  1. After a great final four, results are in. Regardless of winner between Kansas and North Carolina, @MotownHorn will finish with the most point and @hobbs will finish second. Congrats to both! Also regardless of the winner, there will be 22 people with 23 entries (counting @Knoxtnhorn's cat) that beat @Wulaw Horn (excluding 1st and 2nd place winners). The leaderboard tab is updated with round 5 results - thanks again to @Wulaw Horn for setting this up! >>Link to spreadsheet<<
  2. This really is a hell of a game, and makes me glad I don't really give much of a shit about either UNC or Duke other than just casually enjoying the rivalry.
  3. Fair enough. I do agree with the general sentiment that name on diploma is overvalued but also think it is a little facile to just handwave away where the majority of professional jobs are. Agree to disagree on that point.
  4. Ok, not trying to be a jerk, but if you take west coast, north east, and big population centers in-between, what are the big hubs for tech, finance, etc.? I'm not saying there aren't any but certainly less than half of the total jobs right? Probably less than 1/3? Edit: I'll be a bit more specific - give me Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston - just those 4 MSAs. You think that, plus the aforementioned west coast + NE isn't the bulk of big law, finance, or tech?
  5. Tell me you're replying to @Incredulity without telling me you're replying to @Incredulity.
  6. Without getting into a dick-measuring contest of who's doing more good for POC, do you agree that your proposed system inherently results in what Pancho described? That is, if it works as designed, the result is not teaching POC about history while also denying them places in universities?
  7. I know I shouldn't express shock at the lack of actual content in your post, but what is the broken brain part? Are you saying Farid has the broken brain? The Ivermectin study? The fluvoxamine study? I <think> that Farid is expressing irritation irritation about the quality of journal that the respective studies were published in and not either of the actual studies. That said, I don't know (and I suspect that the vast majority of people reading this don't know) much about the relative impact that NEJM vs Lancet has. I know enough to know that, say, getting a paper published in Science or Nature is a big deal but once you go down a tier, you've lost me. Do you think she has a point?
  8. Look you know your shit about geopolitics, but settle down on the relative importance of the butthole. /@NowThis
  9. The first thing that pops to my mind is Mike Trout for his first couple of MVP seasons with the Angels. Like Jokic he played for teams that were never really in playoff contention, and for whatever reason has not been big on any endorsements. Sportswriters certainly wrote about him but I don't think he was viewed as Mr. Excitement in the media.
  10. Maybe, but for all of the criticisms about Westbrook (and good lord, there are many!), him pretending to be something he's not is not one of them. He's a clear detriment to his team but I think he's usually pretty damn upfront about what he's feeling. I think he did get irritated but calmed down pretty quickly and things never really got heated. I agree weird but not what that tweet headline said.
  11. Wow, that headline promised a lot more of an disagreement than the actual video. I'd be really hard-pressed to call that an "altercation".
  12. I tend to agree with you. I do strongly suspect that Chrispy is the same person as Donkey/Turkey, and I also suspect that Bravo is of the tjhooker lineage but most other accusations seem pretty tenuous. Fozz had a fairly distinct voice. I think there may have been one sock created right after fozz was sourced, @lmao, but I think that account was also sourced fairly quickly. But all of these users seemed pretty domestic. Pegging them as Russian trolls is certainly possible but doesn't seem likely to me. I also think sock creation is not nearly as prevalent as accusation, which does not lead to a lot of productive conversation.
  13. What a dumb (but admittedly funny) post from a moderator. He's already been crowd sourced as @GRHorn. He admits it, there's no guessing. So why does it fucking matter if he is sourced again? He just creates a new handle, nobody has him on ignore list so he shits on more threads and creates more drama. This is at least purportedly what you don't want, but your policy on socks isn't aligned to that. I don't really care what the policy is but bitching on people to put users on ignore lists and then asking people to crowd source trolls just so they can create a new account is really stupid.
  14. Man I did not enjoy this game. Severe PTSD from 2018 watching the Rockets miss 27 3-pointers in a row against the Warriors in game 7 of the western conference finals. It's not like I even cared that much if Houston won or lost, just the way they lost.
  15. LBJ obviously isn't MVP and won't win MVP but he is a superstar player having a very good season. A coach trying to keep a superstar happy in this situation is maybe number 4 million on the list of stupid things coaches have said.
  16. Agreed, but you mean Gray. I only remember because I always smile whenever I see @Intercourse With Gray post.
  17. So in your defense of crypto's energy usage you made a point that bitcoin is not the only crypto. I'm glad all of the scammy ones are at least energy efficient, so they've got that going for them.
  18. Yes, they report the findings given to them by Interior Department Inspector General Mark Greenblatt, nominated by Trump. Surely even you would agree that Trump was not known for nominating strong, ethically-sound and independent thinkers. It could be true, I don't know, but I sure as hell am not going to take anything said by anyone appointed by Trump at face value.
  19. But you literally just said "The worst thing we could do is let the government or administrators at Twitter/FB/IG decide what information should reach us." Does that mean you think that all platforms should publish whatever is submitted with no filter? Because that alternative is that they do indeed decide what information reaches us. Just trying to understand your position.
  20. Essentially nobody thinks that the government should decide what information reaches us. But saying administrators of private companies shouldn't is crazy-pants. I agree with you that there is subjectivity (meaning some may advocate for Trump to be banned, some may advocate for AOC to be banned, etc.), but saying they shouldn't decide means that they are by definition forced to host anything. Surely you aren't advocating that private companies should be forced to publish views they don't agree with?
  21. How do you pronounce scuba, radar, laser, or NASA? Do you make sure you pronounce each letter of the acronym like the start of the word it stands for?
