This is definitely the most surprising hire Sark has made so far but it could end up being a great one. There's nothing saying the guy is bad, there's just not much saying he's good either. Very limited track record either way.
The Choice comparison is silly but actually this hire isn't all that far off from Chris Jackson, who only had 4 total years of coaching experience (all NFL, 1 on defense, 2 as assistant WR coach). Granted, Jackson had a long playing career too.
Now we just have to hope hope the new Special Assistant - Defense can help coach both the secondary and DL..
SIAP but what about Clint Hurtt as a possibility? He may be waiting for the HC hire to see if he still has a job. Obviously a Pete Carroll connection there.
I'm not even ready to assume he loses a bunch of games next year. He seems to be assembling a good staff, he's a good coach himself, and that roster is still loaded with talent. Plus I assume he will pull some transfers in before the season starts.
If he can figure out the QB situation (big if), I expect Bama to still be a top 10 team next year.
What's the scouting report on Niblack? How are his blocking and his hands?
I watched a highlight video and he looks faster than Sanders but also looks a little unnatural catching the ball. Of course they don't show drops on a highlight vid though so idk.
Honestly the NCAA investigating anyone for tampering at this point would be hilarious. So much of it going on and it's blatantly obvious when you see people enter the portal and the reporters IMMEDIATELY know where they're going.
Examples - Downs, Riley Leonard, Sam Hartman, Jordan Addison, AD, and many many more
I don't really understand their complaints about Bond. Wasn't the portal closed for him until Saban retired? And then he entered the portal immediately. If we did tamper, apparently we didn't go it well enough to get him to leave until Saban retired.
Jeez I didn't expect this much attrition either. Wonder where Proctor will end up, that will be a expensive one.
Seen a few rumors on twitter that Jaheim Oatis may enter. That would be a nice add if we could get him.
Kinda doubt the OC maybe getting another job would delay an announcement for an assistant DL coach. That's a lot of what-ifs away from being something relevant. Who knows though.
Interesting side note I just read on his Wiki - after two years as an assistant for the Redskins, Slowik worked as an analyst for PFF for three years before joining the 49ers.
I'd still maybe add Safety to that list. I know Mukuba or Barron will join that group but that still only leaves Taafe, Williams, and one of those two. Pretty thin there and Taafe/Williams need to get better if we're relying on them (which is possible, but still)
Otherwise agree. Idk who is better at blocking which is crucial but I actually like Yurosek over Niblack in the short term. Yurosek missed games this year but had some monster production before that. An advantage with Niblack is that he has more eligibility left though.
Can y'all at least click on profiles before you post this stuff? This is a random Texas fan making shit up
Yeah one of the recenet 9.95 updates was worded in a way that made me think it could be a situation like that.
Probably can't apply to college teams but I also read the Falcons are blocking interview requests for Nielsen.
Yeah but WR seems taken care of now. Added 2 starters, plus Wingo coming in and a year of growth from Cook, Moore, Niblett.
Obviously the big caveat to all this is that we have no idea how much money everyone is requiring. Maybe Bolden doesn't require as much NIL as we'd think. And maybe Niblack or others require a lot more. Who knows.
Add me to the "why spend NIL on another WR" camp. Would rather allocate that to Niblack or a DT.
Also, I don't think Bolden would come here if he's just going to be a gadget guy like Keilan. He can get WR opps elsewhere.
