  1. My Friday men’s lunch group includes a friend who owns a glass company. For over 10 years my standard greeting is “Hey buddy, how’s business? You need me to go out and create some demand? I’ve got a bag of rocks in my truck, it won’t take me long.”
  2. That pilot’s name? You guessed it - Whit Whitaker.
  3. That makes total sense for P66. CP is about to start merging Marathon into their lower 48 operations.
  4. Over 1,000 employees. But most of my contacts are in Houston.
  5. That is awesome. Talking about music on the golf course, my 2 close friends tour with another friend - Grammy winning country music star from the 90s - for several weeks each summer. They play golf during off days and then do a concert at night. One day they’re playing and he has his Bluetooth speaker out and SiriusXM country station playing softly in the background, and he starts singing along to himself on the “radio” which got a chuckle. Then he pretends to do some mental math and announces “well boys, my royalties during this round amount to about eighty seven cents”
  6. Me insuring myself against “it’s gonna be an apocalypse hurricane season !!!!!11!!!!!1!
  7. So it must be a classy joint then?
  8. Thanks for all the recommendations, y’all. Anybody know anyone in software procurement at ConocoPhillips and P66 that likes whiskey? Since I’m on a roll. Seriously, they raise $1mm a year for the United Way at a golf tournament at some muni goat track in Bartlesville, which is why I’m there all week as a supporting sponsor.
  9. Moses Malone wore a collar-less Marine Corps T shirt with “Pain is weakness leaving the body” stenciled on the back.
  10. Necrobump, will be in Tulsa/Bartlesville all next week working the ConocoPhillips/P66 United way golf tournament. Is there anything decent in Bartlesville? Any new places in Tulsa that warrant a visit? Haven’t been there since the summer of ‘95 when I started working for Williams just before the move to the Transco tower in Houston.
  11. Buddy Strong on keyboards has filled a lot of Boyd’s space. I can’t wait for the Rock and Roll hall of fame induction in October. I too miss Boyd, but allegedly he was grooming a guy sexually and got sued. It hasn’t really been revealed what terrible things he did that caused the band to move on without him. Dave has publicly stated that he loves Boyd and hope “he gets the help he needs” whatever that is. But like Jeff after LeRoi, and Buddy after Boyd, the band goes on. I listened to the Gorge replay on SiriusXM and Friday night’s set was epic - Two Step followed by Seek Up, that weekend remains a bucket list for me but a huge time and money investment.
  12. The Moses Malone I golfed with is 51, about 5’8”, and works at the ExxonMobil plant. Once I was at the incredible practice complex at Sea Island, getting loose to play the seaside course, when I noticed the only other guy on the range next to me, a skinny dude wearing Boston Celtics ankle socks. Rick Pitino. Luckily I got paired with some retired MDs. I needed to relax and probably wouldn’t be able to if I was paired with an NBA coach.
  13. He was playing gospel music on his Bluetooth speaker.
  14. Thanks for challenging my norms. I’m retired from the dating game, and until today had no cause to contemplate the feminine penis.
  15. My sister moved to Eden Prairie about a month ago, she got to see Walz for a fleeting moment yesterday. https://www.fox9.com/news/gov-walz-minnesota-state-fair.amp
  16. I love random 1st tee pairings. I just played a round with Moses Malone.
  17. Fuck that, I’m thinking a published anthology!
  18. I retract that. Domestic violence isn’t funny. Those grandkids are gonna have a lot to unpack in future therapy sessions.
  19. Did we rule out that his kid was simply trying to escape from him?
  20. I thought the bleach bit was what Kardashians do to their buttholes.
  21. Good post. If anything, his death has me meditating on life’s fleeting temporary nature. I’m sitting at the bar eating a pre-golf lunch and ran into a very close sober friend and her BIL who just informed me about their father’s death. This lady and I have been friends for over 50 years; I think if we held a high school election for “most likely to die young from internal demons” she and I would have topped the list. I have a vague recollection of a house party about 35 years ago where she and I “came to” on the floor next to each other and caught each other’s gaze and we both knew our settings were off. Shortly thereafter I ended up in college, and she ended up in California with a needle in her arm. It’s really nice that we saw each other today, clear eyed and sober. And that I was able to share my heartfelt condolences on her dad’s passing.
  22. I’m confused - an OWGR victory? Edit - ah, I see. Morikawa got the OWGR win today. https://www.owgr.com/events/tour-championship---72-hole-scores-10545
  23. Unsure if it was related to his alcoholism, but last week he was septic, in ICU, waiting for a liver and kidney transplant. I had a gut feeling something was very wrong since his last post was 8/18. At my urging, Brisket contacted his wife and she shared the news. That’s all I know.
  24. Agreed. I love that many soldiers stationed at Ft. Bragg live in Southern Pines and Pinehurst, and hang out at the local courses. Rolling into the Deuce bar after a round was like attending a block party of chopper pilots just back from deployment. I love that the Army also keeps nice courses on base. I’m at that point where I want my kid and his buddies to grow the game and play as many rounds as possible.
