Texas opens as an 11 point favorite v West Virginia
Tech only lost by 13 to a top 10 team on the road. They also whipped Miss St. in their bowl game last year. Not saying the loss is ok but maybe they aren't as bad as you think?

Wow I did not expect Miss St to be favored over ATM

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
It will be interesting to see how much winning impacts recruiting in the new NIL era nationwide. NFL free agents often don't give a shit about a team's record, they go for the biggest contract with the Jaguars or whoever. We could be entering an all-business era of college football where NIL and NFL development matter a lot more than a team's record.

Jimbo 2023: Watch.The.Tape.
Arkansas gift wrapped that game. The fumble was a 13-point play and one of the dumbest ones you'll ever see. Then the botched snap on 2nd and 5 on their last drive that made it 3rd and more than 10. Then the missed FG to take the lead.

Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
Maybe but in the first half he was letting Card sling it and it was working great. I don't get why the 2nd half offense look so much different. First half - offense looks like a piece of art with all the misdirection and stuff. Second half - pure vanilla.

Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
2%??? I never put too much stock in that stuff but wow. There's no doubt that Tech went extremely high risk with all those 4th downs. If you miss those, it sets Texas up for a lot more points. Like I said before, this is a 2-3 TD win if we stop just a couple more of those 4ths. The fumble recoveries are bad luck but on the first one Cook bent over to pick up the ball instead of diving on it. Should've had it. I'm guessing the lack of INTs is largely tied to lack of pass rush but still, very bad.

Texas vs tech - 2:30pm on ESPN
Story of this game was 4th down, plain and simple. Tech chose a high risk strategy by going for all of those, and we absolutely flunked it. Stop a couple more of those and we win convincingly. Tech's offensive efficiency stats actually weren't very good - only 5.9 ypa passing and 3.4 yards per carry. Texas was 9.2 ypa and 5 ypc. Besides that, can someone more knowledgeable explain to me what's wrong with our run blocking? Every game our RBs are getting met in the backfield nonstop. Also the offense continue to turtle in the 2nd half. Seems like we go totally vanilla playcalling. I don't get it. Pass rush = nonexistent. Bama game was fools gold. We had 1 sack vs UTSA's 3rd string tackles and none vs Tech. Lastly, we have forced 2 turnovers through 4 games. Yikes. I don't think it's worth panicking about the offense other than the turtling. Gotta remember that despite all our offseason portal moves, this game was played with the same guys as last year, minus Worthy. And a young Oline. No Ewers, no Neyor, no Billingsley, etc.

Jimbo 2023: Watch.The.Tape.
I'm with you. I'd rather have them do just well enough that Jimbo hangs onto the offense instead of being forced to hire a real OC.

DeMarvion Overshown: An Amazing Person On and Off The Field
Ok so now defenders have to look the QB in his eyes before they decide how to tackle him. Got it.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
Since this is now the NIL thread, has anyone heard of anyone using that Leverage Lineup thing on Opendorse? Curious how that's working. Seems like a lot of potential there to monetize small businesses and fans if done correctly and publicized enough

CFB coaching carousel
Weird feeling that I hope they take Kansas' coach, preferably before we play them this year lol. Looks like he spent some time there. Wouldn't mind seeing Campbell leave either. Of course, I'm sure Saban will find a way to unload buttchin on them

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
Has there been any intel on what caused the last minute switchup from Hale? As of yesterday everyone though UT including Fong. Then poof. Obviously the natural guess is that we didn't match Bama's offer but idk.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
Good post. This part has always struck as one of the most legitimately challenging things about the current world of NIL. People have to be willing to "donate" big money to a game instead of sending that money to other causes that legitimately save lives and shit.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
That's fair. So basically nothing specific but just working under the assumption that there are no rules so anyone can be bought away at any time. Hell of a sport the NCAA has created right now Hopefully Clark Field used that Bama game to get some more big donors on board, sounds like this free agency season will be nuts

Where would Neyor go? Can't imagine he gets drafted coming off a torn ACL and he's already used his free transfer.

Roadkill vs trampling longhorns LHN 7 PM
With the caveat that I can't see who was open on TV that Card missed...I think all this Card criticism on here is overblown. He is accurate and strong-armed on short and intermediate routes. His mobility came up big even with his injury. He seems like a good "culture" guy, for lack of better words. Yes, he is awful on deep balls. I think he basically has the yips at this point. And the processing still seems subpar although again, I can't tell on TV. Pocket presence used to be a nightmare but seems to be improving. So yeah, Ewers is clearly the guy but I'm glad to have a guy like Card as a backup, especially once he's back to full health.

And no sacks on Harris iirc. That guy had amazing pocket presence/elusiveness.

Kinda looked like their QB got popped high on the last play too which is what I assumed it was. Idk though, have been wondering like everyone else.

Jimbo 2023: Watch.The.Tape.
Nah Jimbo barely even suspends felons like Mckinley Jackson. Marshall probably has like 8 or 9 more screwups before he gets kicked off lol

UTSA VS Texas 9/17/22
It's probably not common at all because it would require the QB getting a surprise injury in the middle of the week. Example: this game. The opening line already knew Ewers was out. I think you're right in the NFL but college is a different animal. If Wright played the full game vs Bama, we would have been lucky to score 10 points all game, much less in the first quarter like Ewers did.

UTSA VS Texas 9/17/22
I always believed it was one of the major issues and that he was aware of it. I just didn't know if he could fix it. Watching that first Nebraska game only cemented that thought. But I'm not ready to say it's for sure fixed yet. So far so good but let's see what happens if they have a bad loss or two. That'll be the real test.
