  1. ^^That, and on top on of all you said about the ease and inexpensiveness of a pork butt, it's great for the first cook seasoning of the smoker due to it being 65% pork fat. It's like bathing the inside of the smoker with Crisco.
  2. Man, how'd I miss this post? What honeys. They'll be back in different dog Earth suits and they'll find you.
  3. I was so busy with the slicing I forgot money shots, but my cousin who I was entertaining did send these my way tonight. I all I've got on that, unfortunately. Packer HEB brisket at $3.49/lb and it was a+ in flavor with roughly a- moistness (wasn't the greatest marbling being a packer and all) --
  4. It's the only gas station between Bulverde & Smithson Valley HS on hwy 46. It's a Valero.
  5. I really haven't. That's an interesting observation though. No shade at the WSM, I love mine, but the OKJ is a much superior seal. It leaks smoke/heat nowhere. Even with the Cajun Bandit mods on my WSM I always had a bit of leakage.
  6. Sunset on the south end of Canyon Lake last evening-
  7. Stopped by that Valero by Smithson Valley HS I posted about today. Two breasts and a thigh --
  8. Just got mine in for the MC. Well worth the cost.
  9. Gave the ButtNugget her first big girl chew bone yesterday. She was so excited to have it, but didn't seem to know what to do with it, so I took it away as she just had this confused look. Somewhere in the interim she must have figured things out because when I gave it back to her she gave me this look and then finished it in 15 minutes. "COME AT ME BRO!!!"
  10. Man, what a beautiful coat. I'm a sucker for brindles.
  11. Not my WSM, I'm cheating with the Homo Joe, but I'm still thinking of the Webber, so...
  12. This is the weirdest Texas team I've ever seen.
  13. WE ARE TULANE! What starts here changes nothing.
  14. Ah. Looking at a map I can see that's the kinda country we're talkin' about. Casseroles and other covered dishes too, I'll bet.
  15. There's a Brookshire's on the other side of the lake (Canyon Lake) near the marina where I put my boat in. I always stop and get a box of their yardbird. Solid stuff.
  16. There's a little gas station on HWY 46 in between Smithson Valley HS and Bulverde that has amazingly good fried chicken. I don't mean amazing for a gas station, I mean amazing in the Fried Chicken universe as a whole. Better than any I've found in San Antonio and that includes the Earl Abel's down by The Pearl. Reminds me a lot of McCardy's Fried Chicken in NOLA on Broad St (right up there with Willa Mae's imo). I'll try to get some photo evidence later today. Gives me an excuse to stop by. You've been holding out on me.
  17. It's not so isolated.
  18. It's pretty f'n weird for The University of Texas Baseball Program to not have one legit ace. About as weird as it gets imo.
  19. Compared to us, they all have aces. Shake hands with it.
  20. This is the kind of team that can rise up and surprise here and there. They have done and will continue to do so, but that's as far as it goes. There will be nothing added to the trophy case at the end of this team's season. Nada. Unless there's some hardware for getting DP run out on a rail, that is. Because that could happen.
  21. Yup. 1000% this.
