  1. Good nose. I’m getting like a raspberry crème brûlée on the palette. Long finish. Just the right amount of heat.
  2. I had a pretty good week, and a night off from rodeo, so I might as well.
  3. A friendly reminder to walk your fence line and look for weak spots. Little girl burrowed her way into the neighbor’s backyard this afternoon. I had to dig in the dirt and turn her on her side to get her out. I then piled about 3 feet of bricks in the hole.
  4. Whoa. That was close.
  5. Good to very good bone in pork chop at Guadalajara. I’m just a surprised as y’all are. Quail is good too, but they serve it with some heavy butter dipper. Lamb chops are back at Longhorn Steakhouse. They’re very big for that cut, well marinated, and taste great. It’s under $30 for about 12-14 ounces of lollipops. You can’t do better. Just for Lent/Easter so hurry up.
  6. $43 American dollars for an Uber from the El T on Gessner to NRG Center this evening. This is an unsustainable model.
  7. I don’t understand the effort to reintegrate him into Hollywood’s good graces by Lorne Michaels and whomever he knows at WB Discovery. He pointed a gun at a woman, and it went off. If some dumb ass PA did exactly the same thing, he’d be doing time for manslaughter. He should consider himself lucky and withdraw from the public eye. But, I assume he needs money and needs to work so his friends are doing him more favors.
  8. Reba was mostly fine. She can still sing, but you can see why she doesn’t really tour anymore. Purple parking, suite tickets, and free booze made for a good night.
  9. Plenty of parallels between 1924/King of Kentucky and Weller 12/Pappy Van Winkle. I don’t blame folks for wanting to try it. The hype is an unfortunate side effect.
  10. The Ime-Reed conspiracy theory posts are writing themselves on Clutch Fans right now.
  11. But he doesn’t have to. He can spend the week in LA and fly back on the NBC for dress rehearsal on Friday. Show on Saturday. Back to LA on Sunday. Some of the greats can get away with it. The Burrows Bros said Kelsey Grammer would read the script for the first time 10 minutes before shooting, memorize all of his lines, and nail his scenes. Yang is not one of the greats
  12. We live through Houston summers every year, live near a cozy, clean Cinemark with a polite staff and cheap tickets. Plenty of before or after movie dining options, and we still never go. We lived in the Heights for 10 years without a local cinema, and then Covid. I was we just lost the habit. It takes a QT or DV movie to get me to theater.
  13. Y’all need to watch Tires.
  14. The King Ranch price increase was unfortunate. It created a malaise around the bottle, and turned a very good product into a shelf turd. They also hit Texas with a tsunami of cases. You have to walk around the display in most mom and pop stores in Houston. Smith Street kept about a shipping container worth of it in the middle of the store for weeks. 1924 is probably always going to be a tough get unless they release a shit ton of product like King Ranch. It’s the same recipe as King of Kentucky. Most of us will never taste KoK, so of course everyone wants to try the next best thing.
  15. After reading this and having just paid $80 for ETL at Spec’s I’m concerned BT is going up across the board. GG is always MSRP in my experience.
  16. Funny. I’m glad I don’t gamble. We’ll see how the films age, but that’s not what the award is about. Congratulations Flow.
  17. I believe it’s $92 at Spec’s.
  18. Probably Ridley Scott’s last great movie unfortunately. I’m not sure why the movie wasn’t better received. The duel scene is a masterpiece of hand to hand combat.
  19. I gave up on the Gotti wars about 8 hours in. Gleeson sucking his own dick about flipping Gravano, and then defending Gravano as a great witness was a bridge too far. The Earth is Weeping is pretty good, but it’s basically a doctorate thesis.
  20. I’m on the fence about Spec’s 1792 Full Proof pick. I’ll have to revisit. I will say TW picks have been much more consistent recently. If they’re around the same price, I’d recommend the TW picks 10 out of 10. I’d probably attribute Spec’s picks falling off due to lack of practice. Everything is so geared for the December drop that they’re not regularly tasting/picking. They just do it once a year now.
  21. Back to the affordable steakhouse well. Saltgrass has a pretty outstanding one. $3 drafts, $4 Rita’s, $5 wines, and I believe their cocktails are $6. The bacon wrapped quail is $13, and its outstanding. They do the traditional quail hunter way with cream cheese and jalapeño. The wrapping is so tight and well done it’s like eating a drumstick. They also give you a full side of their excellent brussel sprouts with it. It could easily be an entree. I’d skip the crap cakes. The steak bites are pretty good and only 7 bucks. I will say the Memorial winos frustrate me some. It’s usually standing room only at the bar of most of the restaurants in the hood. Spending every night at the same bar is no way to go through life. It’s a lot cheaper to drink at home.
  22. Are we talking about Oats specifically? Sankey has waited about a decade for SEC hoops to get this good. I doubt he wants Texas to rock the boat, and would prefer they hire outside of the conference. I don’t think it’ll prevent CDC from doing whatever he wants, but it might be out there. Bama has gotten serious about hoops, invested in the program, and made a great hire. Good for them.
  23. This. A strain is a form of a tear. But tear sounds more serious when included in 280 characters. Not sure what Quinn is trying to do here. He could just be giving an honest answer to question. He could blaming fuck ups on the injury. NFL teams don’t give a shit if he was hurt or not. They just want to see him throw.
