  1. Not only that, but going back to his Green Bay days McCarthy led teams have consistently overcome injuries. They year he won the Super Bowl in Green they led the league in games lost to injury. He may not have a presence that commands respect from the media and fans, but he's proven to be an effective coach.
  2. Ref anticipated the travel before it even had a chance of happening.
  3. Considering the punishment Oklahoma St suffered last season I'd say, yeah I was expecting more.
  4. Years ago I was highly annoyed with your lack of hate when I'd post on Phog, net back in the day when it was still a fully functioning message board 20+ years ago. My 20something year old self couldn't understand why this SL guy was acting so friendly with them while I tried to get my hate on. Fortunately, I've grown up a bit since then so I don't hold it against you anymore.
  5. I wonder how this commitment will affect the freshman Ryan Argarwal who is out of Coppell. He was a top 100 recruit at one point in time, I think he finished in the 130s in last year's class. They are essentially the same player in terms of style, albeit Andrej is more talented and has a much higher profile than Argarwal.
  6. I know you've referenced it in the past, but whatever happened with J'Covan to destroy team chemistry on the 2010-2011 team is my biggest what if. I mention the mid season run that team went on at least once every season, but there's never been a run of Longhorn basketball more impressive than what Barnes did with that team during the run below. Over the course of 18 games we won 17, 15 of them by double digits. We started off conference play 11-0 including an 11 point win over KU at Phog Allen in a game where we went on a 30 something to single digit run on KU where we absolutely took their hearts from them. On February 16th, of 2011 I was certain that this team was not only a Final 4 team, but a favorite to in the National Championship. And by the way that sole, 1 point, overtime loss to Connecticut during the run below was to the eventual national champions that season.
  7. Jamison has played fairly well this year.
  8. Yep Huard in particular said their eyes and positioning when finding WRs in their area was extremely poor in zone. He mentioned that Kwiatkowski told him this.
  9. Well I'll be damned. I guess I assumed playing 10 yards off of WRs was zone coverage. Fuck me, I guess they were playing man from 10 yards away.
  10. Oh, I agree. There's no doubt that they recruit like no one else in my 30+ years of paying attention to Texas high school basketball. However Anthony Black's mother is married to Peavy so using him as the reason to finally punish Duncanville for their recruiting seems weird. I mean Anfernee Hardaway's kid goes to Duncanville, yet the kid who's mother is married to the coach is the one you use as proof of recruiting.
  11. Where are you pulling these stats from? My recollection from the Okla St game is that most of those slants and glance over the middle routes that Sanders got against us were against zone coverages where our LBs didnt get enough depth (surprise). That quarters coverage we run is still a zone and we dont match up particular well at all as someone up above alluded to.
  12. This is off topic, but I don't remember a school ever being banned from the playoffs before. I'm not even sure the late 80s Carter football teams got banned from the playoffs. And this ruling seems especially egregious when you consider that the player who's residency was in question was playing for his stepfather. Like how on earth are you not allowed to claim residency in the same house that your mother lives in? I'm sure there's more to the story but considering all the football teams in this state that clearly "recruit", Duncanville getting this severe a punishment seems fucking ridiculous.
  13. And we allow a quick passing game because of the soft coverage we play. More man coverage reduces the opportunity for opposing WRs to get open early, thus giving our pass rush (which gets a lot of pressures) more opportunities to turn those pressures into sacks.
  14. Go look at the stats. We put much more pressure on QBs than Georgia. Yesterday was the first game Georgia really harassed a QB all season. A lot of those scrambles were against zone coverage.
  15. Yeah it's impossible to play man against a running qB and spy him at the same time. It's literally never been done before. Give me a break. I'm obviously not calling for man 100% of the time, but mixing it in more that 10% would be worthwhile, especially against QBs who struggle with accuracy. And I mentioned 3 different QBs in my initial post. I know he's black but Donovan Smith is not a running QB, at least not in the elusive sense. And Sanders couldn't get the ball more than 20 yards down field against us with his detached shoulder yet we sat back in zone allowing inside releases snap after snap.
  16. We executed and Martinez made some horrible throws against man. That wheel route along the right sideline that fell at the receivers back heel comes to mind. He also missed on that slant against Jamison in the end zone.
  17. I remarked on that consideration in my very first sentence.
  18. I understand the worry against running threats like Martinez and Sanders, but damn can't we spy them and play man at least half the time? I doubt they reach even 20 points had we mixed in more man tonight. Martinez, Sanders, & Donovan Smith are all QBs who struggle with accuracy yet we sat back in soft coverage in all 3 games allowing them to get into rhythm by repeatedly throwing it to wide open receivers who were standing still. Brock Huard all but said that Kwiatkowski admitted that our guys don't know how to play zone. Addionally, Sark said ahead of the season that he'd like to see our guys play tighter coverage. With all this, why does Kwiatkowski keep running them out there in zone packages. Someone who knows more about football than me please explain to me why we're so stubborn about this shit. Is he so impressed with his scheme that he force feed something on to them that he admits they do poorly. Today I watched LSU and Georgia play a simple ass schemes and man up the guys on the outside against uber tier QBs, yet we're too scared to play tight man against QBs who struggle to hit moving targets. It just doesn't make sense.
  19. You added a bit more color on the national high school volleyball scene than simple rankings in that post.
  20. SLX is a full service college sports fan. I wouldn't even begin to know where to go to get volleyball recruiting.
  21. I mean they turned "woke", which just means aware of injustice, into a pejorative. It's a tried and true tactic of right wing propaganda. Turn any and everything good into a pejorative. Woke, social justice, shit back in the 60s they turned the term "civil rights" into a pejorative. I listened to this podcast the other day on reverse freedom rides and the way they turned the term on its head was something familiar and it struck me that they've been doing this forever.
  22. It's literally what happens in every final shot situation over the last 3 years. Ever since he hit it against the Clippers he can't help himself.
  23. This shit where every late game shot by Doncic devolves into a 30 foot stepback three is for the fucking birds man,
