  1. Surprisingly, Gerry says he's a much better shooter than what he showed us this year. If he comes back and can take a massive jump offensively that would be huge.
  2. Pretty sure he got to the sweet 16 a few years ago and of course he did it again this year.
  3. Are you referring to this?
  4. This stat is amazing if true.
  5. Izzo must've lost the tape.
  6. Forget a Texas big. I don't remember any Texas player, big, wing, or guard, hit that shot as consistently as him.
  7. Reading through this game thread makes me glad I stopped posting in most bball game threads, especially during the tournament. We have an inordinate amount of bitchass, chicken little posters around here who are ready to throw in the towel at the first sign of adversity, seemingly more than most fan bases. We also apparently have a bunch of dummies who believe that basketball teams have an unlimited stash of timeouts. Like Borzello referenced above Terry and the coaching staff showed their wares down the stretch. That open floor pick n roll gave Dylan and Marcus Carr a lot of room to.make magic happen down the stretch and it's literally something we pulled out of our asses cuz I haven't seen us run a pick n roll like that on the weak side all year. It totally surprised Penn St and caught them off guard.
  8. Dylan Disu may have the best and most consist touch around the basket of any Texas big man over the last 20 years, certainly since Brad Buckman. I know some of yall may say LaMarcus Aldridge, but he was more of 15' shooter during his time on the 40. He was a bean pole back then and didn't really look to get within 8' of the basket.
  9. Can't argue too much with that, we haven't been to the sweet 16 in 15 years.
  10. Not only that, but we seem to have a good eye for finding free agents and draft picks who fit and at times excel in DQ's defense.
  11. A lot coaches gave up their suit game in the wake of covid. There are only a few coaches remaining who still wear suits for every game.
  12. He shot 41% from 3 this year and had the most 3pt makes in the Pac 12. For comparison none of our guards shot above 36% from 3 this year.
  13. The committee attempted to do the same thing in Shaka's first season back in 2016, but we fucked it up by losing to Northern Iowa on a halfcourt shot.
  14. Was just about to post the same thing, but of course since I'm streaming my feed is about 2 weeks behind everyone else.
  15. Wasn't the 2011 team rated somewhere around 7 in kenpom yet got a 4 seed in one of the alltime seeding atrocities in NCAA tournament history?
  16. Rumor had it that we destroyed UofH in preseason scrimmages. The only team I wouldn't want to face is Purdue and maybe Bama. I wouldn't mind Houston.
  17. I think it's a relic of the past. This current view of analyzing college sports in a parochial manner where we compare overall conference strengths is relatively new and truly stems from SECization of college sports. Back in the day when college basketball was more prominent the NCAA looked to reward schools that sought a lot of good intersectional matchups and gave the networks great TV inventory. Now that college sports have devolved down into dick measuring contests between conferences we don't value these noncon matchups as much.
  18. Not necessarily the worst 15 seed, but for sure we will be in the overall bracket of the worst #1 seed if we are the best #2 seed. I don't think they worry too much about matching the worst 15 seed with the best 2 seed. Their major concern is location of games and not matching up conferences mates too early within the same bracket..
  19. Or better yet, play in a preseason holiday tournament. Typically you get 1 or 2 teams in the 75 to 100 range and then a team in the top 40 range and then if you make the finals you typically get a team in the top 15 to top 10 range. Add in 3 or 4more top 75 teams and then even it out with some 150s to 175s and 1 or 2 200s and 300s and voila your noncon will be guaranteed to be in the top 25 easily.
  20. This was my lone critique of Beard while he was here. He played garbage nonconference schedules and had a history of doing so prior to coming here. He literally made up a tournament out of whole cloth (Leon Black) where we didnt play any team rated higher than the mid 200s. When I made this argument before posters made the seemingly reasonable point of there being no difference between teams ranked in the 150s and those in the 250s. My answer to that is if that's the case then why damage your resume for tourney seeding placements by playing teams that wholly destroy said resume. If there's no difference then between them then replace those 250s and 300s with 100s and 150s and get a more favorable seeding as a result.
  21. That was Lovies fuck you to Houston on his way out. Bears fans want to build him a statue because of it.
  22. It's absolute lunacy that in a state as big and as rich as Texas you cant watch the UIL State Championship basketball game live on any cable or broadcast channel. The UIL has their collective heads up their ass.
  23. I dont agree with changing things up going into the tourney. Start Timmy, but reduce the overall time we play with 2 guard lineups.
  24. Not only that, but keep the staff from joining Beard in Mississippi. I really like this staff and with him as coach he can replace his spot as an assistant with another high level recruiter or another top flight X's & O's guy (Mark Adams anyone). I'm still in the camp of wanting to see an elite 8 or final 4 appearance to keep him, but I understand if he gets kept with a sweet 16 appearance seeing as how we haven't done that in nearly 15 years.
  25. You're kinda stretching things if you're including Stanford in that list of legit opponents. By that standard KU nearly doubled us in their number of legit noncon opponents all while playing in the same conference as us.
