Finished it late last night.
- I’m glad the thread hated the Ryan twist. It doesn’t undo the greatness of the show, but it was bad for all the reasons laid out upthread. Apple’s Presumed Innocent has exactly the same twist and very similar reasoning. At best Presumed Innocent is lazy. At worst they plagiarized a recent popular show.
- Brianna was an awful, ugly fat bitch. They nailed the casting, acting, hair and make up.
- I hope Dylan is looking at jail time for shoving a gun in Jess’ face. She’s cooperating, so you think the police would eventually get him.
- I felt really sorry for Erin, but she made some horrible choices. Banging her much older cousin. Dating Dylan. Living with an alcoholic father when Jess and her mom would probably have taken her in. Getting catfished by an obvious American Eagle ad. Meeting her crush for the first time at a party in the woods she knew Brianna and Dylan would be at. She just seemed too innocent and naive to survive in that horrible town.
- Why did the family allow Erin to live with Billy? How is that not raising alarm bells with Lori?
- I guess I’ll chalk it up to being an inexperienced cop, but Zabel should have drawn his gun and arrested Wayne Potts the second he heard the pipe shaking. It seems pretty unusual to let a kidnapping suspect just go in the back of the house to grab stuff. Zabel was the most likable character on the show. Tough to watch him go out like that.
- Lori has her work cut out for her. Son in juvenile detention. Husband and brother in law in prison for obstruction of justice/tampering with a corpse And oh yeah she has another infant to raise.
- The show is an indictment of Gen Z just being unable to function. None of them have jobs or prospects. All of them are on drugs or are struggling with recovery. None of them of are raising their children, and depend on their parents to be parents again and again.
- I consume quite a bit of true crime content. I’ll give the show credit for telling a nuanced story. In the real world, 99 times of 100 Dylan would be the killer. Hell I’ve listened to that podcast dozens of times.
