  1. Could this have been Timber’s “sliding doors” moment? He would have started at left back most of the matches last season had he not been injured. If he does and performs how we all think he would have (at an elite level), do we bring in Calafiori? Maybe. Or maybe not. Having two really good players at a position (and especially two players who can seamlessly play everywhere on the back line) is a nice problem to have.
  2. One of the most sought-after Italian players tells Juventus “Nah, Imma 💯 join Arsenal.” Now a highly sought-after Spaniard (after winning Euro) tells Madrid and Barça “nah, Imma 💯 win my alll my du-eals at The Arsenal.” What a testament to the culture and project Arteta and Edu are building.
  3. TL;DR… Find My got a co-worker her stolen phone back Shortly after Apple introduced “Lost Mode” in iOS, a coworker had her iPhone stolen by someone else who worked in the area. Her Lock Screen photo was her and her son, so it was immediately evident who this phone belonged to and would have been easy to return. She left it in the restroom, realized it almost immediately, and went back get it. Gone. I remembered Lost Mode from the keynote that year, told her about it, and asked if she had updated to the latest iOS. So she signed into Find My from a desktop PC and she enabled it. The phone didn’t show up immediately because the dude who stole it did think to immediately power it off, but later that night he turned it on from his house. She got a notification, a map location, and an approximate address from which the thief was able to be identified. He confessed when confronted by HR and returned the phone.
  4. Absolutely. The only other Scene 1 Ep 1 would be “Lost.”
  5. Two years ago today. I’d say he chose not just wisely but “holy shit did I dodge that fucking bullet” wisely
  6. We got the "Full Zinny" experience last night. Defensive lapse gifts a goal, then he's involved in the buildup to our goal. I don't suspect he'll be playing much at LB now that Timber is nearing full health and Calafiori has joined. Also, hopefully this is the nail in the coffin of Havartz at left 8. It just doesn't work. Play him up top with Jesus on one of the wings. Zinny clearly has ball skills; maybe he doesn't have the legs/stamina for a MF role, but preseason would have been the time to test it. All in all.... eh. We lost 2-nil to manure last preseason, IIRC. Stadium looked damn near full; never would have thought two EPL clubs would have sold out an NFL stadium when I started following Arsenal in 1998.
  7. Pretty much.
  8. I thought their fries were packing peanuts. Actually, packing peanuts would be an upgrade on In-n-Out fries. During the last school year, my daughter got a coupon for a free Braums combo meal from her teacher that we finally got around to cashing in the other day. Ordered their bacon cheeseburger combo and was blown away by how good it was. Crisp lettuce and tomato, bacon with a crunch, hot and juicy burger cooked perfectly, cheese that didn't need 10 seconds in the microwave to get melty (cough cough whataburger cough). The crinkle-cut fries were burn your fingers hot and perfectly salted. All the staff were very friendly and competent. Oh, and I could walk over and get a double-dip mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone for dessert. We all left very impressed. A++ all around, Braums.
  9. Yeah Checo brings the Mexican audience and cash. A Mexican GP without him (especially one where got canned mid-season) would draw maybe half what it normally would, and I'd imagine he brings quite a few fans to Austin and Vegas as well. I'd also suspect the main reason is RBR looked at Danny and Liam and perhaps thought neither was a slam dunk to perform better than Perez.
  10. Some comments on Merino. Seems he'd slot well into our midfield. "Merino is the type of midfielder Arteta would create in a lab if given the chance. He is press-resistant, creative, combative and, above all, a duel-winning machine; Merino won more aerial duels (168) than any other midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues last season. Like Rice, who Arsenal paid around £105m for last summer, Merino is an impressively complete midfielder. He can step forward as a No 8 and lead the press, as the Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard often does, but he can also defend deep as a No 6 when required, whether that be alongside another player or on his own. Merino even has experience of playing alongside Odegaard: they were in the Real Sociedad team that won the Copa del Rey in 2020. Merino was the man of the match in the final." https://www.theguardian.com/football/who-scored-blog/article/2024/jul/30/spain-midfielder-mikel-merino-ideal-arsenal-mikel-arteta
  11. Also need another defensive MF because Partey will get injured and miss five months.
  12. I mean... we've increased the talent just a smidge, would you say? Tierney I still think would have been great for us had he not been so brittle. Wish him nothing but luck. Hopefully he can stay healthy and show his quality in every match but two (OK, I'll allow him a goal or two in 4-2 Arsenal wins).
  13. Wow... I'd have thought he was holding out for the RB seat. Although if Jezza's exclusive of Adrian Newey house-hunting in Oxfordshire not Maranello wind up being true, then perhaps Carlos chose wisely after all.
  14. EA needs to fix the commentary. Good lord, the Fowler/Hebie announcing team in this game is awful. I recently won a game on a Hail Mary as time expired, and Fowler's call went something like this: "Takes the snap, throw it deep, and it's caught. Touchdown." Brad Nessler commentary in the series when it was called "NCAA Football" was usually good and always seemed "game appropriate." Maybe the Fowler recorded such calls but the code isn't populating them at the proper moments? IDK. But this area of the game needs fixing in a patch. Oh, and they really need to get Gus and Joel in a future version as an alternate broadcast team.
  15. Is it two hours of fan service? Yes. Was the plot development process likely Reynolds in a room with a few other dude getting baked and saying, “you know what would be awesome? Let’s get [insert actor here]”? Highly likely. Does any of that matter? Nope. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. What a fun movie. Will definitely see again.
  16. Yup. Spa 100% needs to be on the calendar every season.
  17. Also reportedly Barça couldn’t find the cash Nico Williams has opted to remain at Bilbao. At least until Madrid decide they want him or Barça find the cash.
  18. At our darkest, he was one of the glimmers of light. December 2020, West Brom, in the snow. He was so good in that match (him and Tierney). I was sure he and Saka would lead our line for a decade, but I don't blame him for wanting to leave for regular playing time and wish him nothing but success. Hopefully he can stay healthy. This one hurts.
  19. Bob is the perfect fit for aggy: a thin-skinned blowhard with little actual knowledge about CFB who turns into a little bitch when presented with the litany of aggy failures. Klatt dragging his nuts on aggy every week and Bob getting pissy about it is one of my favorite parts of football season.
  20. #RollsRoyce
  21. Finally got my copy yesterday and spent an hour or two doing the "tutorials" and free practice to familiarize myself with the new controls. Holding the button to keep on triple and read-options and not handoff is still frying my brain. Passing.. yeah there's a learning curve. And this. Being able to spell RB or WR from the playcall screen in "14" was so damn useful. Just bring that back. Overall the gameplay is fun and graphically, yeah it's beautiful. Hopefully EA patches some of the issues, but I'm so glad this game is back.
  22. Who would try that? And you know all you degenerates would, too. Only thing is Imma bet the Royals are charging $60, whereas we all could probably whip up that bitch with what we have in the fridge right now.
  23. https://metro.co.uk/2024/07/22/arsenal-55m-star-becomes-top-transfer-target-saudi-club-al-ahli-21270668/?ito=newsnow-feed £105m, and even then I’m not sure. Losing Nelson, ESR, Eddie, and Jesus in one window is a lot to replace. Any striker we target as a replacement would have his value jacked sky-high by the selling club.
