  1. I think that was accidental, but "You wouldn't know abou them" was intentional.
  2. I saw this on reddit/baseball but haven't verified myself. At the risk of pulling an @ocugolf, who is the only pitcher to face the last three single-season HR record holders? Bonus: how many homers did he give up to this trio?
  3. I am sure she is referencing AOC holding her hands behind in her back expecting handcuffs when she was arrested at the abortion protest. Now of course she is really really dumb so the reference doesn't land but that's one of the new right wing gotchas.
  4. Uh, you know that should go in the satirical tweets or funny images or whatever, right? I mean it would be cool if were real but...
  5. Gee Simple Slorch, I wonder why this might be about guns. You can say it should be prosecuted, but it wasn't. Even if he didn't kill the little girl, there is no fucking way it is justifiable to shoot someone leaving after stealing 20 bucks. This doesn't happen without guns. And nobody in this thread is even talking about gun control, just the simple observations that we have a culture that says it's ok to shoot kids if you're trying to shoot someone else.
  6. Yesterday a jury in Harris County no-billed a dude who shot and killed a nine year old because he got confused and fired into the wrong pickup truck. From the linked article: This could go in one of the "What the hell is wrong with ...." threads but seemed relevant. And for those curious, it turns out Earl was not out on bond as that seems to be a popular topic to bring up by certain interests.
  7. Weird, you're so good at googling numbers, figured you'd be automatic by now.
  8. Sure, but the judge will also presumably not just ignore the fact that Elon specifically waived due diligence. Yes Twitter may have understated bot count to a significant degree but it's not like Elon didn't have ample opportunity to review before offer. I am not even a TV lawyer, let alone real one, but wouldn't be surprised if this placed much more of the burden on Elon than on Twitter.
  9. Disingenuous may have been too harsh but even in general situations, whenever I see anyone list only pros of one decision while not acknowledging there are cons (even if the pros significantly outweigh the cons), it makes my Spidey sense tingle. I also don't think the flexibility of moving or home repairs are even specific factors. Those apply to all rent / buy decisions. Now the overall weighting of each factor will 100% vary based on specifics, but they (should be) part of a general framework. Most importantly, I replied to your post just as it was one of the most recent but I certainly wasn't trying to call you out personally or professionally as I know your post isn't the same as a 1:1 conversation.
  10. Not just singling you out but I've seen this similar sentiment on this thread and others. I do believe that for most people, if they can afford to buy then it is a good decision. But I also think it is a bit disingenuous to say "help you make the best financial decision" when you don't include home repair (both $ and time costs) that are avoided by renting as well as employment / quality of life flexibility from renting. Moving sucks and I would be thrilled if I never moved again but if I had to, there is less risk in renting than owning. I totally understand that your post is not would you would necessarily say to an actual client but if I had a realtor / mortgage broker/ advisor ignore the benefits of renting when showing the advantages of equity, I would consider that person a bullshit artist.
  11. I know you know this but any such topic that was created would be deleted within minutes.
  12. Have you all been living under a rock w/r/t police obligations? There is nothing they can be arrested for. The Supreme Court has literally ruled that police have no legal obligation to protect and/or serve. A cop could just sit there and blow bubbles while watching someone mow down 50 kids and there would be no legal penalty. Conversely they can kill someone in a plaid shirt and suffer no penalty because there was only a department policy against killing someone in a striped shirt. Ok, that last part had just a bit of hyperbole but not the first. There is nothing these shit bags can be arrested for.
  13. I believe that @Bookman was referencing @Vegas64 who a couple of days ago said: "I think worst case scenario is Elon bullies his way to renegotiate a better deal under false bot pretenses because Twitter will capitulate." I
  14. Universal translator yo. It works wonders (except of course for Tamarians and their dumb metaphor-based language).
  15. Octopi has never been correct. That's because octopus is of Greek origin, not Latin.
  16. Embrace it and toughen up! Of course if you can't afford a $436 water bill for your landscaping or a 15KW unit (and a lot of electrical work done so the house can hook up to it) then you're pretty well fucked and might die. That is indeed what makes Texas, Texas.
  17. @Hank Kingsley - not sure if you're still banking the Pete drum but I think of you when I think of Pete. This may be one of the best responses to a loaded abortion question I've seen.
  18. No drama, no hat game, just letting himself have this day. Hook 'em young man!
  19. I think it's pretty clear that @RGBIII fucked up the petition.
  20. To be clear I don't think this 10 year old was "looking for dick". I didn't see in the article that she was a victim of rape. On second read I do see that she was referred to the clinic by a sexual assault doctor, so presumably was a victim of some bad shit. Even if she wasn't sexually assaulted, clearly she wouldn't be old enough to meaningfully consent to any sexual relationship and I would surmise that she was coerced in some way. I wasn't trying to cast aspersions on her at all and if I gave that impression then I chose my words poorly. More just railing at the system.
