  1. We'll see. Historically, 10-8 in our league typically gets you about a 6 to 10 seed, however in 2016 both Iowa St and Baylor got top 5 seeds with a 10-8 record. Of course their SOS was within the top 15 so it helped them much more than ours would this season.
  2. I don't know that 10-8 with our nonconference schedule will get us a 4 seed, but who knows.
  3. When did UIL go to the 4 teams per district playoff model? My senior year of high school (1995) was the last year of the 2 teams per district model, but they only upped it to 3 teams the following year.
  4. I've seen 1958 a couple times, but can't find the team.
  5. The way every single one of their heads drop in almost a domino fashion absolutely kills me.
  6. I really don't understand how the fact that he's getting paid even matters in the age of NIL. Was he not going to be paid at Florida St? Or Georgia? Or any of the other schools who were chasing after him? You need to retrofit your excuse to something that's more applicable for 2021. This isn't 1990 or even 2019. He's getting paid means jackshit nowadays.
  7. Yeah it's analogous to some kids choosing a smaller private school like Austin college or Trinity University over UT or A&M. They seek the smaller, more nurturing environment. There's a lot of distractions at a big program like UT (which has probably been a factor with our struggles over the last decade). Even during the 90s and early 2000s the university of Miami's facilities were hot garbage compared to other schools, still despite this fact, the gritty, totally lacking environment appealed to a lot of talented players. Something about Jackson St obviously appeals to this kid and the idea that it's a career stunting decision is laughable. With that rationale some might argue that prior to the last 2 or 3 years, being a bluechip Olinemen and choosing to go to UT was a career stunting decision.
  8. Yep, the % of black doctors, lawyers, PhDs, and an assortment of other professions who attended HBCUs for undergrad far outpaces that of Blacks who attended predominantly white institutions for undergrad.
  9. I guess we should've spent the past 15 years conceding every recruit to the SEC with this logic.
  10. Depends on how far you wanna go back. Prior to integration, when it came to football in the south, HBCUs are where the elite talent would reside.
  11. According to kenpom they rebounded 36.8% of their missed shots which is a season % that would place them as the 17th best offensive rebounding squad in the nation. Obviously a healthy Disu would've been a big help here, but the main problem with yesterday's loss is that it's one of only 3 good opportunities to build our resume in the nonconference. I'm confident that we'll improve immensely as the season progresses, but having not watched a lot of these guys play prior to this season I'm a bit surprised at how unathletic we are. I'm really curious as to what made Carr the #1 transfer in the portal. He's essentially a poorer shooting Ramey with a bit cleaner handle and more of a willingness to try to score in the lane.
  12. Our shitty nonconference schedule is going to be a giant monkey on our back working against us getting a 3-5 seed. If we don't finish with somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 to 14 conference wins I doubt we get a 5 seed or higher. Our schedule is really garbage this year.
  13. Mitchell got some low post moves for yo ass!!
  14. Fox entities suck at broadcasting college sports. They haven't even advanced to giving us a shot clock for chrissakes.
  15. Let's be honest, when it comes to roster building the entire Mark Cuban ownership run has consisted of trading away any and all serious efforts towards the draft, for shooting moon shots at top of the class free agents, trading for veterans, and signing mid tier free agents. While it's ok to utilize this strategy as PART of your roster building process Cuban seems to think it's the only tool in the tool belt. We never have worthwhile assets because worthwhile assets are usually young and acquired through the draft. I used to blame Donny for our futile draft efforts, but after reading the reporting on our front office and listening to the Haralabob podcast with Pablo Torre it's become more than clear that Cuban is the true culprit behind all our problems. Until he takes the draft (and in turn ceeding more power and input to the scouting process) seriously we will always struggle with this issue. Cuban is just lucky he's had 2 generational talents to cloak his inept roster building.
  16. The bigger misstep that offseason was trading away Seth. That was fucking stupid.
  17. Anybody else feel like Kirby is mimicking Saban's evolution and is currently in the Bama-Saban 1.0 phase of his head coaching career. He doesn't care enough about the offensive side of the ball and it will take a few more unanticipated losses before he finally gets serious about employing a modern offense or actual talent at the QB position. Bob Stoops seems to be the only defensive minded head coach over the last 25 years that I can think of who upon getting his 1st HC job was serious about fielding an explosive offense. He didn't lean towards the conservative inclinations most defensive minded head coaches have when they first get a job. And not only that he had a real keen sense of not only knowing when to change out OCs but picking new OCs when his offenses started to sputter. He went from Leach to Mangino to Long to Wilson to Heupel to Riley. Long and Heupel were the only ones who weren't super elite OCs under him and Heupel may prove to be a decent head coach despite that fact.
  18. Does Kirby think he gets an extra bonus if he wins a national championship with his arm tied behind his back? He reflexively chooses to start the lesser talent at QB every time he's faced with a decision.
  19. For the first time that I can ever remember The Ticket had a full on podcast for college football. Of course it's all due to Corby losing his coach.
  20. I dont understand this view that Brian Kelly is a bad hire. LSU won 2 national championships with a barely literate ogre and a guy whose idea of good offense was running dive tosses 30 times a game despite fielding a WRing core of Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, & Reuben Randle. They literally fall ass backwards into national championships with imbeciles leading the way. LSU is the only power 5 school in a state with more talent per capita than any state in the union. Kelly not only sends quality Olineman to the league more consistently than any coach in college even though that position group is the most difficult to evaluate, he wins everywhere he's been and has been to 2 playoffs and a national championship without ever having a difference making QB. I was really hoping LSU would fuck up this hire but they actually hired a high quality head coach. And beyond that, let me let my melanin deficient brothas in on a little secret about how LSU is viewed regionally within the African-American community. It carries a panache similar to how Miami was viewed back in the 80s. It's the only PWI that sort of has an HBCU vibe and atmosphere at their football games which is attractive and familiar to young black men. And dont even get me started with how wide eyed and tongue wagging these young men get when they visit southern Louisiana and come across the sea of creole women they'll suddenly be introduced to south of I-10. There's a reason why LSU can win national titles despite being led by sheer incompetence since Saban left. Brian Kelly showing up there is clearly not a good thing for us.
  21. **Wakeland kid****
  22. Yeah I was impressed by that Wakeland as well.
