  1. Got beat to shit at the Pit Room on Richmond today. $90 for two beef ribs. I love my dogs and they get months of use from the bone, but that’s goddamned ridiculous. Beef sausage is good. Not Luling or Lockhart good, but great for Houston. Jalapeño cheese sausage is where it’s at. Got some venison too for later.
  2. Had some catered at a ranch on East Bernard a couple weeks back. I can understand not wanting to cook for 50 people, but it was terrible. Sausage was marginally OK. The brisket looked like some shit from Luther’s like 30 years ago. Cafeteria style and smothered in sauce. I had no idea people were still doing brisket like that in Texas.
  3. Really, really bad in the neighborhoods east of Downtown off of 10. They’ll just park them for the better part of an hour during the workday.
  4. It’s one bite on a cheese slice right? I guess it keeps things democratic.
  5. I think OTF compared Kreul’s build to Colin Simmons. Well OK gif. I’ll take middle class Trey Moore all day long here.
  6. Would anybody be surprised if Arch and Alan Jackson Jr had a strong rapport and chemistry? All of Brady’s favorites were coaches on the field.
  7. Hope so. Gerry called it a lower leg injury.
  8. Podcast recapping the scrimmage.
  9. OTF is saying wait and see on Brooks. Information will have to come from the SID. Super awesome.
  10. My favorite park in Houston. Bless you Mr. Crane.
  11. Yeah if even half accurate, Jake nor any member of his crew, can ever refuse a favor request from Keith. They owe him.
  12. As I’ve said many times, there are no hospitable fanbases in the SEC. You might have friends that invite you to their tailgate, but make no mistake they all desperately want to win, and they’re sore ass losers when they lose. Vandy beating Bama + Lea/ Barton Simmons swagger bullshit is just unfortunate. Nashville was the last outpost.
  13. As long as they have Moxie’s, they’ll be just fine.
  14. Pretty dusty first 10 minutes.
  15. From what I gathered, it was a slow fade. They still did big business on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and gameday. I don’t think they owned the land, so they were doomed as soon as it got sold.
  16. I always thought The Tavern was vastly superior to the original Abel’s to watch games. The Tavern had very large indoor TVs for the mid 2000’s and a crazy satellite channel package for the times. I hated watching Texas away games at Abel’s. You’e watch on a 36’’ screen mounted on a rafter from about 15 yards away. Other than ambience, watching at home was always better.
  17. I’m not walking into this shit brown Galveston water debate. Austin is an awesome place to go school. I assume we all enjoyed our time at UT. I couldn’t code so I moved to Houston after school. Houston is tolerable. HLSR, pro teams, and a strong drinking culture help you pass the time.
  18. So he didn’t show up for court on the domestic violence thing? This guy is a world class shit heel. I don’t want him anywhere near Houston, but dozens of NFLers have made similar charges go away by following competent legal advice.
  19. This didn’t make the Netflix SEC documentary unfortunately.
  20. Original location got demolished in 2023 for a mid rise I believe. I know some title attorneys that office next door. They told me it was fading all the way back in 2018. It was always empty on visits between 2018 and it’s closing in 2023. I don’t know much about the new location. In my opinion, it’s a tent with a bar in a parking lot. The original was a large 2 story indoor bar with a good sized covered deck/in the shade outside. It’d get hot out there, but it was always fine at night. Even in the summers. The Tavern on Lamar is as close as you’re going to get the original Abel’s. It’s always been an outstanding bar in its own right. Just not super walkable from West Campus.
  21. Automatic Silver Spur. Good for him. A T Ring + Silver Spurs and oh the places you can go.
  22. FYI, your local HEB might have goat’s milk. My pups absolutely love it.
  23. I find Deliverance… unsettling. But yes a very notable film from 1972.
