That tracks pretty well with what I'm hearing here locally - that chunks of the principal's statement is not true and/or stretching the truth.
It does appear that he and Ms Becnel - one of the senior administrators at the school, lectured Rachel for about an hour with bible scriptures and even printed them out to give to her.
Surprisingly, there don't appear to be very many people defending the principal. The general consensus is that this was a terrible and sustained lapse in judgement and given that he's been in the business for 30 years, can't be the only time he's done something like this. People are waiting for the inevitable disclosures to come out regarding previous students and similar behavior. It seems what is dividing most people is whether or not he deserves to lose access to his entire pension after he is fired or resigns, or if just the firing/resignation is penalty enough. Everyone is aware that the Parish school system is going to get sued and they are going to lose - with the question being just how much money is this going to cost the taxpayers.
