I'd be good with that. Yeah Spence seems like a very solid 3rd LB behind Hill/Lefau and with 2 years of eligibility, he could possibly develop into something more which is big with Hill likely going pro after this year.
The Purdue TE seems similar. Another Soph with good P5 production, maybe not a 1st round type but likely to be a solid contributor immediately and the has time to develop further. I like this kind of take.
(Obvious disclaimer: I haven't watched any of these guys, just going off stats, etc)
This Brad Spence guy who's visiting seems like an underrated intriguing option. Only a Soph and good numbers at Arky. From Klein Forest.
edit: he had a sack against UT this year too
Very random question but how does the school end up with these trophies? Do they get a replica made to display? I would think the players would want to keep them
CJ Vogel wrote this, last part seems like a hint:
On the note of Texas adding a punter – Bobby Burton added the nugget this morning that Texas was able to get former P Michael Dickson on the phone yesterday with Utah portal P Jack Bouwmeester, a cool piece of recruiting behind the scenes.
I was told the visit went well on Saturday and that there is momentum here. I am hopeful to go fully in depth about the visit details, say... early afternoon today.
Agree with all this. Most good punters suck their first year and then make big jumps over the next couple. Just look at the Utah and Purdue guy's first year avg - Kern is just as good as either were. Both of those guys improved around 5 yards the next year. Dickson was the same. Considering Kern's injury and his summer arrival, no reason to think he won't improve.
With that said, it makes sense to have 2 punters now that numbers don't matter, so might as well bring in a veteran while Kern develops / in case he doesn't.
Well he did run pretty well against ATM on said ankle..
But in general, Quinn's deep ball issues are probably just as limiting to playbook as his mobility. Sark isn't exactly known for dual threat QBs anyway. The sucktitude of the running game also has impacted playcalling for sure.
Do your thing Nansen. Although guessing he might go pro.
Dalton Johnson, AZ starting safety from Katy, also in the portal. Honorable mention all Big 12
Interesting to see the different portal approaches playing out already. ATM is lining up visits left and right, especially at WR (Hudson, Concepcion, Nic Anderson, Mario Craver), while Texas isn't doing squat so far.
Do yall think playoff teams are going to be a little slower hitting the portal? Seems like all of the visits I've seen are non-playoff teams, other than the one Ga Tech WR to UGA.
