    Hotdogs

I worked at a huge hog farm in south Texas when I was I high school. We likely had 5,000 hogs any given day. Every Friday, we would sell a big pen of market hogs (roughly 240 pounders) to a packer out of San Antonio. Next to the loading chute we had a pen for the “sick hogs.” When you have 5000 hogs, you are going to have about 20 every week that want to die of something—and sometimes some nasty shit where the hog is all pussed up or bleeding out of all orafices. Anyway, after the good hogs were loaded, the packer would buy the sick hogs for pennies on the dollar. The only stipulation: they had to be alive when we loaded them—like stick-a-mirror-under-their-nose alive. I learned to drive a Bobcat skid steer by loading nasty hogs in a bucket and depositing them in a trailer. I asked the driver one time what they did with those hogs. He said “grind’em into hotdogs.” No idea if that is true. But what is fact is that I ate a delicious All American dog from the Sonic in Post today coming back from the lake. Hot dogs are a gift from the gods. And a noble end to a pussed piglet.
  2. Read somewhere that he got busted trying to remove a wheel boot from his car after some type of parking violation.
  3. Spreewald area of Germany is similar. May be a bit more affordable. I am not sure. Haven't priced anything there. https://www.boboandchichi.com/2018/08/spreewald-germany/
  4. Super cool. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I was the same when banished to 16-year-old daughter's room. Now I feel like I need to hang up in my room her trippy LED lights and her Stevie Nicks poster.
  6. First time suiting up in the field house before first football practice, I asked the guy next to me where I could pick up my cup and where it fit in the pants. He looked at me and said, "Man, you don't wear a cup in football. You just pray constantly that you don't get hit in the balls." From that moment on:
  7. Yep, that is good stuff. Always keep a jar around for when time is short.
  8. Symptoms including sore throat were gone by yesterday (Day 6 after first feeling bad). Finished my Paxlovid regimen this morning. Just tested negative with at-home kit. I know the recomendation is to keep masking now for some days, but I can find no definitive answer on whether I am still contagious or not. Ready to get back into my own damn bed.
  9. Basically behind (sorta) Ellis Island is Tuscany Suites. The casino there is small but chill and feels much nicer than many spots in town. Also not a bad place to stay.
  10. My update. Maybe someone will find the info useful. Had first symptoms Monday morning. Tuesday morning was feeling flu-like. Tested positive. By Tuesday afternoon had full-blown symptoms: coughing, runny nose, fatigue, fever, aches, chills. Started Paxlovid that evening. Wednesday morning woke up to no fever, aches, chills. Have had no more fatigue. Cough is terrible and my throat hurts in a way it has never hurt before. Feels like I am trying to cough up a ball of barbed wire. Thursday morning (today) still no other symptoms at this point other than runny nose and awful cough and sore throat. Not sure if the Paxlovid diminished my symptoms or not as was unable to clone myself for a control. As it stands though, I feel I am doing better than friends who didn't get the Paxlovid and just rode it out. The only side effect I have experienced with Paxlovid is I have a strong metallic taste in my mouth about 2-4 hours after taking the pills. About to take my morning dosage now. Looking forward to feeling like I have a mouth full of pocket change.
  11. I have mailed mine before to get a visa, but I agree that it makes for some nervous days until it returns.
  12. Called my PCP about getting a prescription for Paxlovid. Never got a call back after leaving a message. Tried online doctor on demand, but was told they don't do Paxlovid. Called a local clinic; they said I had to come in. I replied "You want me to come into a clinic for a prescription when I know I have COVID and might infect other people?" Yes. So went in, got the prescription and started it last night. I already feel better. My aches and chills are gone for now. Just a sore throat and runny nose. But I also just woke up, so maybe it hits me hard again today. I felt pretty shitty all day yesterday.
  13. Is this event sponsored by the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Chiropracters' Association?
  14. Been abroad and got home last night feeling crappy. Thought it might have been jet lag and just sitting in planes, buses, trains. Nope first time COVID. Been vaxxed and boosted. Just called the nurse practitioner for my PCP. Will see if she has a plan or tells me to ride it out. Glad I’m home and not in London tho
  15. Moved on from Dublin to Galway and then Limerick. Flew out of Shannon to Heathrow and had flight cancelled so spent about 30 hours in London. 16 days of Manchester-Edinburgh, Dublin, Galway, Limerick, London. Now back home as of last night but liver is aching. Too old for this crap...until I do it again. Cue Steve Wariner.
  16. In Dublin now. Much cooler (temps) than Edinburgh. Sitting in Temple Bar. Maybe the most touristy place outside of Disneyland. I’d order a Mad Dog margarita if they had one.
  17. Literally sitting at The World’s End right now.
  18. In Manchester now; riding the train to Edinburgh in a few days. Have been a couple of times. Enjoy Edinburgh. Great city. Find the time to take at least one day trip to a small Scottish town and just go sit in the pub all day talking to locals. It will be the most memorable thing you do.
  19. So I am going to be about 40 miles from St. Andrews Thursday through Monday of next week. I have never been to St. Andrews. I won't be able to get a ticket, but is there any place near the Old Course where I could hang out and maybe catch a glimpse of some golf.

    London

Yep, exchange rate is great right now. Headed to Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, Galway, Limerick starting this weekend for two weeks. Have given my liver a rest for the last 14 days. It has no idea what it is about to deal with.
  21. If you want to hit up beer gardens, the Augustiner-Keller is a great one. I also like the beer garden next to Chinesischer Turm (Chinese Tower) in the park. But there are several other good ones. But you can also just hit up Marienplatz--the platz in the middle of town--and walk around the area. Hofbräuhaus München is near there, but I was not a huge fan of that place. Seems mega touristy--but still a cool stop. In Marienplatz is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel. Cool clock tower with the automatronic show of some local history. I can't remember what times it "pops" off, but it is listed somewhere.
  22. $20 to $30. There was always a bargain bin in places like KMart that had ratched games for like $5. They mostly sucked, but sometimes you find a gem in there.
  23. Blowing was for Nintendo cartridge. Atari games plugged and played every damn time. Those superior graphics make me think Atari.
