  1. A simple breffiss, but one we have every year in our little home. Merry Christmas, you filthy & surly animals.
  2. if only Rolls-Royce didn’t get hurt last year…
  3. For sure. Your guess of ~ 85 to win it seems right. Arsenal are expectedly off last seasons blistering 1st half pace but are more solid in MF with Rice. Liverpool are Liverpool again, Villa… no words for the job Emery has done, Spurs are vastly improved under Ange, and City will get KDB back soon. West Ham, Saudi, and Brighton are damn good on their day. The League is deeper than last year, and the top six or seven seven will take more points off each other. Unfortunately this. They’ve dropped points without Rodri and KDB; both will be back in their XI soon (unless Rodri keeps getting himself suspended). Until they don’t, I expect them to flip the Terminator switch and reel off 10 consecutive wins or however many are necessary to clinch the league. First half of last year, they never went more than three matches without dropping points. Then won 12 in a row.
  4. Yup. Three would have been phenomenal, but a point at Anfield is always a good result.
  5. Damn that was a good chance; Saka or Martinelli should have scored. They’re too good to waste opportunities.
  6. Zinny’s getting skinned; we almost need Kiwior at HT. If we can make it to HT level…
  7. We’re missing Tomi something fierce today.
  8. Nervous about this one. Still… Lets. Fucking. Go.
  9. Which also means they’ll all be leaving for AFCON immediately after.
  10. Honestly, I'd trade a loss in the FA Cup for six points in the PL. 1989, 1991, 2002, and 2004 have two things in common: The Arsenal won the League, and The Arsenal won at Anfield. The two seem related. Only 1998 did we lose at Anfield and go on to win the league (and that one maybe deserves an asterisk: We won ten consecutive to chase down ManUre, clinched the league with two matches to spare, and then a clearly still-hungover Arsenal lost their next match at Anfield.)
  11. Today's lunch (a double-meat WB Jr, add bacon, cheese, and grilled japs, w/ onion rings) slammed with extreme prejudice.
  12. Porto are always tricky, but we should be able to get through. I'm glad we avoided Inter.
  13. What a player; every match, minimum eight out of 10. Worth every penny.
  14. Not our sharpest performance, but three point and moving on.
  15. Good news, but fuck the FA and PGMOL. De Zerbi running onto the pitch didn't elicit a card, yet Mik got carded and suspended for jumping up to celebrate a 97' winner, in an away match, at the ground with the smallest technical areas, which suspended him for a top-4 clash. PGMOL really fucking hates us; we shouldn't expect any calls to go our way. Maybe Kroenke needs to pay for all the refs to have an all-expense-paid vacation to Colorado to ref his grandkids' youth leagues. Fuckers.
  16. No, there's a draw for the Round of 16. Group winners v runners-up (exceptions being you cannot face another club from your country or a a club in your group). ManUre... They just need to give Ten Hag another 10 years.
  17. Elneny looked like a hamstring. Dude just can't stay healthy. We are seriously thin in MF.
  18. Emery always has been a very good manager, but he had a near-impossible job in taking over late-Wenger Arsenal. Front office was unsettled (multiple sporting directors in his 1.5 seasons), a dressing room with senior players who didn't buy-in and undermined him, and fanbase clearly upset at the malaise that had set into the club. Despite that, he had us on a ~ 10-match winning streak his first season, made the EL Final (which to this day I firmly believe we would have won had we faced a European side instead of a London Darby v Chelski in Baku), and brought Academy products Saka and ESR through to the first team. Nothing but respect for him, and I hope he leads Villa to a second place finish this year - behind us of course. It took Arteta a few years to get the rot out of the club, fully backed by a stabilized front office of Josh and Edu, and KSE's funding once they acquired 100% ownership of the club.
  19. So I avoided PL news all weekend for so that wouldn't get spoiled for me? Exactly this. Should have had at least a draw but Villa took their chance while we wasted our three. Villa have won their last 15 home matches since we beat them last year. Not "unbeaten" with a few draws mixed in; Won. Cannot afford to be profligate with great chances against a side that good. Flush this "poopah" as Jamie Tartt would say and move on; hopefully ZERO first XI play in Eindhoven this week.
