer.
  12. Looking forward to having someone at that position who isn't slowed down by his Polynesian ties.
  13. Remember that like most totalitarian societies, everything not required is strictly forbidden at aggy. Until the mob turns, criticism of the savior-coach is treason. Once they move on to the next savior, ritual human sacrifice of the old one becomes mandatory. But the groupthink makes the transition both more sudden and more disconcerting for the sheeple than it would be for a healthy human society.
  14. He reminds me of Ed McCaffrey with a touch of Dwight Clark.
  15. According to HIMYM, the 1990s were actually the 1980s in Canada. Maybe the 2010s are actually the 1980s in rural Kansas.
  16. 34:00 Georgia - "I know they weren't interested. They didn't play that well in the secondary...Texas was good, they weren't great at receiver. They have a good QB; he's not great. So I do wonder just how good that (UGa) secondary is going to be w/o (Deandre) Baker." aggy delusion to minimize what Texas did to a highly motivated Georgia team. Since aggy literally CAN'T admit how good the Texas WRs and QB actually are, their only option is to bad on a pretty good (if conventional) coverage unit for the Bulldogs. The butterfly effect of aggy mental gymnastics has a long, long reach.
  17. Thanks, these are always good for a laugh. 26:50 - "SEC 2019, upper half of the league... Teams like Auburn, Miss St., certainly A&M is in that mix..." They then try to convince themselves that their weak secondary won't matter because no one other than Alabama can throw the ball. lol 7 teams in the upper half of a 14 team conference by definition. Bama, Georgia, LSU and Florida definitely belong. Mizzou probably #3 in the East. MSU and Auburn in the West. Leaves aggy as a borderline case - the definition of mediocrity. But it's not TOTALLY laughable to put them at #7. It's just funny how they manipulate the cutoff to make themselves sound possibly part of a semi-respectable group.
  18. CJ is elite in terms of height and reach. It gives him a huge catch radius and the ability to go over smaller defenders when combined with his jumping ability. It also gives the defender zero chance on those back shoulder fades thrown to the outside shoulder. Omeire's game looks a lot more like a HS version of Hakeem Butler. He just physically bullies smaller DBs.
  19. Elite balance and footwork, especially for a guy that size. Good pad level for a tall OL and he looks comfortable and moves well while playing low. Blows up LBs in space both pulling and going straight to the 2nd level. He needs to get stronger but he's got the time and the frame for that. Would like to see a little more mean and finish at the whistle but Byrd looks like a take all the way.
  20. Pass pro and ability as a receiver out of the backfield were much less important in the college game 15-20 years ago. Big, punishing one-cut RBs were the centerpiece of many offenses operating out of the I-formation back then. Not even the dinosaurs of the SEC use that model anymore.
  21. ISU was dealing out pain to Air Raid teams with this system. It allowed them to present an almost irresistible 5-man box count then shut down the run by bringing 1 overhang man into the box and 1-2 additional defenders from depth. Texas was able to beat it with inside zone runs which hit before the insert box defenders could arrive. When the middle safety started to play 5-7 yds off the ball instead of 8-10 yds off, the dig and curl opened up. Most spread teams can't do that since they mostly run B-gap, which can be spilled enough to allow defenders from outside the box to make the play. OU's counter trey is also slow to develop and Heacock did a pretty good job on them.
  22. When the best defense in Class 6A is scheming big numbers into the box to stop a RB, that alone is a huge sign of respect. When that scheme often left a slot receiver in single coverage against a safety playing 10 yds off the ball, you begin to recognize the level of risk Duncanville was willing to run in containing Evans.
  23. Some of our surly lawyers need to explain the concept of "joint and several liability" to him...
