  1. There's also Danielle Hunter and Leonard Williams
  2. There are some good second tier DL options, and having to go that route allows you to allocate more money elsewhere
  3. Wilkins to Las Vegas
  4. Mays/Tice talked about free agency, and mentioned the Texans a few times (going off memory) - Should be players for the top DT (Christian Wilkins) who's going to be very expensive since every team with cap space will be after him, but if Houston doesn't land him, then Leonard Williams for 30% cheaper would make sense for Houston - When asked which team could pay top of the market for the top safety rather than try to find value at the next tiers, Houston was mentioned first - They don't like the Saquon Barkley fit, and think a zone running back who regularly gets you positive yardage makes more sense (like a Henry). Other than RB or a two-way backup TE, they didn't really mentioned Houston on offense - They like Houston for a #3 rotational DE like Espinesa - Teair Tart could be a nice upside roll of the dice for some teams, but Houston could bring him back - They like Houston for a two-way Mike like Jordyn Brooks, or to a lesser extent Azeez Al-Shaair who has experience with Ryans https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/free-agency-preview-best-fits-big-tickets-under-the/id1528622068?i=1000648452479

    2024 NFL DRAFT

Most of the industry and NFL had Young over Stroud, I think. It was probably something like 60/35/5 Young/Stroud/Richardson

This should be the closest to a league consensus top 50 that's in the public sphere at this point
  12. There's an crazy number of average and above average starting safeties now on the market. Houston should be able to get at least one at a good value

He watched every passing play on coach's tape, and he's probably the best film evaluator you'll get in the public space You can argue with his opinion, but arguing that he didn't do the work would be a mistake

Greg Cosell talking about McCarthy- "To me personally, just based on film, I did not see him as a first type player in terms of traits and talent" "He was a system QB at Michigan" "He's a developmental QB" "Often at Michigan on 3rd and long the coaching staff took the ball out of his hands or threw a screen, and that always stands out to me when I watch tape "He's not a high level arm talent guy, he needs his entire body to really drive the ball with juice, he needs that firm base" "Talent wise you have some concerns about him" When asked why people rate him so highly, "That M on his helmet and he wins"
  17. Newton is a popular mock to Houston, but he doesn’t fit what San Fran has gone after early since Shanahan has been there, and he doesn’t fit what NE/Hou have done early since while Caserio was at those places. I think Darius Robinson would be more likely If they go pure edge, then Chop vs Latu is an interesting debate. I’d think they’d go with the cleaner medicals
  18. PSU’s TE Theo Johnson should be rated as a starter. He’s a dude I also like the KSU TE in the Shanahan offenses

    2024 NFL DRAFT

I've seen dozens of "nfl throws" from him. I'm not worried about the arm strength
  20. Mays and Tice talked about how while he's probably a second tier interior DL in the league, he doesn't leave the field; played the most snaps at the position this past year, and the second most two years ago (while playing two fewer games than the leader)
  21. Bowers is a decent blocker if you're not asking him to in-line block DL There's no chance he'll be there at #23. He's unrelated to that move It's a combination of keeping guys around Stroud who he has chemistry with and a lack of cheap options in free agency this year
  22. Who would they trade up for? I see enough players who'll likely still be on the board at pick #23 who are good fits to where I think they might be fit standing pat (Darius Robinson makes a ton of sense, for instance)
