  1. BS is a rare Bear, that is for certain.
  2. He said they already found one body over 40 miles away. Couple of other dudes there nodded along.
  3. We didn't talk too much darkness, but he did tell me that it would not be surprising if some of the victims ended up in Canyon Lake. That was a sobering comment.
  4. Dropped that brisket and smoked corn on the cob off in Boerne for my son-in-law and his DPS recovery team pals. That hotel parking lot looked like the big DPS Death Star HQ on Lamar. Like an elephant grave yard of black and white SUV cruisers. Anyway, I guess the smoker gods were with me today because this text from him just came though on my drive back to Canyon Lake...
  5. DPS brisket coming along nicely. Close to wrap and rest time--
  6. Ha! One end of it was on the north side of the lake & the other on the south. Perfect complete arch.
  7. And I refuse to believe those little souls weren't responsible for this piece of artwork over Canyon Lake last night. From my balcony...
  8. For the TTWWP crowd...
  9. No idea. I don't want to ask him either. I just got back from NB HEB. Grabbed two big ass Prime briskets and am going to get them on the smoke first thing in the morning and then take them over to his team's hotel in Boerne tomorrow night when they get back for the day. Not sure what I'll hear, but I'm bracing for anything. I just don't know how these guys deal with this stuff. I'm damned near ready to end it when one of my dogs dies. lI just don't see how.
  10. I'll paraphrase his text to my daughter because I believe this has now been figured into the totals. This came over at around 10:45am or so and he's in between Hunt and Camp Mystic --> "We've found 2 kids and the other CID found 3 more. Maybe one from Mystic but not sure. She'd be the right age to be at the camp but no telling. Finding some that weren't at the camp. We're looking. There's so much stacked up. FEMA may be coming in with equipment...". I'm gonna stop there.
  11. Getting buckets in Spring Branch right now. Moving towards the west side of Canyon Lake.
  12. My SIL was evacuated from the Hunt area about 45 minutes ago. "Big wall of water coming your way" was the message they all got.
  13. This. What I would post might really hit some people beyond hard reading this and I do not want to be that guy.
  14. He's not giving a number of all that are missing, just what they've found this morning. He did specifically say that some were "not from the camp".
  15. There's more.
  16. My son-in-law is a DPS detective and is there working recovery with the entire department from Victoria. He just texted my daughter (former Mystic camper). I'm not sure about posting specifics on numbers, but get ready to hear some rough news pretty soon on what they've found this morning.
  17. If "normal" is defined by the abnormal period since 2021 with jack squat for rain (except a good flood Aug '24) then I'd say it would take between 1-2 yrs. We're at about 230,000 acre ft right now and 1 yr ago today we were at 212,000. The red dot I put on today's graph is a pretty good visual of the answer to your question. Coincidently that dot also represent the exact time that I bought my house here. This is why I don't do Vegas --->
  18. There's still 26K cfs coming into Canyon Lk right now. Only 79 cfs being released from under the dam. Definitely not done here.
  19. Oh, it's a dent. From 46.6% to over 63% in 24 hours. That said, still a loooooong way from full.
  20. That stick was at water's edge yesterday morning...
  21. As of this morning -
  22. I think I was thinking of this one. I was living in SA in 2018, so I know I couldn't have been on Lake ATX then. It was more like 7 to 10 days of heavy rain over LBJ/Marble Falls area thing. And right before that the lake was close to an all-time low...
  23. Wow, it was that recent? Man, my recall is fading fast.
  24. ^^I fear he's 100% correct.
  25. Just bonkers. What really blows my mind is thinking back to the last time it filled (2015?) over the course of a week or so. I still remember heading out on Lake ATX about 10 days later and almost hitting a telephone pole floating about an inch below the surface. Watching this it's hard to fathom how much water there was that fell out of the clouds back then.
