  1. Kliff is a TX guy who probably grew up a Cowboys fan. It'd be real hard for him to turn down head coach of the Dallas Cowboys with an established franchise QB and WR.
  2. Idk what it says bc paywall but Bobby has an update on OTF, maybe that's where
  3. I know this doesn't really mean anything but Bovada has Deion at EVEN odds for the Cowboys job rn LOL (Joe Brady and Ben Johnson next closest fwiw)
  4. I'm not saying to design a bunch of run plays for him. I'm talking old school QB sneaks with 1 yard to go. Even his slow ass uncles did those.
  5. It's a balance for sure. If you take too many, the young guys won't get enough reps to develop, so then you can get into a cycle of portal reliance at a position. Sorta like DT right now (although that was probably more of a HS recruiting issue). On the other hand, again, you don't want to be dependent on a true freshman immediately stepping in, or even someone like Butler/Livingstone who hasn't faced live fire in college and who must not be good enough yet to get snaps (you never know how fast they'll develop). So yeah, 1 or 2 would be the smart move imo and that still give you plenty of reps for the youngsters. If a youngster breaks through, then awesome, there's a good chance you'll need them anyway with injuries.
  6. A freshman WR can be good but that is an exception for rare talents like Smith, Ryan Williams, etc. Imo you should almost never be counting on a true freshman to be a difference maker at any position. It's just a big gamble. As a coach, would you really want to roll the dice on the Arch era by counting on a WR who's never played a college snap? Especially when the other two sure-fire starters are young and somewhat unproven themselves. And then you have to consider the possibility of injuries. If Wingo or Moore go down, that room is extremely green. I'm not saying we need 3 transfers (I thought that was overkill last year) but I do think 1 proven starter would be prudent assuming Bond and Golden leave, which appears to be the case.
  7. Random question but how do QBs work on QB sneaks if they can't get touched in practice? Tush push with Arch should be an absolute slam dunk in short yardage next year but QB sneaks are a skill that he probably needs to develop. The between the legs direct snap is a great counter to keep defenses honest too. Also, agree with others that he seems to need some work on not fumbling.
  8. Damn I though Moore was likely to come back. He really hit his stride second half of the season, really hope he returns.
  9. Now that the season is over, does anyone have the full story on Bond? Was his disappearance really all injury-related or did he get in the dog house? He suited up for almost every game but became essentially non-existent and started getting outsnapped by Wingo who didn't do that much either. It was also surprising to see Vasek suddenly getting real snaps last night. Has he played all year? Interesting time to throw him in there. Didn't watch him closely but seemed like he played well. Might be able to pencil him into the 2-deep next year. Also, I withdraw my previous surprise about looking for a portal OG. Please get that USC guy.
  10. If Moore comes back, DE seems pretty loaded with him, Simmons, Burke and a rotational body from the youngster ranks (Lance Jackson or Vasek most likely). If Moore leaves, then yeah probably need someone. WR and S definitely depend on NFL decisions, but if those guys all declare (which seems likely for the WRs at least), there is very little returning production in those rooms. You'd only have 2 WRs (Wingo and Moore) and 2 S (Jelani and a recovering Williams) with any meaningful playing time. Going into a season with that little experienced depth would be very dicey. Part of my surprise is also just bc Sark has been so aggressive with WR portal until now. I mean he took 3 last year despite plenty of young talent in Wingo, Moore, and Johntay.
  11. Surprising portal approach from the staff so far this year. I did not expect DE, iOL to have as many visitors as WR and more than S as we near the end of this portal window. Quite interesting. I would've though G was pretty set with Hutson, Campbell, and Neto. Then again, clearly run game needs improvement. Sounds like Oregon and Tenn are the main competition for Pregnon.
  12. I mostly definitely didn't have EDGE as a portal need but this is the 2nd guy linked to UT. Interesting..
  13. Kirk-o says Sark ain't going anywhere this year UT: Jay Hartzell's departure, Steve Sarkisian's future, CFP concerns
  14. Apologies for the transfer talk but do we think we'll take a portal WR during this window? Seems like a position you'd typically want here for spring camp. Sark has historically been very aggressive at portal WR so I'm surprised they haven't shown much interest in anyone other than Singleton. Window is closing quickly though.
  15. Is Sark gonna be able to figure out Jim Knowles this time? Those two matchups against him with Ok St did not go well..
  16. Hadn't seen it posted but...I did say SIAP which means I am immune from all criticism
  17. Shaw also has a tangible backstory for why he underperformed years 1 and 2 - he supposedly got close to 400 lbs and just this past year reigned it back in. There may be more physical progress Becton can help him tap into in addition to getting more reps and technique coaching.
  18. I mean, Branch has more production than AD Mitchell or Golden did, all as Sophomores...
  19. Why tf do we have to get the Cowboys and Texans meaningless games of backups on TV instead of Falcons or Bucs? so annoying
  20. NFL owners are often dumb but I have a hard time believing Sark could get a HC job now even if he's interested. Maybe interviews, but not likely hired. College coaches have not done well in the NFL and his NFL OC stint was not good. No idea how a GM/owner could justify that hire (although I would've said the same when Kliff was hired). Also he might not even be interested of course.
  21. It's been alluded to in other sports that CDC likes coaches who have had success at multiple programs including a P4 one or at least had sustained high level success. Guys like Schloss, Sark is debatable but had UW, USC, Bama on his resume, the new swim coach, etc. With that in mind, I would think Otzelberger from ISU would be realistic call #1. Nate Oats if he's interested. Bruce Pearl if he didn't have the baggage. Rick Barnes if he hadn't been fired here lol. That said, the up-and-comer route does have potential. A bit riskier though so doesn't seem to be CDC's MO.
  22. Um yeah where is this lack of NIL concept coming from? On paper, RT landed a great class this offseason that couldn't have been cheap - Mark, Pope, and Kaluma were all averaging like 15/game in the P4. Everyone wanted Tre Johnson. Larry and Kent were very solid for a tournament team. There's no way that group was cheap.
