  1. The aforementioned Ramey shot 39% from 3 as a freshman.
  2. Half the roster was injured for his entire tenure with the team. The one season where they were halfway healthy he took the team to the Western Conference semis and that was AFTER Cousins tore his achilles. I actually thought Gentry got a raw deal, especially since he and David Griffin (their GM) go way back to their Phoenix Suns days. Zion basically didn't play the one year Gentry had him and Griffin fired him before he ever got a shot and then doubled it up and hired a coach who isn't exactly known for running a cohesive offense or getting the most out of young players. That being said, why are we taking an IG post from Bleacher Report seriously?
  3. Didn't Bird and Wilkins have one back in the 80s?
  4. 2nd best winning percentage over a 20 year time frame ought to correspond with more championships than the Toronto Raptors have.
  5. We shot nearly 36% from 3 last year with less than ideal shot selection. Which was good enough for 80th in the nation and 3rd in the conference. That's pretty good in my eyes. There's a greater than 0 chance that we'll improve in the upcoming year with much better shot selection and more focus on interior and midrange play.
  6. During my years (late 90s to early 00s) there were a good number of mixers between black, white, Hispanics, and Asians Greeks (both East and South Asians) for some reason. It's almost as though as that world opened up compared to what it had been before.
  7. You've gotta remember most of the black sororities and fraternities predate organizations like the NAACP. So while these organizations served many of the same functions for students as white fraternal organizations they took on the additional roles of being organizing hubs for early Civil rights era activities. And then again by their very nature of being organizations encompassing the black bourgeoisie they took on other roles beyond just being a place for kids to join while they were in school so they tend to still have roles beyond college life (although many may argue their importance has diminished substantially).
  8. There have been a number of black football and basketball players at UT pledge fraternities. Earl Thomas Jeremy Hills Marquise Goodwin Eric Davis (bball) and a bunch of others whose names escape me. I remember a couple of our recent middle linebackers were Omegas. There was a white AKA during the 90s at UT and there have been a number of non-black Deltas and Zetas. Shoot, prior to the creation of a number of South Asian Greek organizations you'd have a decent number of south Asians joining black fraternities and sororities. And there have been a shitload of white guys and other non-black ethnic groups who have pledged black fraternities at UT over the past 2 decades as well.
  9. The original Hayward signing was a great signing. It's not Ainge's fault he broken his leg in half his first game with the team. Hopefully Cuban's penchant got wheeling and dealing will rub off on Ainge's hoarding assets tendancies. Regardless Ainge's recent comments about athletes probably makes him a no anyways.
  10. If anything this proves that Donnie was the main source for the Athletic article. Which was obvious given how all of the successes in the article were attributed to him while all of the problems were attributed to Harrallabos (sp?).
  11. No Coleman.
  12. The clown show has arrived.
  13. Anthony Black has come a long way in the last year. His size makes him a better prospect than Cason Wallace in my eyes. If we can figure out some way get George, Morris, and Black in the upcoming class I'd be over the moon.
  14. Funny thing is in new York he got fed the ball often in the post and played well from there. I didn't watch a lot of Knicks games but did watch enough to get that impression. The Kevin O'Connor video someone posted in the thread details KP's effectiveness in the post at various points throughout his career. Maybe this year's poor play was simply a function of injuries restricting his play, but the numbers this season (both offensively and defensively) are drastically different from even last year.
  15. Between Dirk being drafted in the 1998 draft and Luka being drafted in the 2018 draft how many usable NBA players has Donnie drafted in those 20 drafts? Rodrigue Beaubois (I may be stretching things to include him in the category of usable since he didn't play for a team outside of Dallas and his success in Dallas was more a function of our inept roster, but I want to go out of may way to increase this 20 year list) Devin Harris Josh Howard Marquis Daniels Jay Crowder Jalen Brunson I may be missing a couple players here or there (forget if Brandon Bass was a Donnie pick or if he came to the Mavericks via trade), but regardless that's a fucking paltry list for 20 years of draft picks. Donnie is a trash GM full stop.
  16. Since 2007 the Mavs have had 3 Allstars. Jason Kidd in 2010 and Dirk and Luka. The roster during Dirk's prime years was empirically substandard.
  17. At the risk of getting into a back and forth with you I'll just say this. Dirk's impact on the game is much more demonstrable than guys like Moses and Karl Malone. A good part of your list are just names you threw into a bucket of guys who were good when you and I were kids. Regardless whether it's top 15, 20, or 25 the thrust of my point is that Donnie got lucky. Maybe not so much with Dirk, because he (along with his Dad) were among the 1st NBA front office execs to begin scattering their shots across the globe rather than relying solely on domestic talent. But getting 2 elite level guys in the span of 20 years and then putting absolutely nothing around them worth a shit doesn't mean he's a good GM. And on top of that he's an epic drunk. I can't count the number of times I've seen him dragged out of the bowels of the AAC to his car service. It's laughable that he's been allowed to lead a front office for this long.
  18. I beg to differ, And I specifically restricted my comparison of the last 20 years of rosters to the western conference for an obvious reason.
  19. They paid 0 attention to the draft during Dirk's career and as a result they never had any young players that could be turned into tradeable assets. Looking back on those years it's a credit to Dirk's phenomenal talent that we were as consistently good as we were during that time. I believe we were 2nd to only the Spurs (a team that took player and draft evaluation seriously) in winning % over a 10 or 15 year period.
  20. Some of the other players who were available for chump change during that time. PJ Tucker Derrick Rose Austin Rivers (who was sitting at home) Donnie is and has always been an absolute trash GM, full stop. It's never mentioned, but compare the 2 rosters Dirk took to the NBA finals to all other NBA Finals participants from the Western conference in the last 20 years and I guarantee you that both of them rank at the absolute bottom of the barrel in comparison. Dirk performed miracles to have as much success as we did during the prime of his career. And for that Donnie gets a permanent job. He can't draft for shit unless the talent is a top 10 all-time talent. We rarely have rookies who can even participate during the season much less be contributors in their first year. Every trade he makes is trash. Every free agent we covet ends up being an absolute disaster. Think of all the near misses as well. Nerlens Noel, Dwight Howard, Deron Williams, DeAndre Jordan, Patrick Beverly, Kemba Walker, etc. He doesn't draft well enough to allow us to develop tradeable assets. He doesn't evaluate the league's talent well well enough to give us useful supplements to the roster. He's just a trash GM in every conceivable way who lucked into getting 2 of the 15 best NBA players of the last 50 years.
  21. Nothing is preventing him from cutting to the basket from outside. Or doing something to make his presence felt. During the run that won the Clippers the game he was about as aggressive as an old lady filling out a check in the grocery line. He's a fucking bitch.
  22. People forget Cam Reddish is included in that trade. Of course with his injury the Hawks have forgotten him as well.
  23. These are just wasted possessions with Giannis running the offense. Claxton sat so far off him that he was essentially double teaming Lopez.
  24. Can't believe the Durant allowed his friendship with Deandre Jordan to have Claxton fixed to the bench for the 1st part of the year.
