  1. Another good thing about having the Gonzaga game at Moody this year is if I remember correctly the covid season Gonzaga game was supposed to take place during December at a time when students wouldn't even be on campus. Additionally if you remember the Villanova game that year took place in late December or early January that year as well. This year's Gonzaga game is smack dab at a time when students will be on campus and we can get the full benefit of a home court advantage. That's another not so incidental aspect of Beard that I love. He's a full service college basketball coach who takes into consideration the marketing aspects as well.
  2. I know the original Gonzaga game at home was canceled during the covid season. With Moody opening up this season it actually works out much better to have that game here this year. The Creighton and Tennessee games are just part of Big East and SEC conference challenges with the Big 12. The Illinois game is really the only high profile game that Beard had a true hand in. The biggest difference in terms of scheduling philosophies between Shaka and even Barnes compared to Beard is what they do with the rest of the schedule. Beard schedules an inordinate amount of games (in terms of what we're used to) against teams in the 220to 300+ range of NCAA D1 teams whereas Barnes and Shaka typically scheduled more of the middle tier teams in the 100 to 200 range ie your SFAs and UTAs.
  3. The Drake Maye kid out at North Carolina will be involved in the conversation as well.
  4. Sack & a forced fumble on deck.
  5. Bye bye Dalton!!
  6. Thank you. I was waiting for someone to point this out. Don't know who got washed out in the first one but it was definitely Lewis on the 2nd one. For some reason the dumbass cheated to the defensive right side for thinking Brown was going to the offensive left and of course they ran the exact same play to their right.
  7. TC was a lowly, random intern when Corby created that photo of him. He wasn't even on air at the time.
  8. TC gave some interesting color on the Mike- Corby relationship/Grigsby's article and what Julie was dealing with while working at the Ticket.
  9. You keep claiming shit that simply isnt true. When it comes to sports consumption DFW isn't in any way comparable to New York, Chicago, Philly, or Boston. The Ticket has a weekend show devoted to the EPL so they quantifiably discuss it more than CFB. Not to mention their postgame Ranges and Stars shows. This is a better answer and much more likely the reason CFB isn't discussed. But it's not because Dallas is a "pro sportstown" like cities in the Northeast.
  10. Calm down man. People actually care about the Mavericks. Albeit, not as much in early October.
  11. What does that fucking mean on Tuesday, October 11th 2022? Of course the Cowboys come first, second, third, and fourth, but what does being a professional sport town even mean? Do you really believe that people care more about the Rangers or Stars than college football right now? TV ratings say the opposite.
  12. Yeah I agree, Ever since The Ticket started I never understood why they steadfastly believed that college football had to take a backseat to every single professional sport in the city. I can guarantee you that way more people are interested in college football than the fucking Rangers and Stars. And given that it takes place in the fall more people are interested in college football during that time of year than even the Mavericks, yet for some reason these guys all believe that college football is way down the list below the EPL and golf.
  13. If Bijan doesn't get drafted in the 1st round it's solely due to the depreciating value of RBs in the NFL.
  14. This is obviously true. Just count all the lower round draft picks and undrafted free agent rookies we've placed in the league over the last decade who went on to play way above their draft day grades.
  15. I agree somewhat, but I'd love to see Worthy with a Neyor playing on the opposite side of him (perhaps Hall). Worthy was a bit of an unknown to our opponents last year until the TX/OU game. This year he's the main concern for defenses, possibly even over Bijan so he's bracketed all game. Sanders and Whittington have eaten this year as a result. Sanders and Whittington (Billingsley) will be Sark's main solution to Iowa St's defense next week. Sark has had issues with that style of defense going all the way back to his time at Bama.
  16. The Tech performance was a coaching/game management loss. That's the feel for the game part of coaching that is Sark's biggest failing as a coach. Joey McGuire absolutely grinded a win out of thin air in that game. No way we should've been playing as soft in the 2ndary for as long as we did that game, especially when going against a trash ass QB. In terms of being a HC for high stakes games Sark is still relatively inexperienced. Im just hopeful we as a fanbase dont get too impatient and keep him around long enough to improve on those flaws. He's a good enough recruiter, play caller, and apparently developer of talent to keep us on the cusp until he improves in this area. And I believe he's introspective enough to improve in the areas where he lacks.
  17. Continuity is big as well. Our defensive seniors have had multiple coordinators and position coaches over their 4 and 5 years. A big part of our issues over the last decade plus is how frequently we have new position coaches and coordinators teaching players new techniques and schemes.
  18. And I forgot about Keilan Robinson. After last season I assumed he would forever be relegated to the DJ Monroe/Daja Johnson role of never getting the ball outside of anything but a motion speed sweep or running play, but this season he's suddenly catching down field passes
  19. Name a player who isn't way better than he was last year. Christian Jones Hudson Card Ja'Tavion Sanders Keondre Coburn Moro Ojomo Vernon Broghton T'Vondre Sweat Barryn Sorrell Jaylan Ford D'Shawn Jamison even Ovie Oghoufo Obviously this game went exactly the way we've been dreaming it would go for the last 22 years, but I'm not just talking about this game. There has been some dramatic player improvement from last year til now and I'm here for it.
  20. Hello, my name is Texzilla58 and I believe every word that comes out of the Ravens front office.
  21. What happened to whootex?
  22. I feel the exact same way. Herman is a pretty good coach, but he isn't good enough nor does he possess the gravitas to be as much of a dick as he is. His recruiting will always be limited by this fact and his lack of authenticity, so I doubt he'll ever reach elite status. Sark on the other hand possesses a lot of the ingredients to become a great head coach, but damn he has a poor feel for in game management. Plus it looks like he suffers from that same ailment that a lot of coordinators suffer from in his inability to fill out a high level staff on the other side of his area of expertise.
