  1. Maybe that will change now that he no longer needs to get that on tape for MLB scouts...
  2. When Texas announced McVay as keynote speaker Jimbo went after this guy trying to keep up before being told he was "unavailable."
  3. Just to highlight the absurdity of these rankings, ESPN had the Chernobyl level meltdown finish at Michigan in the #5 spot. And to add insult to injury, 3-9 UCLA is several spots ahead of TEXAS.
  4. No doubt. Let LSU read the mountain of praise for their team and their conference for the next 7 months. Let Sam, BJ Foster and the boys stew in the disrespect for motivation. Then Herman can give the "Let them know what they signed up for from the opening play" speech and unleash Hell.
  5. They do it often enough that I thought we should document examples in one place. We see it all the time but this latest example is beyond ridiculous. h/t to @mdleast http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25988761/clemson-tigers-get-best-alabama-crimson-tide-again-fpi-preseason-rankings So either ESPN's writers are morons, pathological liars or the only SEC teams that wouldn't be favored over Texas are Vandy, Arkansas, Kentucky and Ole Miss. Does anyone actually believe that? So I'm going with ESPN writers are pathological liars to give their IQ the benefit of the doubt.
  6. I'm not sure if this is just a spin on Baggins' first name or a sad, pathetic tribute to his Ex. Either way the product label fits...
  7. Oh yeah, the architecture was the other thing about aggy that reminded me of the Soviet era. Thanks for the reminder.
  8. Sounds like Alex Grinch is really shaking things up in Norman. OU's got the wrong personnel to run his schemes. He wants to play aggressive, penetrating 1-gap scheme (4-3 philosophy from a 3-4 look) up front. What he's got are big, slow space eaters recruited to command double teams and keep the LBs clean. With his love of slants, stems and other pre-snap movement I have to wonder if Gallimore will stroke out in the 3rd quarter running a pass rush stunt. The changes may be driving the exodus of DL. Maybe Grinch deserve his own thread. When I looked into his record, the one thing that really stands out is 2017. His WSU defense was statistically #7 in opp pass efficiency. That did not comport with what I actually saw in a couple of their games, including the blowout bowl loss ot Michigan State. Digging a little deeper, the Pac-12 was dog crap in 2017: 1-8 bowl record was just the rotten cherry atop a putrid cake. Further excavation showed that the pass efficiency D rating was largely built on shutting down 2 horribad teams: 3-8 G5 (MWC) Nevada and FCS Montana State. Passer ratings for those 2 games were 62 and 44 QBR respectively. Pass efficiency D was approx #50 nationally when those game are excluded (against a terrible Pac-12). 2018 results from Columbus obviously were not inspiring.
  9. According to OU internet reporter RJ Young, the Sooner early enrollee DT is ALSO in the transfer portal. Something very strange is going on here.
  10. There is some value to highlights. IMHO the most valuable information is what you DON'T see in a collection of clips. OL that you don't see getting out on screens and mauling a DB. WRs that you don't see making catches against tight coverage or running crisp routes with sharp cuts. LBs who make all their plays filling inside but you never see them in coverage. When those are absent, there is usually a good reason for it. Bastiat described this tendency in economists. It applies to many other fields of endeavor.
  11. This is from a group that said no RB can be the #1 overall recruit in the country...
  12. Very Vulcan of you. Live long and perspire.
  13. Thompson's skill set looks much more like James Brown or even Colt than VY. Smaller guy who's not going to run over defenders; primarily a passer rather than a designed run guy but can burn teams with the scramble or QB draw. Accurate on the move as well as in the pocket.
  14. A football can either emphasize precision or toughness. All Air Raid based systems use high rep practices to instill precision. It's a trade off. Riley has gotten good results but teams with superior talent or close enough talent + superior coaching have given him big problems.
  15. Sorry. All those white dudes look alike to me.
  16. $12.5 mil now https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2016/01/30/texas-a-m-joins-college-sports-financial-elite/79567194/
  17. Yes, aggy is tier 1 - just like UTEP, UNT, Tech and Cougar High. They succeeded in the immediate goal but failed in their real quest. The "failed" part was thinking that would make them a peer of THE University of by God Texas. So they went the Joe Stalin route (quantity has a quality all its own) in their next Wile E. Coyote like attempt. Just like the guy from Wham! who said they were bigger than the Beatles because they had more band members. Also research spending per capita is part of the formula for determining which schools qualify as tier 1. By pursuing virtual open enrollment policy, aggy is endangering that status and what was once presented at the top goal of their college. The only constant is their penis envy.
