Game Week West Virginia
I read something that SC injuries can be legit health concerns because it's near the heart. Not sure how true, but that would warrant a conservative approach

OU @ TCU 11 am CT ABC (sat)
OUs defense looks comically bad. They aren't coming within 5 yards of the runners or WRs for TCU

Texas opens as an 11 point favorite v West Virginia
We shall see. Long season ahead. The defense has definitely improved so far and the Tech outcome is skewed by the 4th downs. The yards per play stats were still quite good in that game. I won't be surprised if the defense ends up having a solid year.

Yep. Only way Sark gets fired is a 3-win season. Maybe 4. Otherwise gotta give him next year with Ewers, the more experienced stud OLs, and Worthy/Neyor back. Especially with the Ewers injury (somewhat legit) excuse.

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
I'll be honest, I'm actually less worried about the defense than I am about overall 2nd half performance. In Sark's 9 losses, 5 had halftime leads (1 tied - Bama). On the flip side, no halftime comeback wins. Easy to blame the defense but if the offense doesn't go limp in 2H, we still beat OU and OSU last year plus now Tech.

2023 CB Malik Muhammad
He's been planning to take these visits the whole time. It's a bidding war.

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
Quinn was Muschamp's DC at Florida for a while

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
I thought the sequence was Muschamp, Lanning, Dan Quinn, then PK. Maybe Odom in there somewhere too

Wasn't Arnett the guy that interviewed at LSU or somewhere else and supposedly had an all-time terrible interview?

Texas O-line talk
JT needs to work on his blocking too. He whiffed on the Bijan fumble and several other plays

1. Offense played well enough to win, but they still get some blame for the 2nd half. 1 more TD or even just keeping the defense off the field longer would have been enough. 2. Yep. Pass pro is better than I expected though, run blocking way worse, but the youth is a big part of that. Bright future still. Wonder if we see Devon Campbell soon bc Hutson seems like the weakest link right now just by naked eye. 5. Exactly. Tech chose a high risk strategy and it worked out for them. That strategy could've easily led to a blowout win for us. The one caveat imo is that the defense allowed them to set up a bunch of makeable 4th downs. A lot of 4th and 2/3/4s from around midfield. This is surprising to read. Felt like we were too conservative watching it live. But I haven't broken it down.- 9.26.22 Coach Sark press conference @ 11AM
Anyone ask him why the offense only managed 1 TD in the second half after cruising in the first? And why that's happened like 6 times in his Texas tenure?- Tech rushing the field
Lol at these Tech accounts posting that like crazy trying to make Texas look bad, when now it turns out all they did was show another UT player getting shoved and then acting with class by apologizing to the girl- Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
Exactly. Nebraska had success in the portal too after going 3-9 in like year 4 of Frost era- Texas opens as an 11 point favorite v West Virginia
Tech only lost by 13 to a top 10 team on the road. They also whipped Miss St. in their bowl game last year. Not saying the loss is ok but maybe they aren't as bad as you think?- Texas opens as an 11 point favorite v West Virginia
Wow I did not expect Miss St to be favored over ATM- Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
It will be interesting to see how much winning impacts recruiting in the new NIL era nationwide. NFL free agents often don't give a shit about a team's record, they go for the biggest contract with the Jaguars or whoever. We could be entering an all-business era of college football where NIL and NFL development matter a lot more than a team's record.- ztejas sucks
He's not wrong. With that said, #DroolForRhule- Jimbo 2023: Watch.The.Tape.
Arkansas gift wrapped that game. The fumble was a 13-point play and one of the dumbest ones you'll ever see. Then the botched snap on 2nd and 5 on their last drive that made it 3rd and more than 10. Then the missed FG to take the lead.- Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
Maybe but in the first half he was letting Card sling it and it was working great. I don't get why the 2nd half offense look so much different. First half - offense looks like a piece of art with all the misdirection and stuff. Second half - pure vanilla.- Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
2%??? I never put too much stock in that stuff but wow. There's no doubt that Tech went extremely high risk with all those 4th downs. If you miss those, it sets Texas up for a lot more points. Like I said before, this is a 2-3 TD win if we stop just a couple more of those 4ths. The fumble recoveries are bad luck but on the first one Cook bent over to pick up the ball instead of diving on it. Should've had it. I'm guessing the lack of INTs is largely tied to lack of pass rush but still, very bad.- Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
Story of this game was 4th down, plain and simple. Tech chose a high risk strategy by going for all of those, and we absolutely flunked it. Stop a couple more of those and we win convincingly. Tech's offensive efficiency stats actually weren't very good - only 5.9 ypa passing and 3.4 yards per carry. Texas was 9.2 ypa and 5 ypc. Besides that, can someone more knowledgeable explain to me what's wrong with our run blocking? Every game our RBs are getting met in the backfield nonstop. Also the offense continue to turtle in the 2nd half. Seems like we go totally vanilla playcalling. I don't get it. Pass rush = nonexistent. Bama game was fools gold. We had 1 sack vs UTSA's 3rd string tackles and none vs Tech. Lastly, we have forced 2 turnovers through 4 games. Yikes. I don't think it's worth panicking about the offense other than the turtling. Gotta remember that despite all our offseason portal moves, this game was played with the same guys as last year, minus Worthy. And a young Oline. No Ewers, no Neyor, no Billingsley, etc. - Media/$9.95-er postgame analysis articles (Week 4)
