    Like what?

like how widespread it is and how many people it is actually having an impact on.

It's an issue that seriously erodes the lawfulness of this country, and that does have broad impacts, but it's not completely fucking out of control sending people by the 10s of thousands a day etc. We are sub 10k total still for the whole fucking year, they are actually doing a completely shit job at deportations, less than Biden in 2024 pacing.

I cannot overstate how fucked up it is that even a single person is being deported without due process and being sent to other countries illegally, but lets not sit here and claim its 100k+ people so far.

Here's CBP interactions by month for the last year.

  2. I don't think it's as bad as some of you are making it. It's bad, and I'm not saying it's anything but bad, but there is a lot of hyperbole as well.

Trump is not being able to just run freely and do whatever he wants and the courts have pushed back substantially and as of now these deportations have slowed down significantly and the administration is losing very important challenges, is it happening as fast as we all want it to? no.

  3. look mother fuckers stop inciting, promoting or otherwise encouraging violence of any kind against anyone.

It's not funny, and this is an overwhelmingly stupid place to do that. it's a completely publicly accessible forum.

lol at the title there. I think that there's a lot of flat out stupidity and second and third order effects that are just lost on the idiocy of the tariffs, but this isn't actually presented in a cohesive plain way, he goes too far into the trap of complexity which is part of wanting to be correct.

I’ve been down on Mayor Pete’s chances in ‘28, but I’m coming around to the idea that he’ll just be so familiar to much of the electorate that his homosexuality won’t have the same challenges it might to another candidate.  Also, the voters most concerned about that weren’t ever going to vote Dem anyway.

It also stands to reason that ‘28 is going to be about the economy and coalition building around ethnicity will be less emphasized.

I think Pete and his team are actually taking the issue "head on" without being overt about it. The more he can do the conservative podcast circuit and land laughs, jokes and not seem like a stiff like he did on the recent one where he didn't shy away from being gay it could be something that turns into a "non issue".

    Is he though?

He looked like warmed over dogshit with the Canadian PM and has been pathetic lately with all the L's he is racking ups, so yeah I would say he is.

This doesn't (necessarily) mean he's done and PUP list means he still gets his base pay. A full year+ of recovery is a good idea at this point. They drafted Etienne so if JB needs to move on in a year hopefully he's back to as close to 100% as possible.  And Carolina isn't exactly the cream of the crop franchise- wise anyway and a clean start elsewhere might help also.

I really hope he gets back to where he was. He would be an animal in the league.

It's wilding that this is not obvious.

Just fuck off man. No one is enjoying the engagement you are driving here in this thread. Just move on.

Two years ago in June, the commencement speech at Northwestern University contained this gem:

"The best way to spot an idiot, look for the person who is cruel. Let me explain. When we see someone who doesn't look like us, or sound like us, or act like us, or love like us, or live like us, the first thought that crosses almost everyone's brain is rooted in either fear or judgement or both. That's evolution. We survived as a species by being suspicious of things that we aren't familiar with. In order to be kind, we have to shut down that animal instinct and force our brain to travel a different pathway.

Empathy and compassion are evolved states of being. They require the mental capacity to step past our most primal urges. This may be a surprising assessment because somewhere along the way in the last few years, our society has come to believe that weaponized cruelty is part of some well-thought out Master plan. Cruelty is seen by some as an adroit cudgel to gain power. Empathy and kindness are considered weak. Many important people look at the vulnerable only as rungs on a ladder to the top. I'm here to tell you that when someone's path through this world is marked with acts of cruelty, they have failed the first test of an advanced society. They never forced their animal brain to evolve past its first instinct. They never forged new mental pathways to overcome their own instinctual fears. And so their thinking and problem solving will lack the imagination and creativity that the kindest people have in spades. Over my many years in politics and business, I have found one thing to be universally true. The kindest person in the room is often the smartest."

    This is some good shit.

Thanks. I appreciate that LHF and TexasOne have different structures, and purposes. My concern was with the one commingled funding source- donors. The Big Cigars (all of whom probably have suites) are the ones the school calls upon for special funding- new facilities, fleeing a crappy conference, firing a coach and signing a five star WR. My concern was that, as a fan, I don’t want that big donor to say he is tapped out from paying for a new swim center weight room, and can’t help with the roster.

You’ve satisfied my curiosity that this shit is managed, and that was all I needed.
