  1. Pretty sure Nolen's dad would be advertising the shit out of a visit if he was coming so I'll bet against him on this secret guy. Jake Johnson seems very possible. Would we look at Overton?
  2. Yep. Imo the true needs are 1-2 WR, 1 S, 1 TE (unless Juan Davis is showing out in practice). That's it. Some nice-to-haves: 1 LB, that 2nd WR, 1 DT. Maybe 1 CB. "Not needed but these players are badass so we'd take them": DE/edge Def not spending money barring surprise departures: QB, RB, OL.
  3. I'm fine with that but hope they aren't sitting back and slow-playing Moore (and Mukuba)
  4. At least we're getting guys from some pipeline schools in-state. 2 from Duncanville, likely 1 incoming from Waco Connaly, 1 Atascocita, Allen, etc.
  5. What's the scouting report on this Deion Burks guy? Had like 600 yards this year as a Jr and not much his first two years. That's all I know but sure seems odd that we offered him and not yet on Wells, Sheppard or a bunch of others.
  6. Honest question - why is Deion Burks so highly regarded? His numbers aren't that special Hopefully Will Sheppard gets a call
  7. Random side observation but kinda crazy that his snap counts across three years were only 2 snaps different at most
  8. Good for Choate. Sad to lose him but I'll be rooting for him. Seems like a good dude
  9. So I guess playoff teams still have the same portal window as everyone else? Seems a little messed up that players have to decide to enter before the playoffs. And tough for coaches to "encourage" them to do so..
  10. You joke around, but just wait until Elon decides to support the local community and mess with the nation by buying them an all-star team lol
  11. Schools like Vandy and Duke are going to get gutted every single year now. Never going to hang on to the occasional good players they have. Sad for the sport, and probably not good for it long term as entire fanbases just completely stop watching.
  12. Yeah he deserves a rais but let's not pull a Jimbo / Mel Tucker here..
  13. Have you heard of this thing called money?
  14. I posted this above but Fanduel has us -700 to make the playoffs. They have Bama and FSU close to a coin flip with slight edge to FSU
  15. The FSU situation is a really tough one. From a resume standpoint, they 100% deserve to be in. But they will also be potentially double-digit underdogs against whoever they play which is pretty shitty for the playoff.
  16. Fanduel has Texas' odds to make the playoff at -850 right now. Bama is -122 and FSU is -150.
  17. Yeah I'm with you. As a fan of the sport in general, it's sad to see. It is quickly becoming impossible for low/mid-tier programs to even have a couple years of success because anytime they find a diamond in the rough, that player is immediately out the door.
  18. My view is that Quinn likely gives us a better chance to win next year but Arch is obviously a longer term guy. Hopefully they both stay but I wouldn't be surprised if either left. Sounds like 1 redshirt year was always in the plan for Arch but 2 on the bench probably wasn't. Then again, hard to guarantee he'd start anywhere else big next year coming in cold and behind the incumbents.
  19. Is it just me or does this Portal cycle seem crazier than last year considering it hasn't even officially opened yet..
  20. Lol at Looch - "Mike Elko had a sales pitch and plan for this place. I would bet a million dollars that he was the most impressive person they talked to because he was knowledgeable of this place and because of who he is." Elko was so impressive that the interviewer Bjork decided to offer Mark Stoops first...
  21. That's the funny thing about sports - the bar keeps moving higher no matter what. Pre-season, we'd all consider this season a major success even if we lose this weekend (I thought we'd get 9 or 10 wins). Objectively, this season already is a success. But still, I'll admit that it may not feel that way if we lose this week.
  22. It's really not that complicated. We aren't jumping Oregon regardless of what we think should happen. Our only chances are: 1. FSU loses and UGA wins - almost definitely in 2. FSU loses and Bama wins - Probably in but could the committee go full-SEC and put UGA and Bama in over us? Tbh it's possible. Hard to leave UGA out and Bama has to jump them. 3. FSU wins and Bama wins - comes down to Texas vs Bama. Pretty much a coin flip what these idiots would decide but I don't feel great about the chances of them completely leaving out the SEC. So yeah - #1 is clearly the best case scenario. The others are all still dicey. Again, this isn't what I think should be the case in a fair world, it's just the reality. Of course, none of this matters if we don't take care of business vs Ok St. Let's worry about that first..
