  1. I saw some of that Makers 101 while out and about today. Anyone try that yet? I think it’s like $35 at Specs, but Total Wine had some as well.
  2. Someone paid you 200 for W12? What in the actual fuck. Who are these people who drop that kind of money on W12? They’re quite popular in Fireball contests because a spot is usually around $12-$15. Basically a lottery ticket with 10% chance of cashing, so many feel that’s not too steep an investment in something that’s rarely available on the shelf at MSRP.
  3. Weller Single Barrel may soon overtake W12 as trade champion. $50 MSRP of good, but nothing special, juice currently going for $500+ on secondary. When I snagged mine I had no trouble trading it for Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend AND Bardstown Chateau de Laubade.
  4. Allocated bottles are doled out based on sales volume. So smaller stores may only get a single bottle of something special (like a George T. Stagg or something else on that level). Even bigger stores like Total Wine don’t get a huge amount of allocated bottles either. For example, during this summer’s big Weller drop, most Total Wine locations were sent like 3 ETLs, a few Weller Full Proofs and like 1 Weller CYPB. The distributors also probably hold back more than what the distilleries have sent in order to gin up demand more than it already is, so there’s that part of the puzzle to consider as well.
  5. The hype for SH14 is well worth it. It’s phenomenal.
  6. Spec’s is the best big box store to find McKenna. I’ve seen it there a few times on the shelf in the last few months for $35 or so. You can use Spec’s website to search for brands and McKenna is one that will show up when they have inventory. Solid stuff for $35, but not much more than that.
  7. Similar question. My mom is considering buying this Corvette. Any idea on costs to repair?
  8. ER shows up usually about once a month or so at the big box liquor stores. Most usually do store picks as well, but that’s only a couple times a year those will show up. Some will put them out on the shelf (like Total Wine) while others may keep them in the back and only give them out if you ask for them (Twin Liquors usually does this from my experience). The only chance you have at getting any Weller product other than Special Reserve is to get lucky during the annual Buffalo Trace/Weller drop. This is the usually once a year drop that Buffalo Trace does that will include a few ETLs, Weller Full Proofs and CYPBs and a few cases of OWA and W12. It’s my understanding that the big annual has already happened this year, so you probably aren’t finding those products at MSRP any time this year. Blanton's, Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace usually get dropped once a month. You’ll have to learn when your stores get their deliveries (it varies by store) to keep up with the flippers (who snatch up Blanton’s all the time because it’s an easy sale and they can double their investment). My best advice is to join local Facebook bourbon groups and that will hopefully tip you off when the good stuff is at least in your area. That way you can ramp up your hunting efforts at the right time. Being in these groups tipped me off when the big Weller drop happened and helped me snag BT Kosher Rye recipe, Weller Single Barrel, W12 and OWA all in the same week at MSRP. I’m just a regular dude like the rest of us here and not a flipper (who typically give kickbacks to store managers or employees for tips on when the good stuff is coming). Being in these local groups is about as good of a chance as you’ll get to having a chance at landing these allocated bottles.
  9. The Kosher Rye Recipe is fantastic. If you’re a Mashbill #2 fan, you’ll love it.
  10. Love the Bourbon Junkies. I’m a patron and can’t wait for the Sagamore Rye pick they did that is hopefully coming in the next couple months.
  11. Jason Callori. I’m a big fan of his channel. I enjoy how he does his reviews. He’s recently been giving Buffalo Trace a hard time for how much they allocate everything and how that drives the secondary market pricing out of control.
  12. Hadn’t played in a Fireball contest in a while, so I hopped in one tonight. Won a Michter’s Toasted Rye for $32. I’ll take that!
  13. The Sam Houston is amazing. It’s an oak bomb on the neck pour, but it’s phenomenal once it opens up. OE7 is very solid as well.
  14. I’m sure Robin, like her ex-husbands, is six feet under.

  16. Landed a Booker’s Country Ham today at Spec’s for $80. I’ve never had Booker’s before and have always heard that Country Ham was the best batch, so I figured what the hell.
  17. Pretty sure there was a EHTBP drop on Friday. I was in Plano over the weekend and stopped in a Goody Goody on my way into town on Friday afternoon and they said they had gotten some that morning.
  18. Haha no doubt. That chick has friends that are hot as well that get ignored because their friend is a smoke show.

  20. That would be Dickel juice you have there, my friend. MGP comes from Indiana.
  21. I heard it was going to be $200, so I didn’t keep an eye out for when it was going to be released. He only made a Facebook announcement to say it was sold out, but never said when it would drop (like he usually does with his other picks).
  22. Sipping on a Total Wine store pick of Jack Daniels Barrel Proof during my fantasy football draft. Cheers, y’all.
  23. I traded for a Cigar Blend (batch 24) and cracked it open last weekend. It’s faaaaaaantastic, especially with a quality stick.
  24. Haha, I’m pretty lucky. I get the occasional side eye, but she doesn’t give me any shit for my habit.
  25. Add Rare Breed to your list (both the bourbon and the rye)
