I think a loss for OU is needed if Bama wins. Also need Vandy to lose to Tenn (I dont have faith they will put us in front of them). The conversation needs to be between a 3 loss Texas and 1 loss BYU that loses to Tech again in the Big 12 title game. Both Bama and OU losing would put us in without the need for any beauty pageant.
And the most wins against CFP teams in the country, 3 wins against top 15 teams, the #3 SOS, and the other two losses on the road to the likely #1 seed BIG champion and #2 seed SEC champion. Losses that all other teams in question would have had. And the OSU game was optional from us.
You will get nor argument from me on ND. A 3 loss Texas should be ahead of those clowns. In fact, I dont think ND should even get a spot until they join a conference.
Proving that you dont belong in the field because you literally cant beat one of the weaker CFP teams in Tech, meanwhile Texas will be 2-2 against CFP teams with the only losses coming to the #1 and #2 teams in the country on the road.
So you think 2 loss BYU should go into the CFP over Texas. When... checks notes... they played Portland St, Stanford, and ECU and have 0 wins over a CFP team and 2 losses?
Meanwhile 3 loss Texas will have 3 wins over top 15 teams and 2 in the field and 2 of our losses will be road games to the #1 and #2 overall seeds. Just want to get you on the record for when this situation occurs.
You can laugh all you want but, one, yes we are. And two, our three losses against our body of work and schedule are better than 2 losses from BYU. So fuck off with your dismissive bullshit.
Lets talk about our really fucking good loss then since you only talk about the "bad loss." We lost by one score on the road and went toe to toe with the consensus #1 team in the country and BIG champion. Then let's talk about the fact we beat OU on a neutral field, beat the fighting Pavias/refs, and will soon hand the #3 team their only loss of the season. Let's also talk about how it's highly likely that two of our losses are going to come to the #1 and #2 teams in the country on the road. Both games were 1 score games in the 4th quarter.
They arent, this is the exact same team as last year, they just didnt choke to Auburn/SC/and ND this year. The team last year couldve easily had no losses going into the game against us. This year that is the case but our offense is rolling at the exact right time and this defense knows how to handle Reed, we made him 1 dimensional last year.
Texas 35 - Aggy 17
You know what I hope the committee takes into account. And this is dependent on how the season shakes out, but that we were 2-2 against CFP teams (playing the most CFP teams in the country and having the most wins against CFP teams in the country). That the two losses we had were road losses to the Big 10 champion (overall #1 seed) and the SEC champion (overall #2). That we voluntarily scheduled the defending national champion on the road, while teams like BYU were playing power houses Portland State and Stanford. That we beat another fringe playoff team in Vanderbilt. That we had the #3 SOS in the country.
You all can be doomers and say we shouldve beaten Florida or whatever but every team is flawed at the fringe level of making/missing the playoffs. It's about properly weighing the pros and cons of each team and predicting their potential success in the playoff. Texas will have two skins on the wall and a close showing against OSU that proves they can compete against CFP teams. BYU will have been beaten twice by the only team they played with a pulse. We dont need another handout like we did for SMU last year when they got absolutely dogwalked by an overrated PSU squad. Pick the best teams, period.
