  1. Seems this is mostly a saltwater group, but I’ll join in from about as far from the salt as you can get in Texas. Tournament bass guy that builds and sells tackle and rods as well. Have cut way back on tackle sales because the ROI when factoring in time is a killer. Anyway, started a 7’6” MH casting build yesterday on an Immortal blank. Doing split grip so it slows things down a bit. Hope to turn the upper cork and glue up the reel seat today —unless I go to the lake instead. I’ll try to post some high plains bass pics from time to time. Here is a limit of dinks from my Saturday effort. 47 degree water and 20 mph north wind made for a fun day.
  2. It was pretty icy/snowy all the way to Abernathy. Then it was clear all the way to Amarillo. Here in south Lubbock, I had a solid covering of snow until about 2 p.m. Warm and windy today. Very odd weather. Very sad regarding the accident. Very common for people up here to out drive the conditions when it gets icy. I'll be driving along at 25 mph only to be passed by some jackass in a Explorer going 50 mph. Then I see that same jackass in the ditch 3 miles up the road--sometimes taking some other poor bastard with them. Makes me ragey.
  3. It is more difficult than you think. And any road this is not the freeway is very narrow--often you have to pullover if you meet a car going the other direction. Also the roundabouts suck. Get a GPS at the rental place. The UK GPS will tell you how to position your vehicle in the roundabout to make sure you head off in the right direction. I hit a curb in the middle of Wales on a dark, rainy evening. Met a car coming the other way and pulled over to far and knocked my tire off the rim. Changing that flat made me swear to take the bus the next time.
  4. I hate posters that call the towns of other teams shitholes. But Baton Rouge is a shithole. And the university is in a shitty part of that shithole town. The stadium is nice and the area where the tiger chills is kinda cool, but I wouldn't plan on living it up in Red Stick. Come in for the game, hit up some tailgates and then get out--ideally without a disease.
  5. Lots of crappy bands mentioned. But none are more crappy than Red Hot Chili Peppers. And it would take much to convince me that any selected song from any other band would have lyrics as bad as any RHCP song picked at random.
  6. Please let this be the end of the argument that conference champions should make the playoffs. There are a dozen teams that would put up a better fight than this. Not all conferences are equal.
  7. I shot a lot and have hearing trouble (brought on by shooting). I have tried several types. The best I have found is to go to a place that sells hearing aids and get fitted for a custom set made for shooting. Most will have that ability. I think I paid about $100 for mine but they fit great and don't bother me at all.
  8. It was either that or the bench.
  9. Georgia rotates back to Bama next year in the regular season. Will be interesting for both.
  10. Was there for days walking all over town and hitting up multiple bars. Never had a single issue.
  11. Tucan Limo Service picked me up from the airport (and grabbed my luggage)--was in Jaco in an hour. Cost me $99. https://www.tucanlimoservices.com/
  12. So the guy taking the picture is inverted? So
  13. Spent multiple nights in Jaco and Tamarindo. Both are fairly tame but have good bars. Both towns are walkable. I stayed in San Jose for a week last year for work and really had a great time. Stayed in a nice hotel down near Will Craft Beer and there were tons of cool places all within a few blocks of each other. If you end up in San Jose for a night, you can always uber to that area.
  14. "Hey, JimBob. Wade out there and get them decoys."
  15. Saw it last night. Whole family enjoyed it. Teenage kids talked about it for an hour afterward--where they guessed right/where the guessed wrong. For the money I spent, good time and the rare film that everyone liked. And yes, Ana is a cutie.
  16. looks excellent. and I dig the platter.
  17. Just slid my turkey in to the Big Easy oilers fryer basket. Should be done at 12:15 p.m.
  18. Yep, that is the size of mine. Cut out the backbone then split the bird in half at the keel. It is much easier to move around on the grill this way. You are probably maxed out at around a 15 pound bird. Lay some fresh rosemarry on the grill and then baste with a good sop. Watch for hot spots. It will come out great.
  19. However you say it. Wasn't going to google proper spelling.
  20. I agree with this. I sprotch one almost every year cooked over coals on a Webber kettle in addition to one I fry or cook in a Big Easy. If you sprotch it, then it is a bitch to flip/turn/move on the grill, and you will end up quartering it anyway. Split it and hit it.
  21. The original Julio's chips were bought out of his garage in white 5-gallon buckets. The restaurant came along much much later.
