My only question with this hire is whether Akina can still develop as well at his age. Maybe that's a dumb question but idk. I assume Nansen would know.
Not worried about recruiting. NIL and other coaches can lead the charge in that area. And there is plenty to sell with Akina's resume.
Akina is a hilarious surprise. Very unlike Sark. I guess Nansen must have been a big advocate?
Don't forget Sark hired Akina as an analyst last year but he got a DC role at Arizona and immediately went back
I don't get Sean Miller. Missed the tourney his last 3 years at Arizona and on track to miss it the last two at Xavier. Pass.
Brad Brownell has made the tourney 4 times in 15 years at Clemson. Yeah he's on a nice two year run right now but that's the exception, not the rule with him.
Lloyd has done well, I'd like that hire. Texas might not be a step up for him though.
Mccollum doesn't seem to fit CDC's profile of someone who has done well in P4. He only has one year in D1 at all. But he's an interesting up and comer. High risk/reward I guess.
Did I miss something where TJ Otz's buyout isn't an issue? I thought people said it was like $18 mil or something.
Apparently reading comprehension is a problem because he said no Texas coach has been offered the job, not that none are in discussions. Highly doubt he singled out a New Orleans defensive job for no reason.
Khenon Hall seems interesting.
Samples interviewed with the Cowboys so I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the mix
We know Sark likes Drayton based on wanting to retain him for several years. And NIL can do some of the recruiting for him now. I wonder if he could be brought in as an analyst though since he's getting paid by Temple.
Keith Hayward. And he resigned as DC to spend more time with family. Doesn't seem realistic.
Karl Scott would be cool. He coached with Sark at Bama and was a Pete Carroll hire in Seattle. Have to wonder if he likes the NFL better but otherwise makes a lot of sense.
Idk anything about Banda but don't see any connection other than being from San Antonio and a grad assistant in the Mack era
Just when I thought I couldn't hate Jerry anymore, he could go and do something like this...and TOTALLY REDEEM HIMSELF
jk wouldn't care that much but wouldn't hurt to have him no longer recruiting against UT
Also, with no coach limits, if Choice left, why not Samples AND Drayton lol? Samples does all the recruiting, Drayton helps as assistant coach / analyst. Show me a loss.
Not doubting, just curious - why is the belief here that Lance Jackson won't have much impact this year? DE seems to be a position where freshman can shine quickly and his measurables seem college ready.
Obviously I understand he's behind at least 3 vets but seems like he could find his way into the rotation especially if Vasek isn't healthy.
Cowboys feel like one of the only jobs Choice would leave for since he has history there.
Also when did Jerry go so full nepotism with his staff hires? Pretty much all the rumored HC candidates had history there - Schot, Witten, Deion, Kellen Moore...Eberflus at DC, now Choice for RB coach.
10 years on Gundy's staff, that's an interesting hire. Wonder what his role will be. Hopefully something that helps in the red zone.
Maybe this gives Banks more time to coach Special Teams too.
Is the deadline gone for tOSU portal entries? Might not matter anyway but supposedly Jim Knowles is heading to PSU. Chip is also a popular NFL OC candidate
