  1. We missed the deep shots early. And Fromm was so rattled from those hits late that the timing was way off on deep shots in the 4th quarter. They didn't have a chance. I'm surprised we didn't run jet sweeps, screens, and slants to attack the blitz. But your defense was so prepared, I would assume that they wouldn't have been successful either.
  2. Sam Ehlinger played like a man amongst boys. He seems like a great kid. I knew he would be trouble as a mobile QB and all of the attention that your WRs were going to need. But he showed out like an mvp. We don't have the linebackers to contain a player like that. Great game. The better team won.
  3. Next year is supposed to be our year. In a 3-4 defense, we had 1 returning linebacker with more than 1 start (and he became a backup). DL was retooling as well. 2018 and 2019 classes should square away the defense. Next year or not, we have each other on the schedule down the road. It is going to be fun knocking heads. Cheers
  4. Great game. Props to Orlando. It was fun. I already knew going into the game that you were on the rise. But y'all are back now and should have great momentum with recruiting and workouts.
  5. That was an ass whooping. There was no answer for the blitzes. Not from playcalling. Not from individual effort. And after Fromm got knocked around a few times, he was spooked on every snap after with his timing. Your offense gave us challenges that I expected. But I expected us to challenge your defense. "Yeah, but they have to stop us". LOL. Check, please.
  6. Yeah. We don't have another body like that who can do what he does. Oh well. Next man up
  7. Agreed. Swift/Holyfield have 302 total carries. The rest of the team has 235. Swift and Holyfield produce 6.599 yards per attempt. The rest of the team has 5.43 ypa. 235 attempts means about 18 carries per game for someone other than Holyfield/Swift (i.e. cutting out a lot of cupcake time and finishing out blowout games which most were).
  8. Against Tennessee, UGA is up 24-0 with about 9 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter... and you are concerned about our inability to sustain long drives and the two touchdowns put up by our backups late in the 4th quarter? The first fourth quarter TD was a 13 play 75 yard drive which ate up 7:39 on the clock (so your definition of late is only relative to how long we milked the clock). Against Missouri, our defense/special teams scores 2 TDs in the first half giving us a 20-7 lead at the half. Our offense scores 3 touchdowns on 4 drives in the 3rd quarter alone. Up 40-22 with 14:52 to go in the game, your concern is our offenses inability to put up 30 points as we drain 9:32 off the clock in the fourth quarter in a game that saw 68 bulldawg players on the participation report. Against Florida, we are up 23-11 at the start of the 4th quarter. When we get the ball after a Florida FG, our first team offense scores 9 plays, 75 yards in 2:33. Florida goes 3 and out. We go 6 plays 66 yards in 3:44 (5 of the 6 plays were runs being capped off by a 33 yard run by Swift. So your concern against the #10 team in the country is that we got a short field after 2 forced fumbles in 10 of our 36 points (beating the #10 team in the country by 19)? Against Kentucky, we are up 28-3 at the end of the third quarter where one of our four TD scoring drives was less than 54 yards. We milk over 10 minutes out of the 4th quarter. Our participation report again is over 65 players on the road against the #14 ranked team in the country. In three of the four specifics, we played a ton of backups late (Florida being the exception). We don't go into a game with a goal to score 4 long offensive TD drives. The goal is to win. And if comfortably, we want to prepare our 4 and 5 star under-class backups so they can help us in November, December, and January. I appreciate you looking for a "flaw" in our offense. We score fine.
  9. We drained almost 9 minutes on the clock in the 4th quarter with our backups against Auburn. The previous drive was 2 carries for 70 yards and a TD by DeAndre Swift. And you are questioning our ability to score 30 unassisted in games where we are up 14 to 17 points in the fourth? I'm answering your question. We measure success by getting our backups reps in those games. We have recruited very well. But they can't help us if they don't see the field throughout the season. There were 2 games where we didn't enjoy a 2 score lead in the fourth. LSU and Bama. Let's just say that we are seeing the fruits of those labors now with no Baker at CB, a questionable Walker at OLB, and questionable Davis at NT.
  10. Season long pattern? You seem perceptive. Did you notice the season long pattern of being up by 14+ points in the 4th quarter? Did you notice the pattern of long drives with lots of backups in the 4th quarter? I assume Texas is the same. But when these games are over, we want to get experience, drain the clock, and get out healthy with a win. A lot more important than trying to score as much as possible in the 4th.
  11. We have had trouble breaking 30 when up by multiple scores and getting reps for backups on offense and defense in the 4th quarter. We have developed into a very different team at the end of the year than the beginning of the year. Combining our youth and the number of reps that we have given the youth in second halves, several starter positions have flipped to younger, more talented players. I'm sure Texas is probably the same. But the point is that our backups on both sides of the ball have been more important than breaking 30. Our player participation reports have been up to 68 on the road. Against Auburn, Justin Fields and Brien Herrin ran 13 plays and 8:44 off the clock in our final drive of the 4th quarter. The defensive side of the ball was equally run by backups. If you want to see us break 30 points, don't look to a game where we are up 17 points in the 4th quarter. Not only are we deflating the football, we are doing it with backups.
  12. If I'm attacking the UGA offense, you put numbers in the box. Jam receivers. Pressure the QB. Stick to the tailbacks like glue. You will give up big plays in the run and pass. But don't let the offense control the ball. Don't let fromm breathe. He's not mobile. QBs are not more accurate when pressured. QBs are not more accurate 15+ yards downfield. Don't let the tailbacks have any space the first 10 yards as they are our primary weapon. If you can limit the TOP, then you may have a chance to wear down the defense and make some hay in the second half running and throwing.
  13. UGA has very good legs in the kicking game. But when there is a return, we have been poor. As for turnovers, Tua has thrown 3 interceptions in 2 games against us (just a little over 4 quarters to be honest. He has thrown 6 in his college career). We aren't great at turnovers (hurts may be more like Sam, and we have zero INTS against Jalen), but we have been timely the past couple of seasons.
  14. Last season, we played our normal defense against mizzou. We gave up two 64 yard bombs (we took away their best receiving target, but #2 torched us). We attacked the passing game this year and virtually gave them numbers in the run game. To mizzou's credit, they marched the field for 4 scores on the ground. But with no help from the passing game, our lead was never in jeopardy.
