HLSR Survival tips:
- Stick to clear liquor and soda water . I feel the tequila, soda, and lime hangover is the most survival.
- NRG serves primarily AB 16 oz bottles. Pack accordingly.
- Plastic flasks.
- Parking is fine before 6pm on weekdays.
- Corral Club is worth the money.
- There’s a Saltgrass at the very end of NRG Center. I feel it’s the best grub outside of tents and cook off. A lot of the Midway restaurant suck deeply.
- There’s Chick-fil-a beer the petting zoos. Pretty close to regular prices
- Don’t wear flip flops. I feel like this one is obvious, but i see it every year. There is literally shit everywhere in NRG Center and Arena.
- I don’t have a good departure strategy. I rented an apartment a few years back nearby . It was great.
- There’s good shopping and light crowds at lunch on week days.
- I’d buy a hat or pair of boots right now. Probably too late on anything custom. I’m sweating out a custom hat order from Thanksgiving right now.
- There’s a second floor at NRG center with nice chairs if anybody has kids that need to sit or have old folks.
- Use Transportation’s golf carts. Black and red vests. Their logo is a stagecoach. They pick up at the end of NRG Center near Fanin and will take you to NRG Arena/Fairgrounds/Hideaway. Their staging area is big ass tent in the Red lot off Kirby. If you have folks that don’t walk so well, please seek them out. They can take you anywhere you need to go.
- The Wine Garden is always a shit show after concerts. There’s usually one working bathroom and no seating. Great folks working there, but it’s just too small to handle a lot of people.
