  1. True story. I had a drinking dream (it’s a thing us recovered alcoholics have from time to time) where I was at an AA meeting and someone showed up with a cold 12 pack of Bud and started passing them around and I was WTF because nobody seemed to notice that someone brought beer to AN AA MEETING! I went through a whole phase of similar dreams about 7 or 8 years ago. I’m (was) a scotch drinker and I haven’t imbibed alcohol in almost 13 years but if the world was allowed one American Lager beer it should be Budweiser.
  2. Online or when I visit Avery Island. Wife buys a case of it and gives some away for Christmas.
  3. Hackberry Rod and Gun club. Labor Day weekends brought to you by Trinity industries, for customers and state legislators and their older offspring. Back when Terry Schaunessy owned the place. Fish limit by 10, get drunk, nap and sober up, dove hunt at 4. Did it for 10 years until the Feds cracked down on shooting over a “baited*” field. Arrested but released. I did get to watch a TX congressman try to kick an ex NFL linebacker’s ass, in front of a TX senator and state judge. I miss when Democrats ran the state. Nobody was mean without reason, and grift usually included overages for things like fishing boats, not granite countertops. /cr
  4. Fished the Chandeliers a lot in the 80s and 90s when we had a place in Bay St. Louis. In the 70s dad and my uncle were camping and fishing there and got caught by a storm surge, waves breaking over the tent, and the float plane pilot was a day late. Crazy.
  5. Agreed. More of an expose of how sick he is than any compelling recovery story.
  6. I’ve got a weird bro crush on Groff. Did anybody see Dead Man Walking at the Met?
  7. “Do you want to go see Creed in concert?”
  8. My rationale is if it's something she know I like, buy enough for both of us. Especially peanut butter crunch Quest bars.
  9. Just took this pic About to be the most popular sticker in Texas
  10. Anyway, gorgeous day, specks and stingrays.
  11. My damned dogs kept me up all night and I ended up sleeping late. But I can't resist. (I don't trust the app, btw. I think it's a placebo.)
  12. Thanks for the excuse to throw my spotify algorythm an outlier. Catchy.
  13. I started college at 17, agreed.
  14. I got a good one, topic wise. Just found out that Merrill Kelly, who will likely be starting pitcher for the Dbacks in tomorrow nights World Series game, is my Aunt’s sister’s ex-husband’s grandson. I never met the guy and barely remember his father but apparently half the family is going to the game.
  15. Agreed. We called it greyshirting, but redshirting works too. I was an August birthday and the 3rd youngest in my class and I hated it. There were even a few kids over a year older than me, and I went to a small private school with a class size of 40 from 2-8th and was always conscious of it. My son was June 30 and he did kindergarten twice but one at San Antonio Academy and once at Keystone (fuck me, right? $$$$) specifically so he would be an older kid. An extra year of childhood.
  16. I'm going to hell. I can't even.
  17. What we have here is a powerful recovery story baking in the oven. Perhaps not. All I know is I got a call from a sober friend yesterday afternoon - “be at the men’s meeting tonight, I have a newcomer who agreed to attend his first meeting.” Hell yea, I’m there.
  18. I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. My first words when entering the house, post-op, were “Wow, interesting paint scheme. I like it.”
  19. My favorite gumbo eating vessel. From Nottoway Plantation in Iberville Parish.
  20. Username was established when I was a drunken troll high on Briles’ touchdown supply. Honestly I’m thinking about changing it.
  21. Fine. Make me do all the work. *married a Boudreaux, she actually does it all.
