  1. Laurie speaks out of both sides of her mouth. She praised how many Americans were getting the vaccine on her twit then turns around and says that it had no significant bearing on the numbers Typical for a journalist. This is the quality of American journalism these days. It has been dead for years.
  2. Not surprised coming from a generation that thinks every facet of life is seen through the lens of celebrity worship and entertainment. And that guy must be drowning in the DMs of girls wanting to get some of that.
  3. The guy is spewing out panic porn. He did it during Ebola as well. He needs to stick to research and publishing peer reviewed papers. He needs to stay out of the news cycle. His track record for the last 6 months sucks.
  4. This is not a surprise if you followed the case, evidence and testimony despite the naysayers on here. However, you can see the palpable relief on the face of the crowd outside the courtroom. They probably had too many experiences where justice was not served.
  5. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/making-sense-chaos/202104/what-are-the-charges-derek-chauvin-is-facing This is a good write up on the charges and the applicable points to this case. If the jurors got the instructions right, then I see 3rd degree murder as a likely guilty verdict.
  6. Everything is now viewed through the prism of race. It’s got to be exhausting.
  7. Remember, we’re talking about the American public that has to have no more than 3.5 second visual/sound bites. And you’re asking a lot for them to remember more than 6 months into the past. Our politicians respond/pander accordingly.
  8. Go look at the titles on the 1st page and try to be neutral. It is full of ideologies with caustic (Blah Blah Blah is a piece of $#@! ) viewpoints that lean heavily left. The CR is a mutual admiration society. They feel comfortable in that bubble. So does the right. Political forums on Texags fall on the other end of the spectrum. It looks severe according to those on the far left just as a typical Texags poster would look at the CR and be incredulous on the left bias. Also, the CR follows an 80/20 rule. 80 percent of the posts come from 20 percent of the posters. That is likely an underestimate and I wouldn't be surprised if it's 95/5. There are a few posters who fall on either side of the political spectrum that engage in appropriate debate. But why does one need to stand knee deep in CR sewage to do it? I haven't looked at the OP's history of posting. But it is clear he was crowdsourced by several posters or socks. I don't have a strong opinion on whether or not he should have come here to bitch about it.
  9. I think the moderators need to have a pop-up box that ask you if you really want to go into the CR and then some kind of password and affidavit that ask you to be sure that you want to post in the CR. I think the CR was meant to create some kind of containment but apparently they hired some people from Wuhan to run it. My advice, don’t go there. Nobody is changing minds or the world in that forum.
  10. Lunch there today. So legit. Nice staff too.
  11. You’d never make it in panic porn. Never put anything in perspective.
  12. I’ve been saying for months that guy needs to be put out to pasture. He loves himself and his panic porn and the MSM bites on that lure every time he throws it out.
  13. I read that statement in this guy’s voice. It’s exactly the statement and tenor that I imagined would come from a college administrator.
  14. The guy apparently also has a phd in epidemiology so he at least isn’t completely out of his element but the doomsday crap has got to stop. The amount of egos in modern science and public health that cloud the issue with hysteria is astounding. Twitter for phd nerds is one of the worst things that could happen for public health.
  15. This guy has a million dollar bond set. How does a guy who “allegedly” shoots multiple people including a LEO get any type of bond?
  16. We were having a significant increase in suicides before the pandemic. So now we have two moving points with the possibility that suicides could have finally peaked and were about to start decreasing without the pandemic but I’ve held steady since the pandemic and possibly due to the pandemic. And historically CDC data is lagging. It is really hard to draw recent conclusions based on their numbers. For other issues such as morbidity and mortality of chronic disease, I find CDC data to be accurate about 2 to 3 years out.
  17. https://namica.org/blog/impact-on-the-mental-health-of-students-during-covid-19/ https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanchi/article/PIIS2352-4642(20)30109-7/fulltext https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.02.10.21251526v1 https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2773296 I guess you can be obtuse about the suicide specifics of it. But I don’t know how we have an increase in anxiety and depression and somehow miraculously don’t have an increase in suicide rates.
  18. Covid infection can absolutely cause cardiac inflammatory disease and we still don’t know how long this may last for some patients. There appears to be quite a bit of asymptomatic cardiac inflammation in adults who contract Covid. it is a little bit unusual to see pericarditis after vaccination because the mechanism of inflammation from infection versus immunization is quite different. Sometimes pericarditis is evident on EKG and MRI is actually your gold standard but most patients don’t have MRIs for diagnosis. We often diagnose pericarditis clinically. If this is a big concern with vaccination, then we really should be attempting to get cardiac MRIs on patients. Most pericarditis is self resolving and does not lead to any significant reduction of cardiac function by the way.
  19. The chip in your arm can be read by surveillance cameras anyway. Big bother knows who’s been vaccinated. 😉
