  1. If you're the superior team, you shouldn't want to limit possessions in a game
  2. The six ranked matchups this Saturday are the most on a Saturday since 2006
  3. It's going up against Ohio State and Notre Dame, and to a lesser extent Iowa at Penn State, Oregon State at Washington State, and Arkansas at LSU It probably won't get a ton of national eyeballs unless Texas is in trouble
  4. ESPN's efficiency metric is interesting because it isolates only plays from this current season, instead of using recruiting/transfer data and previous seasons' results like SP+/FPI/FEI; the former is more interesting for seeing how teams are actually performing this year (albeit in a small sample size and noisy set), while the ladder is more useful for gambling In any event, I found it interesting that Rice and Wyoming have played essentially like middle of the pack Big XII teams, while Baylor and Okie State have played like two of the worst teams in the country 1) OU 14) Texas 23) UCF 26) KSU 36) BYU 39) Tech 44) Cincinnati 46) WVU 49) KU 51) Wyoming 52) Rice 55) TCU 78) ISU 90) UH 93) OSU 112) BU https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi/_/view/efficiencies
  5. Reaves got roasted defensively against the good teams they played. Maybe he makes the team as the 12th guy, but I don’t see the argument for giving him a bigger role
  6. Rim pressure, similar to what Schroder did all tournament I’d go with Halliburton though
  7. What's the explanation for Hall and Billingsley? That they had prior relationships with them so they felt they could handle them?
  8. He's by no means a lock, and if it weren't for the program blocking him from the Italian team, he probably wouldn't have been on the varsity squad this past time around
  9. Some Zach Lowe thoughts on the Olympics - From this World Cup team, he'd take 2-3; definitely Bridges, probably Edwards, and maybe Halliburton (mentioned possibly Lillard instead) - His priority would be to get Steph, KD, and Tatum on the team. Wants Steph as the offensive hub. Wands KD and Tatum's two-way shooting and defensive length - Wants Jimmy Butler because he wants a hardass on the team - Mentions that taking Draymond would mean leaving someone else off - As under the radar guys, he'd like Desmond Bane and Brook Lopez to get a look. Talked about how JJJ did nothing at all on offense. Would love for Zion to get a look. De'Aaron Fox needs a look if he keeps getting better.
  10. I watched the first few drives of the second half earlier, and his only bad throw as the shoelace one to Evan Stewart where Evan got stopped short. Otherwise he had two incompletions; a batted ball by a DL, and an INT where Smith slipped on his route. He’s good. Not idea if he regresses at some point, or gets better. A&M better hope that he doesn’t regress
  11. Watch the game. He was good. The rest of the team, not so much
  12. Chris Russell Jr- a 5th year senior who's played a lot who I figured would start this year, but he appears to have gotten passed up Martrell Harris- a soph who hasn't played much With York emerging, their depth isn't quite as dire as I'd thought it was in the offseason, by one body at least

  14. Looking forward to next year, their big hopes are (1) the offense taking a step forward headlined by Weigman, Stewart, Thomas, Green, Owens, and potentially like 7 of their top 8 OL (assuming guys like Fatheree and Foster return), (2) hiring a new DC who'll find a way to actually make their ridiculous DL talent impactful, and (3) having an easier schedule Those are the potential tailwinds However, the potential headwinds are a bunch of seniors potentially leaving (some could return for 5th or 6th years, but some of these guys are definitely leaving) McKinnley Jackson Layden Robinson Ainias Smith Fadill Diggs Demani Richardson Josh DeBerry (the transfer from BC) Isaiah Raikes Edgerrin Cooper They're also likely losing Shemar Turner to the draft early, which would mean likely losing three starters on the DL Here are some other underclassmen who will be draft eligible. None of them scream leaving early to me, but losing any of them would be a blow: Tyreek Chappell Bryce Foster Reuben Fatheree Jardin Gilbert Moose Muhammad Albert Regis It wouldn't surprise me if they also lose Jake Johnson if his brother Max transfers somewhere to start (FSU?) This is all before you get to the potential of transfers if the locker room morale gets bad enough, which I'm not pricing in just quite yet
  15. The construction will be interesting. There are a ton of small guards who are seemingly interested (Kyrie, Lillard, Trae, Fox, Garland), but should you take more than one (Steph)? Those guys get targeted and bullied in high level FIBA. It probably makes more sense to roll with only Steph, and then have a bigger point like Halliburton or Jrue backing him up In regards to which three centers you bring, that can't really be answered until you know Embiid and Davis's statuses. Bam should be on the team regardless. Draymond will probably be on the team since Kerr is the coach. If there's a spot open, you then look at JJJ (he's much better as a third center who you don't have to rely on heavy minutes for) or even Chet, who figures to be a great fit for FIBA if he progresses Then you take two shooting/combo guards in Booker and Edwards, and fill in the rest with wings (KD, Lebron, Tatum, Bridges, Butler, PG, etc). You also consider Reaves since he's a ball mover who can shoot A couple of wildcards are Zion, Kawhi, and Mobley
  16. One of the Bama insiders re Key "Legit game time decision what I’m told."
  17. Yesterday the rumor was that Moore is very much good to go, but Key is more of a gametime decision for next week than this week, but I've been watching the games today instead of board snooping
