  1. We had just a 22km hike today so we’ve been done since 2pm. Sitting in the albergue (hostel) now roasting my nuts. I know you’re coming with a group but you can hike these solo as well. I just showed up and fell in with some people quickly. Probably 10% of the hikers are American with the majority Europeans. Also getting to practice my Spanish, which sucks but is alright for an old white guy. I enjoy talking and getting to know the people along the way. Have had zero bad experiences so far and a couple of really cool ones. You can do these Caminos however you want; 10km a day, 40km a day, have your packs transported between stops, etc. i hope you do it and think it would be a great experience for y’all.
  2. I would say the vast majority aren’t religious but I haven’t asked. This is my second one. You meet people that have done several.
  3. Been doing the Camino Norte for a couple of weeks. Lots of mountains and beautiful beaches. More in the groove now than I was when I started. Festival of San Fermin was going on for a bit. Was kind of cool walking into cafes in the morning and a bunch of folks in there watching on the tv.
  4. I can post in the camping thread. If y’all are looking to do a Camino I think Portuguese from Porto would be good one to start. You do one of these and sometimes you want to do more.
  5. I’m doing it now on the Camino Norte. But the drivers and traffic are significantly better in Europe. This idea has a bit of Death Race 2000 to it.
  6. I saw this and not really sure what to think of it. How will they handle getting permission on all the private land? Also think going through the high traffic areas surrounding Houston and Austin could be really crazy. i am a hiker so I will be following this somewhat.
  7. Maybe he meant to quote it in rupees instead of dollars.
  8. Random pics from the Camino Norte.
  9. Not a good pic but a cool area of Luxembourg called the Grund.
  10. I did it in 2022 while hiking the PCT and it was still great. Was one of my favorite sections of the trail.
  11. I just left the San Marcos protest. I think it was easily 2,000 plus. Really solid for the area.
  12. Sack got them to exclude Montana because he likes to hike in Glacier NP.
  13. it’s a huge shit sandwich and we’re all going to have to take a bite.
  14. It's another part of Elon's long game. He's looking to give Don Jr's daughter some of that sweet in vitro action.
  15. Sage bushes are blooming strong around NB right now. https://www.texasstandard.org/stories/texas-sage-predict-rain-native-shrub-folklore-barometer-bush/
  16. SpaceX would probably do better if Musk was forced to part ways with the company and Shotwell was left alone to run it.
  17. I wonder if she has already been turkey basted by Elon.
  18. Was just going to post about Empire of the Summer of Moon covering a bit of this. Excellent book and must read for all Texans.
  19. Game recognize game.
  20. If you can't find anyone I think you should go for it anyway. There's a good chance you'd meet folks along the way you could hike with.
  21. https://www.yahoo.com/news/am-not-taking-drugs-musk-225133428.html In a post Saturday on X, Musk said: "To be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off." He added: "I tried 'prescription' ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then."
  22. Same for me. Remember having to buy memberships to drink at local bars because Grayson County was dry.
  23. Is that guy in the cowboy hat Bob Wheeler?
