  1. Omax is a new school Andre Kirilenko. All the defensive versatility and athleticism of AK-47 but with the more than adequate corner 3 potential of today's wing players
  2. Honestly, last night was the best example of draft maneuvering Ive ever seen as a Mavs fan. We literally manufactured nearly $30 million of cap space and 2 needed 1st round defensive prospects out of Bertaans and the #10 pick. Richaun Holmes will take up most of the $17 million trade exception slot and leave us still with our MLE. Im not sure how the remaining $5million works on the trade exception, but we might have that available as well.
  3. I thought we moved the trade exception for Holmes. I believe we still have the MLE.
  4. Man i forgot about that Iraqi Dinar scam. Pretty much every person I know in the oilfield born before 1960 got ensnared in that shit. There's something about conservatives and their penchant for paranoia that makes them perfect marks for scammers. Even as a kid back in the late 80s & early 90s I picked up on the fact that the radio ads that came on during Rush Limbaugh's time slot were much more likely to have a scammish quality to it. And the same goes for ads on Foxnews or any conservative show on xm radio. The scammers know where their bread is buttered. Now that I think about it, the current state of the conservative movement was highly predictable given just this little bit of insight.
  5. Anamewke along with the Jakobe Walter surprised everyone with their run to the state championship game their senior year. They spoiled what was probably the most highly anticipated state championship match-up in the last 25 years between Richardson and Duncanville. And it's supremely ridiculous to suggest we should've taken Weaver over Morris. Morris' situation was just unfortunate. Had he arrived in Austin with a less experienced roster in place and gotten more playing time and more diverse role he would've been much happier with his time here and would still be on the roster.
  6. This is one area where the burnt orange media behemoth failed us mightily. Everything about our time in the BIg 12 and the original sin of unequal revenue sharing gets told as if we were the sole beneficiary and other schools that had the same favorite son status such as A&M and Nebraska played no part in things being the way they were.
  7. Im betting they go to 9 in 2025. Most teams got some semblance of their 3 permanent rivals on the 2024 schedule.
  8. Her brother was a UT QB for a couple of years as well.
  9. They were actually really good and funny doing sportscenter together. They typically worked the 1am/ west coast sportscenter together and were really funny and had great chemistry. Had they been a team during ESPN's peak in the 90s they would've had a shit load more fanfare.
  10. According to the article below ESPN tried to Kenny Mayne him and keep him at a lower salary, but he said sayonara. https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/stan-verrett-says-goodbye-to-long-time-sportscenter-co-anchor-neil-everett-we-are-brothers-for-life.html ESPN was dealt another blow with Thursday’s news that longtime SportsCenter anchor Neil Everett is leaving the network, departing after 23 glorious years. ESPN tried to retain him at a lower salary, which Everett rejected (you might remember Kenny Mayne left Bristol under similar circumstances in 2021), opting for a fresh start elsewhere. Like Chris Chelios, who suffered the same fate when his contract wasn’t renewed earlier this week, Everett finds himself a casualty of ESPN’s ongoing budget cuts with Disney looking to shed a mammoth $5.5 billion in costs company-wide. Everett already has a couple irons in the fire—he hopes to expand his studio role with the Portland Trail Blazers next season and is also said to be working on several “side projects.” Still, even with Everett making fewer appearances in recent years, it’s sad he’ll no longer share a desk with Stan Verrett, his co-host of 14 years on the 1 AM ET edition of SportsCenter broadcast from ESPN’s Los Angeles studios.
  11. LOL at claiming the only reason something that has never happened wouldn't happen is due to a totally sensible reason for it not happening.
  12. Duncan is a center in every recognizable understanding of the position. From the position he maintained while on the court to the role he played for the team. Just because Duncan didn't want to be called a center doesn't remove that fact that is the position he provided for his team.
  13. Bomani Jones has made the argument that in 2005, 2006, & 2007. Dirk was arguably the best player in the NBA and is criminally underrated as a result. His Win shares/48 during this period reflects this claim. KG's inability to get Minnesota out of the first round sans a single time in 2004 tells me that there's no debate between Dirk and KG. KG played with Terrell Brandon, Tom Gugliotta, Malik Sealy, Sam Cassell, Stephon Marbury, Latrell Sprewell, Chauncey Billups, Isaiah Rider, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith, and a number of quality NBA players yet did absolutely nothing with his teams when he was the lead dog. Go look at the rosters Dirk carried to the Finals in his 2 appearances there. From 2007 until Luka arrive Dirk only played with 2 other allstars, Josh Howard & Jason Kidd. Mark Cuban deserves a roster malpractice suit brought against him for how inept he's been at building rosters around star players. In their sole playoff series against each other Dirk wiped the floor with Garnett averaging 33 and 16 rebs against him in route to a 3-0 sweep.
  14. I said home and homes but I mean allow the teams to see the other 7 they missed the first year.
  15. I doubt it will be a 1 year bridge schedule. They're going to do 2 years to allow for home and homes with the other 7 teams. At the earliest, I bet the 3-6, 9 game schedule begins in '26.
  16. Narrator: Mitchell was not in fact talking shit about his school. Some Longhornfans feel an incessant need to manufacture negativity about players despite no evidence other than one classmate congratulating another classmate on a new destination. Somehow the kid who was the consummate teammate despite filling a role (without complaint mind you) he no doubt viewed below his talent level is suddenly talking trash about his team. Absolute fucking nonsense.
  17. Ted Emerich really knows how to let the game come to him.
  18. https://texassports.com/news/2018/1/3/mens-basketball-nba-star-kevin-durant-donates-3-million-to-the-university-of-texas.aspx Kevin Durant 01.04.2018 | Men's Basketball NBA star Kevin Durant donates $3 million to The University of Texas 2017 NBA Finals MVP makes the largest donation ever by a former Texas Basketball student-athlete. AUSTIN, Texas – Former University of Texas star and 2007 consensus National Player of the Year Kevin Durant is donating $3 million to UT to support Texas Basketball and the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation. Durant's donation is the largest outright gift by a former Texas Basketball student-athlete in school history and among the largest gifts ever by any professional athlete to his alma mater. In honor of the contribution, of which $2.5 million will go to Texas Basketball, the main entrance to Denton A. Cooley Pavilion will be named The Kevin Durant Texas Basketball Center. In addition, the men's basketball facilities will be named The Kevin Durant Basketball Facility for Men. "My time as a Longhorn helped build the foundation for who I am today as a player and a person, and the UT team will always be my family," said Durant. "It's important to me to continue to give back to The University and ensure that future student-athletes have all the opportunities they need to succeed. It's an honor to have such a close and unique relationship with Texas Basketball, and I'm grateful to be able to contribute." Durant's gift has already funded substantial facility improvements in Cooley Pavilion, highlighted by the renovation of the men's and women's basketball locker rooms, resurfacing of both the men's and women's basketball practice courts, installation of graphics in the men's practice areas, audio improvements and the creation of formal office space in Cooley Pavilion.
  19. Man, I love this style of basketball. Constant movement, both ball and man, is a thing of beauty.
  20. That may be the case but actively rooting for him not to be drafted and continually shitting on the kids seems par for the course with some Longhorn "fans" when it comes to former football and basketball players.
  21. Any Texas hoops fan who roots against Mitchell getting drafted as high as possible is dumb. There's no better advertisement for our program than players getting drafted as highly as possible and performing well in the league.
  22. I don't understand the repeated comparisons to Carr. Like everyone has been saying, Carr was more efficient at Minnesota and had a higher ast/tov ratio. And most importantly, like @longhornmatt stated, Carr played alongside rubbish in Minnesota while Love played alongside comparable, if not, better talent than what he'll play with here. Love is a no go as far as I'm concerned. Efficiency and smart shot selection was easily the best offensive attribute about last year's team. We're already losing our experience in this area, why bring in a guy who is an absolute 0 in the area we'll be most deficient in relative to last year?
  23. I wholeheartedly agree. Not a fan of his at all.
  24. Yep I'll never understand it. Cuban operates the Mavs as if we reside in LA or NYC. Dirk basically masked how atrocious the Mavs' roster was for much of his entire career, and Luka has done the same since he got to Dallas. If we ever took the draft seriously as opposed to drafting south Asian novelty acts we would've played for multiple championships during Dirk's tenure. Acquiring actual, worthwhile assets through the draft is the best way to acquire the elite talent Cuban craves, but he's too shortsighted to ever maintain that approach.
