  1. Can somebody, anybody, hopefully one of surly female arts critics, explain what the hell is going on with this movie? I listened to a 45 minutes of the Big Picture podcast on it and it’s a lot of: I didn’t watch the trailer so I didn’t expect this, Blake Lively fashion choices, and the lead actor/director’s solo press tour. 2 work spouses water cooling on a movie. The best I can tell, the director turned a post 50 Shades of Gray novel into a 90 rom-com with a dark 30 minute twist.
  2. You jumped over here to start shit as did the original poster. Look up your posting history. 99.999% of it is in the Cloak Room. I’m not engaging. Good bye.
  3. I love this thread. Goes from please mods don’t move us to the Cloak Room to a de facto Cloak Room thread within 1 page. If the pop ads bother you, talk to @immamac, don’t purposefully drag your shit over here. Can we please talk about something more interesting like Houston drivers running red lights or the new paper plates, “Please be Patient, Student Driver” bumper stickers? Thank you all.
  4. I stand corrected. Christian Ponder’s career earnings are just north of $12 million. Sam was probably making like $1 million a year.
  5. Replies should probably be offline, but I really didn’t like how my comp conversation went yesterday. My manager, who is a friend, went through the Korn Ferry competencies with me. Highly skilled at everything. Then we talk comp and gives me a lot of shit about how I’m within range, department is capped out, etc… I think I’ll do OK on my bonus, modest raise, but the underlying message is you’re stuck and there’s nothing you can do about it. Be happy with an easy job that pays OK. I get the 7/7 march, but no vested bonus/stock. I’ve been a landman since 2011 and done a little bit of everything. In house since 2012. Looking for a challenge where I see some equity or an ORRI coming my way. Needs to be Houston based.
  6. This isn’t new. I took world religions class at a Texas public school prior to 2000. If you want to be outraged, read the law and state what you have a problem with.
  7. I’ll get flamed, but what would surly prefer these kids do after school? If 20 kids sign up for Bible Study. and a teacher volunteers to lead it, who cares?
  8. Nope. ESPN+ is propping up Hulu and Disney Plus. Turned a modest profit on the bundle. Football and parks is all they have. Ponder losing her job sucks because she’s the breadwinner for that family. RG3 is dogshit and will only be missed by Baylor fans.
  9. Can we stop with the focus on the wives and girlfriends? They’re probably intelligent, independent women, but they know about as much about football as my wife knows about my job.
  10. Always good to see Bert in the thread. I like MGP bourbon, but it’s rarely priced well. Throw a sticker on it the price goes up at least $10, and usually $20.
  11. Correct. Jonathan’s wife seems very kind to go to sea with him and all that, but this was once a gritty fishing show about hard living dudes sacrificing their bodies for a good season. Now it’s Jonathan heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches and gold stars for Bob.
  12. Well the inevitable happened, the pups figured out they could cool themselves by sitting on the top step of the pool.
  13. Do we have a post game spots thread? Posse, Crown, and Matt’s immediately come to mind. I’d probably be unfamiliar with any of the newer places.
  14. Is it a mob movie classic? I’d say yes despite Burt Young being the only Italian in the movie. The restaurant scenes are all terrific. Stickball scene is a classic. Eric Roberts does just well enough to not ruin the movie. I believe in Al D’Arco’s book he states Burt approached him about buying a button in the 80’s. Kind of crazy.
  15. My best friend’s father would go to Matt’s after every home game. He was a season ticket holder for north of 40 years until passing suddenly a few years ago. Had a terrific corner tailgate spot in the LBJ parking lot for many of those years. I miss him and talking about the game over margaritas. I’ll always have a sweet spot for Matt’s.
  16. I’m coming around on how they structured Diggs’s contract. If he gets the ball and they win it works out, and they lose a WR in his 30’s after the season. If he doesn’t get the ball and pouts, bench him and get the rock to Nico and Dell.
  17. Chas loafed on yet another hit to the outfield and it cost us a run yesterday. He has no business being on this organization.
  18. Has Rosario played OF before? *edit* Fantasy Baseball stats says he’s played plenty of OF. MLB profile says shortstop only.
  19. Long winded way of saying you don’t like EW SiB. Got it.
  20. Get ready ou, piggy, and aggy. Steve Worster rides again.
  21. The hardcore baseball dorks that argued Kikuchi had the second best stuff of SP available at the deadline appear to be correct.
  22. I like Gullette better at LB than Niblett at WR. But if they want a bigger back to replace Baxter, I get it. Did Niblett play QB in high school? I could have sworn he had to play other positions because Ike’s program has fallen off the face of the planet.
  23. Perhaps the best part of this whole hot streak is burying the Rangers. They unwisely didn’t sell at the deadline. Now they get to watch the playoffs at home without any new prospects.
