Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor
Is Leonard Moore related to UT professor Leonard Moore or is that just a coincidence? Leonard N. Moore | Liberal Arts | UT - Austin (interesting: courses taught includes History of College Football)

2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
I truly think it's the "busy" part. He didn't seem to have these issues as an OC when he could spend a lot of time in-game reviewing/thinking/planning/adjusting. Now he doesn't have that time because he's watching the defense. The problem is that he hasn't compensated. Either he needs more playcalling input from elsewhere, or he needs to step away from the sideline on occasion to strategize offense while the defense is on the field.

2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
In terms of new positions, I would like: 1. A full-time ST coordinator 2. a red zone coach. Ideally someone who can also help with general halftime adjustments. 3. outside the box here: a few "scout team" coaches - people who focus full-time on coaching the Freshman/redshirts to jumpstart their development. Bc I assume the primary coaches are focused on the starters/2nds in all the practice reps. Maybe my assumption is wrong though.

Do guys have NDAs when they come on board? Kinda bs that ATM could now get literally the entire offensive playbook from Amari

It'll be interesting to see how they change things now that there is no limit for on-field assistant coaches. He could hire a full-time ST coordinator, add totally new position coach roles, or more experienced assistant position coaches.

This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
I hope they increased the buyout if he leaves voluntarily so Sexton can't keep holding UT hostage every year. These contracts are always insanely lopsided - pay basically everything to fire a guy but they can leave on their own for pennies

I feel like people underrate the difficulty of being a full-time OC in game while also being head coach. As a standalone OC, you can spend every timeout and defensive possession reviewing clips, thinking about the next drive, talking to players, etc. As HC, you spend that time focused on the defense, special teams and time mgmt. You don't have "free time" to look at clips from previous drives or think about what the offense will do next. Point being - I'm pretty sure Sark can make adjustments as an OC, but does he have the time to figure out what those adjustments should be while also doing HC duties? Probably not. Maybe that's why a playcaller hasn't won a championship in so long..

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor
So to recap: 1. People are already signing rev share agreements even though it hasn't been passed and the DOE is saying Title IX applies 2. It was a multi-year rev share agreement 3. Anyone can leave anytime they want Got it, cool. Seems healthy.

Wait, they don't? Then wtf was all this transfer shit about all these years?

NIL Recruiting News Megathread
Seems like the disconnect is the DOE is treating this as student financial aid, to which Title IX applies, when pragmatically-speaking they're really just employees being paid according to their value. Schools can pay teachers, chancellors, or Ministers of Culture whatever they want in order to benefit the university, but no, these athletes are just simple students getting financial benefit for attending the university and none should be treated differently. Lol If this sticks, seems like it would mean fewer schools max out their rev share cap (bc of all the negative financial-return $ required to be spent on women's sports) and collectives will continue to be a big source of NIL (to get around Title IX). It's yet another stupid twist in this whole NIL saga. Just make it a minor-league NFL already because that's clearly the only place this can end up.

For some reason I thought Juan had another year left. Who was the genius that played him in 5 games his first year burning his redshirt..

Historically Sark has been aggressive at portal WR but who knows now. Maybe not. AD was good. Golden was average at first but great in the second half. Bond was the reverse - started strong then disappeared. Bolden and Neyor didn't really get much chance because of depth chart and injury but I'd say Bolden did his part. Agiye was a flyer that failed. Overall though that list was pretty crucial to the team the last couple years.

So seems like biggest spring portal wants are DT, K, TE, WR imo. WR or TE would've been nice to have for spring practice but oh well. And maybe shore up the OL or secondary opportunistically. I feel like spring portal could get wild depending on all this regulatory stuff with Title IX and the House Settlement. If schools have been making deals with the expectation of revenue sharing budget and that number gets lowered or delayed by the gov't, there could be chaos due to unfulfilled promises. Who knows what will happen though..

NIL Recruiting News Megathread
How many NIL promises were made this winter under the assumption football would be getting the bulk of rev share? If this holds up, some schools are gonna be so fucked

What do we think about the two PSU WRs in the portal, Omari Evans and Harrison Wallace? Yeah I know they struggled vs ND but decent overall production in the Big 10 on an iffy passing offense.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a donor whose funds were dedicated to revenge tampering lol? Like if tOSU tampers MM away, we go offer Downs a big deal. Assuming they match, you offer Jeremiah Smith a big deal. And keep going down the list to make them feel some pain. Even if you don't get anyone from them, just make them pay a little extra for their own retention. Maybe that keeps them from tampering with us as much in the future.

Speedster from Killeen. 19 yards per catch this year. Go get him Sark

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor
Important to remember that every departure theoretically frees up budget money to be used elsewhere. So these "losses" may end up being more like trades for other portal prospects TBD. The unfortunate part is that we're so late to the winter portal party bc of the playoffs that no one is really available until spring.
-
Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor
I don't know if that was his plan but making a playoff run complicated things. Until now he didn't know who would be staying/leaving and how much they'd cost. Now the winter portal is closed and the good players are taken so there isn't really a choice. If not for playoff timing, I think it would be dumb to focus on spring portal. You want guys here for spring practice.
