  1. I’d like to know how that Prideful Goat is. Checking their Facebook page it looks like it’s only at Spec’s in Dallas and Houston right now. I’m hoping it makes its way to SA soon.
  2. I don’t think it’s as much product scarcity as it is the games that distributors play with stores to get allocated products. Yes, there are fewer allocated bottles made than your standard stuff, but I’m sure distributors hold more stuff back than they really should be. They’re the ones creating the “scarcity” games, not the distilleries. All you have to do is join a Facebook bourbon group and see the massive amounts of allocated bottles that these flippers have. Flippers pay off managers at stores to get the info on when stuff is coming in. Hell, I know of a manager for a chain in SA and New Braunfels who flips bottles on the side. Case in point, look at Weller 107. That shit is all around Ohio like it’s water. Yet, here in Texas we get a few allocated drops a year. You gotta have your name on some list or get lucky on an incoming drop to score it. You mean to tell me that Buffalo Trace is sending Ohio more Weller 107 than fucking Texas? In the words of Kevin McCallister, “I don’t think so”. I know it likely won’t happen since the distributors have huge lobbying influence in the state, but I hope Texas signs on to let customers buy directly from distilleries like many other states do and will do in the future.
  3. Usually it’s through local groups on Facebook and people work out cash deals or trades and then meet up in town. There are also national groups under the same premise and then just ship the bottles to each other. A couple weeks ago I traded a bottle of Jack Daniels Barrel Proof Rye (a backup I had) to a guy in New Orleans for a Stagg Jr. (batch 14). We just handled our own shipping and I had my Stagg Jr in a few days.
  4. At least we know Waddle will now finally end up at Texas.
  5. Secondary right now is around $1100
  6. Seems like an Old Tub kinda guy to me.
  7. Tonight’s lineup will include the following. I’m psyched that I don’t have to assemble any large items this evening so I can truly enjoy these. Enjoy your drams, fellas.
  8. Grab a second if you can. There’s a pretty active trade market for these. I was able to trade my second bottle for a Stagg Jr (batch 14).
  9. That ain't the friggin Christmas star, Gris. That's a light on at the sewage treatment plant!
  10. Swung by Debs today and picked up the Bardstown Discovery Series 3 for $140. Ive heard great things about it, so I’m excited to give it a try. Tough to go wrong with high age MGP.
  11. If you get a chance, try to High West Double Rye pick from Debs. It’s finished in Syrah barrels. I’m usually not a big finished rye fan either, but I love Syrah so I wanted to give it a go. Glad I did.
  12. For you cigar smokers out there, pick up the new Alec Bradley Kintsugi cigar and pair it with a Russell’s store pick. You can thank me later.
  13. Yessir. Right in the shelf.
  14. Hah, we cleaned out SA today.
  15. Haven’t you been paying attention? He’s made home run hires with the women’s basketball and softball coaches. You know, the programs that really matter.
  16. A guy from the Bourbon Junkies Facebook group created these. He sells them if you’re interested. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSewBZ6Vj8F19XV8kWp73uyUxjtaBK68VSvfWwQJ5Mb2xdRhOg/viewform
  17. What year? That’s still well under secondary. Sure, way above retail, but not an unfair price by any means.
