  1. Not to state the obvious but something is pretty broken for a 10-year old to be sexually active at all, let along getting pregnant. She should of course have access to abortion and other reproductive care, and shouldn't have to travel to another state, but this story is gross for multiple reasons. I don't know how common this is (suspect and hope it is super rare) but in a functioning society there would be more resources dedicated to prevention of scenarios like this.
  2. Sure. But just like Wulaw absolves Harden for leaving Houston even though Harden was an instrumental part in Harden getting Westbrook and Paul over to Houston, Durant was an instrumental part in getting Kyrie and Harden over. Demand a trade after the situation he helped create didn't work out doesn't look great. Perfect legal, nothing unethical, but distasteful (imo).
  3. Ok, you just inspired me. I had watched the Wisconsin one and was so depressed that I avoided the Arizona one. This one is also depressing certainly but holy shit it is amazing. Mama Mia!
  4. Yes but again they are not as good as if he had not publicly declared he wanted a trade. I certainly agree that this is better for the Nets than if he hadn't signed, but that's not the baseline anymore. He signed, that's the new baseline. Now the comparison is not "Durant demanding a trade" vs "Durant not signing", it's "Durant demanding a trade" vs "Durant playing out his contract".
  5. Bit of a weird take here. I don't think anyone is saying Durant signing the extension is worse than him not signing. Have you seen that argument? The harm for Brooklyn is not based on whether he signed or not. They wanted him signed, they offered him a financial agreement to pay him for 4 years of service, he agreed, and then he changed his mind. Brooklyn is going to get value but they will very likely not get as much value as Durant himself - that's just the way trades for megastars work. That's where the harm is. It's of course perfectly legal but a bit distasteful.
  6. You must be an incredibly shitty lawyer. Being against a law banning something doesn't mean I'm for that same thing. I believe you've stated in the past you are against criminalization of marijuana. Do you consider yourself in favor of minors being given marijuana then? I am for doctors and patients being able to discuss and decide upon appropriate treatments and interventions.
  7. I like this a lot more with team option year 3, and I hope (but know that's not the case) that in year 1 the bonus is tied to games lost.
  8. Lol, I'm not even mad. That's why baseball is the best.
  9. Man his trade value could have been just a tiny bit higher with a bit more lift.
  10. Durant is sure as shit not alone in this. Contracts mean nothing in the NBA. It's bizzaro world in which I might actually be rooting for the owners in the next contract dispute. Players forcing trades with multiple years on contracts is fucking ridiculous.
  11. Agreed, forgot about the Bucks. He will get some shit for sure if he goes to the Suns / Miami / wherever but as long as it's not the Bucks, Celtics, or Warriors I think those calling him out over any given destination would be in the minority.
  12. I agree with you that Kyrie deserves the large majority of blame for this situation but Durant is not blameless. He was the lead agent in getting Kyrie over to Brooklyn, and there were clear warning signs about Kyrie's willingness to march to his own beat even at the time. The chance of this blowing up over any random thing was higher with Kyrie than it would have been with a different player, and this does (imo) impact Durant's legacy. Not the lead cause but a cause of this collapse. Now 100% would not call him a pussy / bitch / etc., over this situation.
  13. I think even the Lakers wouldn't be bad for his image. It would be bad for him as that team is too broken / old but it is not a super team. Same for the Lakers - they have no history and PGIII and KL are both too nutso / injury prone to be viewed as a super team. I think the Warriors (for obvious reasons) and Boston are probably the only two franchises that he would get pasted for if he joined.
  14. Come on, it's Key-Largo, it's right in her twitter feed. Next you'll ask what CB stands for.
  15. I accept your nomination. Errr, I am one of them, right? I'll govern just like Sack, I pinky swear!
  16. Eh, this is the last I'll say just because I don't think anyone wants to read a bunch of back and forth, but I don't think we are super far off. My argument is that saying he's okay with Jan 6 / daughter carrying rapist child is more disingenuous because he would (again truthfully) respond that he's not ok with those things. On a scale of 1 to 10, those might even be a nine on the "Susan Collins" concern scale. But his desire for more money is a ten on that same scale. Yeah I'm selfish about my career. It uses resources and energy and all that stuff. But I also work to offset that in both my voting and giving activities. There is nothing a priori wrong about being selfish, on that I agree.
  17. This makes no sense at all. By his account (and I fully believe him) he isn't in favor of recent SC decisions or Jan 6, the big lie, etc. So no criticism there. But he will continue to vote for those outcomes despite that because his salary is more important. If someone votes for the "beat black people and get a free puppy" party and (again, truthfully) says "hey, I like black people, I don't want to beat them but I can't turn down a free puppy", is it wrong to criticize the result when black people are beaten? Is that weak?
  18. You're right. We should all stop consuming anything made with petroleum products. Very strong "and yet you participate in society" vibes. He is transparently selfish and in such a way that he has made a conscious decision that his salary overrides abortion access, fair access to voting, living school children, a functioning democracy, etc. He is likely a swell guy to have a beer with, and may express sorrow for all of those things but still votes to take all those things away.
  19. It's fucking bizarre. To his complete credit he's the most transparent poster I've ever seen about his priorities, and people still act flabbergasted.
  20. So, would you confidence in Hill be something like 60.4279% chance? Approximately?
  21. Ah yes, my college days of drinking elite Captain Morgan, elite Smirnoff, and mixing in elite Baileys. Whatever would I have done without those elite alcohols.
  22. Every time I see this magnificent gif I am re-amazed that it isn't from SNL or a sitcom but rather an actual court case:
  23. I should have used /s tag - I am certain that nobody actually thought you were the Penelope in the question. My bad.
