  1. True for me. I'm even a brk.b shareholder now.
  2. A lawyer I know is saying that if a person on bail is convicted of a crime in another jurisdiction that’s grounds for revocation? so theoretically all Jack Smith has to do is file motion, and Trump would be reminded into custody in Florida? I know that sounds highly unlikely and is wishful thinking on my friends behalf. This is the same guy that had himself kidnapped and attempted to have himself ransomed when he was a teenager.
  3. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_books I mean, its not as popular as Harry Potter, but as far as I can tell there is only one book on that list that specifically deals with alcoholism.
  4. Looking forward to a report. I sure wish they would build the long-promised pier to replace the shore fishing area of rollover cut. You can always wade fish the bay side of the old cut, but thinking about it I wonder if that area is even productive anymore without the tidal action. Putting this out there - if you want to fish Sabine on Saturday or Sunday, let me know. You could meet me in Port Acres and we could fish Keith Lake or even SW LA in my boat. That's an open invitation to all of you, by the way.
  5. Scottie freed, detective takes a shot at his lawyer and gets new pants. ‘Saul Good, Man.
  6. The last convo I had with El Diablo IRL before he shrugged off this mortal coil was about the satisfaction in peeing in one’s yard. RIP, sweet prince.
  7. If you're not going to attend an accredited college of Law, David, why even bother going? This dumbass needs to get punched. Now lets count how many “Republicans” vote straight D ticket in November? That's my plan at least. Lmfao@ arguing with a Phelan over legacy.
  8. Pretty much, or the Broussards, Sherlocks, Greens, Crutchfield, Giglio, Jenkins, Daleo, Rayzors, or Dishmans. Lan, Mollie, and I were all class of ‘90 at Kelly, and Phoebe, Keely, and Pat were a few years ahead. Now that my dad has passed, Pat Phelan and his wife Katherine have filled in as surrogate parents. I love and respect them greatly. They do it for public service, not to line their pockets. Dade’s wife Kim and my wife Kim are close. That peckerhead Covey was a mouthpiece, nothing more. This is also a loss for Trump, as he had endorsed Covey.
  9. I voted early on Friday, and maybe my ballot was flagged as a provisional or required further scrutiny because I changed addresses within district 21 several weeks ago. Today is the runoff. I've received 3 phone calls today from Phelan’s uncle, my stepbrother, and my wife’s stepsister with “hey the rolls show you haven't voted yet, what gives?” That's crazy to me. My wife asked me earlier who the Democratic candidate will be in November’s general. I just laughed and asked her what candidate in their right mind would dive into this shitshow.
  10. The Bastogne episode is the most uncomfortable hour in television history, but I persevered. Annual Memorial Day tradition like no other.
  11. Thats the problem with behavioral issues, they are contagious in that the symptoms cause suffering to nearby civilians. I wouldn't be surprised if Grayson’s fiance was forced to detach with love after a rough night. My wife has never seen me drunk, and we have an agreement that if I were ever to suffer a relapse I would not expect her to stay with me. For me, sobriety is paramount. But suicide is a whole different animal. One of my best friends left us about 2 months ago and last week I had an extremely vivid dream where he showed up alive, about 2 weeks after the funeral. We didn't know whether to be angry or happy! I felt like an asshole for being mad. I called a few of our friends and told them of my dream and they understood.
  12. Overnight brisket, and ribs and chicken tomorrow. Makes me wish I had the 700 when I try to do all 3 in one day.
  13. Coming up on a year since my nephew took his life at home. My sister and BIL are in the process of moving halfway across the country to get a fresh start. As a recovered alcoholic, I've seen way too many people die by suicide. 3 in the last year. Back to Golf, does Scottie win today and then hold his kid up to the crowd a la Lion King, and then in 20 years the kid starts winning tournaments?
  14. Does real estate conveyed upon inheritance get stepped-up cost basis, like stocks?
  15. That has to be bots, right?
  16. Never a good sign. Here is what we puued up to at the ramp today. An hour later and our friends report they still can't pull the guy’s truck and trailer up.
  17. And in 2 weeks, historically, the winds lays down and those conditions prevail. But this climate change makes that a wish, lately. I'll probably go fish tomorrow, today we are going with 2 other couples to break in my buddy’s new 36’ Concept go fast boat. My rules are simple, when we stop to swim I don't care if the music is loud, but it has to be mellow.

  19. Is that 90% a latino thing? Honest question. I sponsor a catholic Latino (a few years back he got drunk, took the company truck out to score cocaine, ended up totalling the truck and getting a DUI - getting his company sued -and didn't get fired.) and he is very conscious of this cultural reaction. His first 2 years was me echoing “nobody gives a fuck if you don't drink, but they will if you go to prison or die in a ditch” Like I’ve said, my dad showed up at AA in 1992 and realized his lawyer, banker, real estate partners, etc were all members and always joked that he wished he had arrived sooner. I entered the software business 2 years ago on the counsel of a 20-year friendship - “you'd be good at this because you're sober and I know the way you think” as my only real qualifications. And its as if God granted me sobriety so I could try hard things. What a blessing. @macanudo I haven't mentioned it, but you've been in my thoughts for years, I'm always pulling for you because you've been through the stuff that terrifies me.
  20. Checking in. Unlike some heavy drinkers that show up in this forum from time to time, there's no way in hell I could stay stopped without the sober mafia of Alcoholics Anonymous. My goodness I loved drinking. I didn't want to stop. But like a punch in the face the disease made it plain that I had to choose which I loved more, drinking or breathing. Quitting is easy, and Harrison if you can abruptly put it down without difficulty then my hat is off to you. I always had a problem staying stopped. My brain forgets the bad stuff, and inevitably I’d start looking for excuses to escape and drink. My chemistry experiment lasted 22 years before I was ready to tap out. Please PM me your number if you want to talk, I love talking about recovery.
  21. It sure would come in handy when I do strict keto. Decided to play tourist and do the freedom trail before my flight out. Chowder and shepherd’s pie at Warren Tavern by Bunker Hill. If it was good enough for George Washington…
  22. Ended up at Empire as the guest of a business partner and a loud hilarious dude from Broadcom. Cool ambiance, food was just OK, I’d stick to the sashimi if I went again. I'll try to swing by ocean prime tomorrow. Ended up at Empire as the guest of a business partner and a loud hilarious dude from Broadcom.
