  2. Regarding the Watts convo, there are defensive schemes where slower but bigger physical corners can fit in the NFL, and he'll likely get a shot with one of those teams to try and stick at corner before having to move inside
  3. Bama is a zag when you expect everyone else to pick Georgia. But when your partners all also pick Bama, you all just look like idiots
  4. Is it me, or is this Hudson and Tech blurb idiotic?
  5. Pate's problem is his info is mostly from the team 247 sites. Which means he gets his Texas info from fucking Chip Brown Regarding other platforms, there's some other good podcasts out there. I think Bet the Board, Cover 3, and CFB Nerds tend to be relatively well informed. Relatively, because it's impossible to have a deep grasp on every team. I also listen to Split Zone Duo, Unnecessary Roughness, and the Solid Verbal, although those are more entertaining than informative
  6. Sanders is probably the second best TE in the country going into the season, and Banks potentially could be the best LT in the country this year
  7. Doesn't have him listed in his top 25 seniors or top 15 draft eligible underclassmen https://theathletic.com/4770771/2023/08/15/nfl-draft-2024-cornerbacks-kool-aid-mckinstry/
  8. If we're talking draft, here's the best early stuff I've come across so far - Dane sees five sure top ten picks in Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Marvin Harrison Jr, Olu Fashuna, and Amarius Mims - Seems to have Brock Bowers in a slightly different category because he wonders if some NFL teams will be scared off of drafting a TE in the top ten when the position doesn't historically pay off with draft picks that high which could cause him to fall a little from where he should be drafted - Doesn't have any defensive players as top ten locks. Likes the top DEs and Kool-Aid, but doesn't seem to have them as locks at this point - Highest RBs are late 2nd early 3rd types - Really likes the high end depth of the valuable positions (QB, OT, CB, WR, DL) of this draft, which makes this a strong draft in his opinion. Thinks QB and OT are really deep https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/prospects-to-pros-marvin-harrison-jr-brock-bowers-and/id1528622068?i=1000624617337
  9. I like how the "the QBs have struggled because the defense has kicked ass" was quickly followed by "I have concerns about the secondary"
  10. Pate's power ranking/model has Texas #6. FPI has Texas at #5 and SP+ has Texas at #9. These generally don't take things like injuries and coaching changes into account, so they're useful as a starting point, and then you can tinker and put your thumb on the scale after thatIf you do a straight even weighted average of the three, the top twenty are1) Georgia1) Ohio State3) Alabama4) Michigan5) LSU6) Texas7) Penn State'8) USC'8) Clemson10) Tennessee11) Oregon12) Notre Dame12) Florida State14) Utah15) OU16) A&M17) TCU18) Ole Miss19) Wisconsin20) Washington
  11. They’ll both get a ton of first team reps. Shrugs
  12. Fwiw, there were major programs sniffing around but he didn’t give them the time of day
  13. Simpson struggled. The WRs struggled too.
  14. Apparently Buchner was the best QB today at their scrimmage The defense looks good, the offense is a work in progress
  15. I'm not sure which thread we're supposed to talk Bama in, but it appears that while Bama might have been hoping that Simpson would take the job, he's struggled and hasn't done enough to win the job. They apparently gave true freshman Dylan Longergan (over Eli Holstein, surprisingly) some reps with the first team this week to see if he'd catch on, but it appears that it's trending towards Milroe winning the job, at least early in the season There's a decent chance we see a running game featuring a running QB to give them a +1 running constraint, with an RPO passing game tacked on to make it simple and hopefully give Milroe easy throws. Against our two deep quarters defense, it's unlikely they'd break many explosive plays, but with the +1 in the run game, they'd probably be able to get positive yardage and move the ball some, but what happens when they eventually run into negative plays or incompletes? How many long drives can they sustain? How many times can Milroe run it? This scenario is where Catalon is important. He's elite at triggering from depth in the run game. While Milroe is a good runner, I don't think he's a special one, and he was turnover prone last year I think this approach makes sense if Simpson and the freshmen aren't ready yet. Run Milroe and Buckner a lot early in the season to give your offense some floor until one of the others is ready to take over to give your offense some ceiling
  16. Give the bowl game a watch. Ewers is much better there.
  17. I wish I had more faith that Crystalball could get the job done. He's probably the only coach in the country who's a more pussy game manager than Jimbo
  18. I think he's pretty annoying on there, but yes he's a useful idiot for inverse betting
  19. Every national podcast I've listened to has had Texas winning the conference
  20. The best results will be from putting you two on ignore
