  1. Oh I'm not saying Bama should want him gone. I think he's a damn good coach. But objectively speaking, that fanbase had turned on him already. Hilarious example: Alabama Fan Says She’d Use Powerball Winnings To Buy Out DeBoer - Yahoo Sports It's highly unlikely but I'm just wondering if he could be pissed at how he's been treated there and open to a move.
  2. I don't think they're talking about the kid anymore. More about..uhh..reasons for missing 30 days in January. Things that may have plagued him at USC and UW perhaps... But idk, this thread is a confusing trainwreck. Probably time for nuking it.
  3. Yeah he fucked up this offseason with this "NFL-style" experiment and not addressing the OL, but he crushed the two offseasons before that. If he is willing/able to admit the new approach failed, he can turn things around just by doing what he's already done. That's very different from hoping someone does something completely new. The only reason he'd be fired is if his personal life has truly spiraled to a point of no return, or if he insists on keeping everything the same (lax offseason schedule, weak portal effort, etc). No insight on the former. I highly doubt he'll leave the OL unaddressed again. I hope he's aware/humble enough to revert to the old offseason schedule but wouldn't be shocked either way.
  4. I mean clearly he's had some shit go down in his personal life. Gossip aside, he did publicly announce a divorce and then end up with a new kid instead. Even if that's the full story, that's a lot to deal with (a new baby is a lot to deal with, period, lol).
  5. What are the chances of someone convincing DeBoer to leave Bama? I assume things have smoothed over but definitely had a rocky start. Their fans were ready to oust him as recently as early this season. I wonder if he's happy there or could be lured away.
  6. This. Unless there are "off-field" things that can't be stomached, he will get a chance to right the ship. As he should. He is one year removed from being widely considered a top 5 coach. This offseason was a cluster that burned this season (not addressing the OL, weakening the offseason practice schedule, etc), but he can revert back to his previous approach that worked well if he has the self-awareness to do so.
  7. Kinda interesting - BetOnline has Jon Sumrall as the early favorite for LSU, followed by Joe Brady and then Kiffin. Brady seems like he prefers NFL but damn, how can you turn down one of these massive guaranteed college coach contracts especially at his age. He'd be set for life and could always go back to the NFL later. Speaking of NFL coordinators, I wonder if Todd Monken gets looks from anyone? He did well as OC at UGA and as HC at Southern Miss a while back
  8. The crazy thing about this carousel is the lack of proven candidates. Kiffin is basically the only guy who's done it at multiple schools and/or an extended period. You could argue Drinkwitz or Cignetti. Maybe Satterfield but he wasn't very good at Louisville. Who else - Fisch? Mullen? Sumrall? The other hot names, Key, Lea, Dillingham, have had 1 good year. Full stop. Joe Brady appears in a bunch of articles but he, like Kliff, is probably an NFL HC soon. Complete side note - Jeff Choate is 1-7 this year. Another one (unfortunately) on the hot seat.
  9. Kiffin is gonna crush it at LSU or Florida. The dude has a stud offense everywhere he goes with whoever he plugs in at QB. Get him some top-tier talent on defense and watch out
  10. Why do you think this is? I've thought the same this year (maybe January and Jelani have improved?). But the last couple years have seen guys with tons of improvement.
  11. Question: Is this how any of y'all would talk about a player that fucked your wife? "He's a fantastic player," Sark said late Thursday night. "Matt showed everyone how fast he was with that 40 time, but his short area quickness, how he gets in and out of breaks makes him truly elite. He has extremely strong hands, makes contested catches, can do it at all three levels – whether it's the short game, the intermediate, the deep balls – and he's at his best in the most critical moments. You top that off with the blue-collar attitude he has, the fact that he's a great teammate who you can really count on day in and day out, that's what really separates him. He works, he's no nonsense, he's tough and does the dirty work blocking linebackers, safeties and event defensive ends. All in all, I think this guy is getting all that he deserves, and Green Bay is going to love him."
  12. Hilarious that a week after The Athletic puts out that horrendously dumb Arch article, Surly completely falls hook line and sinker for another piece of their clickbait. As for the Sark offseason stuff, I have no clue but something does seem fishy
  13. Don't forget Maalik looking lost when he played and Trey Owens regressing to 4th string in year 2.
  14. Doesn't help that 3 of the top 4 WRs were hurt all offseason either. What does Huff do now and how much does it matter from a football standpoint?
  15. Any assistants from PSU, Florida, etc that we'd want? I wouldn't mind bringing Stan Drayton back (ducks)
  16. I mean, contrary to what anyone expected when hired, he's done everything damn well except the OC part. Recruiting, NIL, player development, defense, etc. There are lots of reasons why he would still be the coach.
  17. Time for the weekly Surly reminder: Sark isn't going to divulge anything meaningful to the fucking press nor is he going to throw any coaches or players under the bus. Coach speak is coach speak and that is very normal. Let's see what he does this offseason before deciding if he's a blind idiot or not.
  18. Has there been any more insight on Chatman? People have alluded to an injury and I can't remember seeing him play this year. Seems like he could be a solution at LG if healthy.
  19. Dillingham, Lea, and Brent Key are interesting situations - all 3 are at their alma mater and could be still considered somewhat "1-hit wonders" at this stage (ie can they do it consistently or have they just lucked into a stud QB for now?). Does anyone have enough confidence in them to do what it would take to pull them away? My guess is not yet this year.
  20. I don't know what happened to Goosby this offseason. He was so damn good last year against some tough opponents. He's doing OK this year but nothing like what we saw. He and Arch have been the biggest headscratchers this year because we saw what they could do and it's just not happening this year so far. The other 3 OL (besides DJ) were always question marks coming into the season, we just didn't expect this level of shittiness. Neto also a major headscratcher. Idk what he could've possibly done to go from 1st team all offseason to still not seeing snaps behind this LG shitshow.
  21. Umm key phrase "for the rest of the 2025 season"...
  22. That's my only explanation for how lopsided coaching contracts have become. Sexton basically has a monopoly on coach representation so he has all the leverage. The buyouts are wild on their own, but what's dumber is that the coaches can leave for pennies. That gives them all the leverage to renegotiate their deal whenever they have a good year
  23. He's a Vandy alum and Nashville native so that would be tougher than you'd think. But also, he was doing very poorly before Pavia and the New Mexico assistants arrived so idk if I'd trust him tbh.
  24. What are the buyouts for assistants like Flood and Milwee? And if it's the full $1.5mm for Flood, do you can him now or spend that $1.5mm on portal OL this offseason?
  25. Oh I think I see what you mean now. So there are enough shaded tents you can hang out in without track views, there just isn't much shade while watching the cars?
