  1. Spread is now -6 at Circa, and -6.5 at some other shops. Will be interesting to see if it crosses into -7 anywhere
  2. Looking ahead to the draft, I'd expect the Cleveland pick to probably end up somewhere in the late teens to early 20s. There's a clear WR1, and then about a half dozen candidates for WR2* with no clear consensus. Over the past decade or so, there have been a lot of great WRs drafted in the mid-first to early second round, so Houston could have an opportunity to draft their WR1 with that pick. * Keon Coleman, Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Xavier Worthy, Emeka Egbuka
  3. Tunsil, Howard, and Scruggs could all return this week
  4. The win ceiling was always higher than many thought, in large part due to a relatively easy schedule. Heading into the season, there appeared to be a lot of winnable games, and Houston just won two of what appeared to be the tougher games on it
  5. Houston appears to have a rookie who's already an above average QB. They need to go all out in the next three years to try to win it all since they'll potentially (assuming he doesn't regress or get figured out) have a good starter on a rookie contract, which should allow them to stack the roster
  6. I was confused about this too
  7. Catching up on Texans on DVR... they have Pittsburg's offense completely scouted. They're running routes for their WRs, they're checking to match their run plays, etc. The score could be worse too One play I was confused about. Houston threw a RB screen (threw it forward, but behind the LOS), and they called an illegal lineman down the field. I thought that was allowed if it's behind the LOS, but I guess its not if the pass is forward? Or maybe the lineman was blocking before the pass was through?
  8. The best way for any non-elite defense to play us is to sit back in 7-8 man coverage, mostly zone, and throw a ton of simulated pressures (sending three or four, but in creative ways meant to confuse our protections and speed up Quinn) at us, so I assume that's what most teams will do
  9. Now that the Ishbia's are busy with the NBA, I wonder if they'll be able to allocate as much money and time towards MSU sports and NIL
  10. Probably somewhere around the #30 job in the country, although Mel Tucker's extension paid like a top five job
  11. Fatheree not playing for some reason probably kills them there

  16. Yes, Newton. I think the other IDL, Randolph, is also good. The edges are solid. It's a good DL. Not a Georgia or Bama or 2023 Texas DL, but still good. I agree that Texas's DL is considerably better.
  17. Illinois has a strong DL and Kansas still manage to move the ball rather easily against their defense, for the reasons you mentioned. Of course, the Texas DL is better, as is the rest of the defense It's now -16.5 in most spots
  18. He didn’t run at all in the first half vs BYU, fwiw. They used him some in the second half to help ice the game
  19. Before Daniels got injured last year, Kansas was running him a lot more (designed QB runs and QB run options), and they had an elite offense in terms of efficiency. They were designed runs because when he scrambles, he's looking to pass the ball first, although if nothing is open he'll run to move the chains. Post Daniels injury, their offense hasn't been quite as efficient (although still very good), I think in large part because they're trying to protect him. There's a line of thinking that Kansas has been saving his running ability for this game. I'm wondering though if they'd rather save him for the rest of the season? They have a good back-up who they can win individual games with, but they're much less likely to run the table post-Texas with that guy than with Daniels. Do you go all out to win Texas and risk injuring Daniels, or do you maintain what's been the post-injury status quo for running Daniels and play for the rest of the season?
  20. The ones I've listened to (including the two I posted above, and also SZD) think that while Kansas is good and interesting, Texas is just too good
