  1. Blondie's is a good spot and has early game drink specials and pretty decent breakfast food.
  2. $20 and a minimum of three face tattoos will get your ticket punched.
  3. How can anyone argue "conference champions" and "best teams" are one and the same? That is straight up malarky. It is entirely possible, if not likely, that one of the best teams in the country does not win a conference championship if in a conference with other top teams. The second fastest man on a relay team may be faster than the top man on another. Put another way: Player One wins tournament on Augusta. Player Two wins tournament on St. Andrews. Player Three wins tournament on Winged Foot. I win tournament at Port Aransas Putt-n-Booze. Do you send us four to Pebble Beach for the final showdown or do you consider that the guy that came in second on St. Andrews may be better than me? If the committee is to select the four best teams, then conference championships are but just one data point.
  4. Every time I get disgusted with myself for spending so much time on this website, I come across some hidden gem like this thread and I then realize that maybe I AM NOT SPENDING ENOUGH TIME ON THIS WEBSITE.
  5. After being affected by this BS on Sunday out of Vegas, just got an email that we will be receiving $100 vouchers. That will almost make up for (not even close) the money I lost parlaying Texas into several of my bets on Saturday.
  6. Yep. Had a flight out of Vegas at 9 a.m. on Sunday (yesterday morning). Got the text at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night that my flight was cancelled. Looked online and there were no flights available Sunday or Monday. Called customer service and waited on hold for 3 hours. Finally was able to book a 6 a.m. out of Vegas online--it would let me book, then cancel, then let me again. Anyway, showed up at airport at 4:30 a.m. to pandemonium. The Southwest counter line was at least 100 yards long. Skipped the line and went to my gate. Surprisingly, was allowed to fly out on a half empty plane. Felt like a big winner for just getting out of town. I was dreading being stuck there until Tuesday. I had already been in town since the previous Tuesday. I needed to get home. And that is the only luck I had in Vegas.
  7. Here in Vegas this morning. Can't read that sheet on small screen. Give me your top 8 sure-things, and I will wrap them up in a parlay. Thanks.
  8. Far west Texas thing for sure. I grew up eating saltines with enchiladas and few things enrage me more that fixin' a bit plate of cheese enchiladas and beans to only walk to the pantry and see that the kids ate all the crackers. I have been known to leave my plate sitting on the table and jump in the truck to hit up the nearest grocery store.
  9. Well, someone had to do it.
  10. Have a very rich older friend who wanted to go a few years ago but thought it would be more fun with more people. He sent a private plane to pick up me and my wife, then the plane flew to Colorado to fetch him and his wife, and off to Vegas we went. Bought us a huge two BR/ 2 Bath suite overlooking the fountains at Belagio. He stayed somewhere else with his wife. Bought tickets to shows every night and had lunch and dinner reservations at the best places in town for 7 days/6 nights. He paid for all of it. He only asked that we do a happy hour with him every day at 4 p.m. and that were dressed in coats/tie (for me) for every evening when the limo pulled up to pick us up. Was a wild and fun week. I go back several times a year--but it has never been the same since that trip.
  11. Hope my linking that didn't come off as me trying to "correct" you. I was genuinely curious after you raised the question. And honestly, that is a pretty subdued press conference for Saban considering... On another note, everyone needs to realize that Saban is a one-off. Hiring his assistants or following his process is not a sure path to Alabama 2.0. What he does is what he does. Tom Brady might eat only avocado toast for breakfast every morning, but force-feeding avocado toast to Dak will lead to him still being mediocre--but now with more fiber. And Brady could feast on Jade's chili nightly and I suspect he would still have been pretty damn good. Anyway, time will tell on Sark. I wouldn't write him off yet. But I wouldn't been clearing my calendar for the MNC parade next January just yet either.
  12. Kept waiting for "We ain't found shit."
  13. Me too. Within a hair of that dot.
  14. Likely, I would hate them all and think only a 7th could save us from collapse.
  15. I have that same pan and make paella a couple of times a year. Order in lots of bomba rice. The hardest part is developing a socarrat without burning it. All paella is good. Paella with an excellent socarrat is food of the Gods.
  16. I freakin' love college football. Such cool storylines.
  17. Is that a rarely-seen skullet on the kid in purple?
  18. In his current condition, no doubt.
  19. Here is a short and interesting podcast on the miscalculations regarding the withdrawal. Seems like a pretty even-handed discussion. Good listen while mowing the grass or sitting by the pool. It's only about 25 minutes. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/17/podcasts/the-daily/afghanistan-taliban-joe-biden-kabul.html?showTranscript=1
  20. Here comes the gravy.
  21. Chicken fried steak covered in gravy and CHEESE at the Mexican food joints in Zapata. Often served with an enchilada refried beans. So damn good after a day on Falcon.
  22. Don't you even trotline anchor, bro?
  23. More a function of those being the states where former Western Europeans immigrated.
